Honestly, Maddie as a character was only made as a plot device to get the audience to hate her for getting in the way of CaitVi. It worked, and she gets the same hate like Mel does for JayVik, and it's all because she 'gets in the way of a ship'. Her VA doesn't deserve the hate. Maddie deserved to actually be a fleshed out character rather than a discount Joffrey.
What I love the most about Maddie is the fact she breaks the stereotype so well. Her cuteness and almost child look makes you think she is just manipulated by Ambessa or she was a treator only for her own survival. But she is the perfect spy and just stick to her beliefs. Her final line is so badass.
Katy comes across as such a sweetheart it makes you wish for her sake Maddie had been given a shot at redemption, perhaps where she couldn't go through with killing Cait but instead turned the gun on Ambessa and was then cut down by one her bodyguards.
Nah, thatd cheapen it. Its the contrast between her cutesy look and her cold execution of Cait that really drills in just how bad things are. And its a good indicator that while theres a strong redemption theme in season 2, not everyone can or even wants to be redeemed. Even if theyre cute.
Maddie was very young and was pushed away by Catlin when she no longer needed her - Though she should not have joined Ambessa. I still liked her for being enthusiastic and charismatic.

Remember when ambessa and vi were in the tent and she said "I was able to fill the hole in caitlyn's life when you left" (paraphrasing) which means she sent Maddie to fill Vi's role with Cait. If people say "but Maddie said the opposite of what ambessa wanted" What better way to test Cait if she was still useful or not.

It was the first thought I had too, because the only other work I'd known from her before this was ME Andromeda. Here's me also thinking--the irony of a dark-haired woman voicing two gingers. Also, it made me pick up Andromeda again.
Maddie's 'betrayal 'sequence was the most shocking part of the final episode for me. Betrayal, Ambessa stabs Cait, Maddie shoots Cait, Bullet ricochets, gold magic barrier, Maddie's Gone. That whole sequence was so fast and so crazy. Epic.Whole show was awesome, but this sequence really sold the last battle. And also... R.I.P., Loris.
Honestly I was so surprised how during act 1 everyone liked Maddie but then after the Cait rebound scene so many people switched up. It was kind of scary how people were cheering when she died 😢. Like I was invested in her and her relationship with Caitlyn.

It is an unfortunate truth, that people confuse reality with fiction and do not understand the difference between a role and and the actor. Yes, the betrayal of Maddy hit me hard. That made me LOVE the actor that was able to make me feel so strongly about a fictional character. Absolutely GREAT voice acting.
Enemy was realeased ages ago, sorry to burst your bubble 😂 I've had it on my playlist since 2021. In fact, 2 versions were released. One with the rap and one without.
We are talking about Arcane's version of Enemy. That wasn't released. The one you are talking about is the one that Imagine Dragons released when they had their song done. Riot Games then worked with Imagine Dragons to make an orchestral version. That song was used in the intro but the full version was never released until after Season 2

** SPOILER WARNING ** If you can bring people from crying "please don't kill the new puppy, we just got her" to shouting "I absolutely despise her guts" over an animated character then one can only conclude that both Katy and the creative team have done an amazing job at bringing this character to Life and giving her agency. The best thing about this whole show is that it revolves around the human condition both within the show and the fandom of Arcane. While I cannot like Maddie due to her role as one of the secondary antagonists, I absolutely enjoyed what she brought to the show and I am really glad to hear Katy again, because I also enjoyed her role in Andromeda quite a lot. Hope to see and hear more from her in the future 😊
Cheering on Maddie's death is one of the worst parts of the Arcane fandom, and it made me angry. I saw some posts on Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr about her death, and they made her laugh. It didn't make me happy about it. The plot doesn't work at all. So I muted or blocked their account for some reason. Maybe the voice actress is receiving death threats about her character. As an innocent Arcane fan, I like all of the characters for fun, and I don't hate them. She could be an interesting character, not a traitor. Maddie was the reason I even started watching Arcane, due to Katy being such a wonderful person and actor. Still my favorite character of the show, even with the stupid twist in the final act(feel it was done to satisfy the CaitVi shippers by going “See, she was evil! Cait did nothing wrong”). Hope Katy knows that for all the hate she’s gotten, there’s more people who want nothing but the best for her.

But hey this show established alternate timelines, so just treat this as a bad one and in better timelines Maddie lives and gets everything she wants and deserves. :) And absolutely agree! Loved Katy and Suvi from Mass Effect: Andromeda and Cait(heh) from Fallout 4 plus she’s always been nice interacting with people.
i liked Maggie at the start then got mad, then understood n almost felt bad for her and then actually cheered when she you know...herself. lol all in all i actually quite like the character! one of the main reasons i wasnt too mad at maggie (and actually felt bad for her) was you could see in Caitlyns face that she was NOT into the relationship it was 100% a fling for her at least thats what i got from Caits face so i was mad for a quick second but then felt kinda bad for Maggie cause she seemed more invested in the relationship or was just trying to get into her inner circle of trust idk
Yeah. If I remember correctly Amanda Overton said that Maddie was the first (or only?) character who was designed directly by its voice actor from scratch (other characters had other looks at first, in the design phase).
I knew Maddie would do something I didn't like when she slept with Cait. She was all "oooh Vi OMG you so cool, you a hero" blah blah fangirling and then had no problem sleeping with her soulmate lol They portrayed her very well because I have met people like that and they backstab you 100% of the time lol

I found the Scottish accent, although endearing, distracting, because isn't that kind of Lillia's personality? Is it meant to play on that (like, setting a false expectation that this is just a harmless character) or did Maddie get a Scottish accent just because it sounds cool?
Katy did a great job at making Maddie easy to empathize with and then stabbing and twisting the knife after her betrayal. Up until that point I felt bad for Maddie getting all caught up in the whole Caitlyn/Vi romance, but after her betrayal I