To blame East African origin Indians for a resurgence in identity politics is ridiculous. How about the British Muslims sections of whom have enthusiastically joined pan-islamic causes and groups such as ISIS? From the hounding of Salman Rushdie to the Mirpuri grooming gangs, they have done a lot to foul up the atmosphere and discredit multi-culturalism.

Britain joined the US and bombed Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Somalia et al.
Have we all seen Gaza, that is exactly what Britain did to Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria etc - we joined the US and bombed these nations into rubble, US-UK massacred more than a million civilians (refer Watson institute and Julian Assange). They were left with no houses, no schools, no banks, no governments, no airports and sea ports, we froze their sovereign wealth ($50 Billion from Libya and $20 Billion from Afghanistan). UK and US literally created more than 20 million refugees. Millions maimed for life. 8 million afghans during our 21 year occupation.
Britain is not as innocent as they seem.
The UK and US did all this to please Israel and once again they are repeating this horror supporting Israel's genocide in the middle east.
Britain killed more than 150 million Indians during our 300 year rule over India
Not to mention the slaughter of natives in America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand

You've got this one wrong, guys.
To 99% of us Brits, race and colour is of no account.
    But values are.
What has stoked the temperature is two-tier policing and two-tier justice, and certain ethnic groups taking advantage of this.
The mythical "far right" is in fact millions of ordinary Brits (of all races and creeds), who have had enough of this.
And you are totally misinformed about Tommy Robinson, who has not advocated violence.
The vast majority of Brits want democracy, something which is quite alien to Starmer's mindset.

Karan while I watch your shows and many a times agree with your guest, this is just so not the case. It is clear that the problem is not colour or race or ethnicity but assimilation of the immigrants into the culture value system and everyday life of the British people. The muslims in particular are not ready to assimilate and are very disruptive in their behaviour themselves. Call it racist but it is true they want to dump their values on others and create a country with their laws etc. Btw I am not British but this is just my observation.

Ashish Roy and Karan Thaper, there is more racism in India. Ninety percent of Indians are brown-skinned and the rest is a mixed blood. Yet the Indian movie industry and the matrimonial columns overtly racist and Indian society spends highest amount of money bleaching their skin. The racism started by Invading Aryans and calked the native brown skinned Indians as Shudras and created Varna system. Why India is not creating employment instead of exporting human trafficking. Brahminical Hindu religion is based on colour and resposible for racism in India. Think about it!

Yes I agree with this gentleman about British riots. The police are afraid to upset immigrants and therefore don't treat them as strictly as British people. Carrying a knife appears to be more common for immigrants and little girls are being stabbed. I believe the grooming gangs who were targeting girls considered under age by British law was extremely provocative. Girls under 16 are children and not allowed to consent and beating up girls is also not allowed. The bombing at the Ariana Grande concert which killed and injured girls was also not well accepted. Now there are attacks in schools targeting girls as young as five. Machete carrying men ran around the streets in Southend shopping centre fighting the other day. This behaviour is frowned on in Britain,

There are two factors contributing to the situation in the UK: 1. The irresponsible political leadership that is failing to make their case re their immigration policies instead of being rhetorical, divisive, and inflammatory 2. The immigrants who fail to be aware of the triggers against them, so that being prudent overrides any overt "freedom to do whatever" claims. Victims of discrimination at so many levels in the countries they flee from must necessarily be mindful of any such issues in the countries they seek refuge in. Being respectful of one's environment is the best indicator of one's quality of awareness and the essential ingredient to being adaptable and successful in the new environs.

Instead of migrating to foreign countries, respecting countries must try to make their country livable by uprooting corruption and political instability. He is saying what is the perceived 'common knowledge' among the right wing rioters. And as a person living in the UK, I can substantiate that feeling. There is a growing sense that the immigration has gone unchecked and on one side the better educated immigrants are stealing away the high paying white collar jobs and the lesser educated immigrants are outstripping the whites in taking up the low paying blue collar jobs, while on the other side immigrants have cornered a greater share of the social security benefits. So, the government does have a problem to solve and controlling the immigration and people coming on boats from across Europe (now that the Uganda plan stands cancelled) needs to be looked in a manner that a message goes out to every section of the society, but mostly to the whites, that immigration follows a fair policy.

This interview is full of inconsistencies from the reasons of the riots to the uneducated inability of the rioters to basically distinguish asylum seekers, from Islam extremism, to those protesting the Palestinian issue and the same fear politics that prevail in India of Muslims producing far more kids than Hindus and will turn India into a muslim country, is applied in the UK of foriegners especially of the Muslim ilk taking over. In India and the UK an educated approach of the percentages and the improbabilities are never considered.
The main crux is the so called working class of Britain who once had a guarantee of jobs in factories and mining are no longer assured as such with the diminishing in both these sectors and they have become used to gravy train of the welfare state. That this cannot be a permanent solution escapes them and they feel such is being usurped by the arrival of foriegners. Again the drop in standards of public insitutions such as the NHS is attributed to the arrival of foriegners without consideration that such foriegners constitute less than a full percent of the population.
This so called working class are barely educated to just about poor literacy, hardly have any skill sets and have a long history of feeing entitled to the extent will not indulge in menial labour. If foriegners didn't do these jobs, the oderliness of function wouldn't exist in the UK, is another factor that escapes them.
Rishi Sunak never got a peoples mandate but became PM by default when the calamtious Liz Truss made a pigs eye of her stint as PM and had to step down for faith to be restored. In the hustings for the position post Boris Johnsons departure, Sunak had won every round of debate by a handsome margin. Yet once it went past the parlimentary party to the grassroots members vote, Sunak didn't even make the final two candidates exhibiting the racism within the wider membership of the Conservatives. Eventually, both these candidates had to fail miserably, for Sunak to then be accepted!
It is also an absolute nonsense that wearing ones religions on their sleeves has reduced multiculturism and assimilation. Long before Rishi Sunak put out Diwali diyas outside his residence, previous PMs from Cameron, Johnson and Blair have hosted Diwali parties at Downing Street. Priti Patel is married to a white person, yet attended an official function in a saree worn Gujarati style and Suella Braverman who has a Goan Catholic father, a Hindu mother is a practicing Buddhist herself. Hinduism being a very accomodating religion causes no impediment to assimilating.
The biggest nonsense here is that prior to the arrival of the asians from Africa and their exclusiveness, the arrivals from India were fitting in better. Many who arrived from India, came post the war when people were required in the build up and were at the lower spectrum of manual jobs in factories etc. The Asians from Africa were more steeped in Britishness, educated in the British system, monied and many had sent their children to the UK for studies and accumulated wealth in the UK for a rainy day in anticiaption that one day an Uganda style exodus might become their fate too. Even those that of that exodus were successfull businessmen and took no time in repaeating their African success in the UK forming successful communities as Leicester and elsewhere. African Asians have fitted into the UK far more easily than their counterparts from India.
The only people not doing so are those of the Muslim persuation and post 9/11 have become not only more insular, but also more demanding to the extent now many offices provide prayer rooms etc to accomodate them. There are other aspects too, such as the purchase of the Trocadero in the heart of Londons West End the entertainment centre of the capital, that is going to be turned into a grand mosque. This unfortunately is a provocation of local sentiment and leads to the impression of 'them taking over'. These same people would find it resentful if a Moulin Rouge Revue type bar was considered to be opened in Saudi Arabia, yet they pursue in demeaning the secular fabric of Britain by exploiting minority rights. Also that further up the road in Regents Park is housed a grand mosque in the heart of Central London, doesn't stop them pushing for another!

I disagree with Ashish Ray about calling East African Asians less assimilated than those who came directly from india. I don't see that amongst Hindus (mostly Gujarati but some Hindu Punjabi) or Sikhs from East Africa. The only community which I saw being outwardly more conservative (i.e. women wearing the burkha) was the muslim coomunity that came from Malawi in Southeast Africa. Also East African Asian have been in UK for many generations now. Even those who came as adults lived in urban areas of the East African countries and were educated in English medium schools.

the current wave of right wing agitation stems back from the 1960's, those who took the brunt of the racism were Afro carribbean, it was their strong stance and fighting back against the racists that made it far easier for those from south asia. unfortunately there have been many instances of hindutva types who have been ingratiating themselves to the EDL, the Hindutva type have felt emboldened since Sunak became PM but the reality is the Far right do not see any distinction in anyone who is not white, they will ofcourse use the old 'divide and rule' policy and there will be many takers from the hindu and sikh community and i dare say some so called ' muslims' will join also.
the majority of south asian 2nd and 3rd generation have integrated but the idea of assimilation is ridiculous, even the south asian christian community that has 'assimilated' to the point of being more anglish than the english are still at the receiving end of racism due to their skin colour.
the current wave of anti muslim diatribe has more to do with the fact that latge section of british society have more sympathy with the plight of the palestinians and to stem this support, various media outlets have been relenting in their attacks on muslims, much of the media on the right is pro zionist and so they peddle stereo types and misinformation.
criminality exists within all societies and nations, and its quite easy to create stereotyypes and caricatures, this happened in 1930's germany.
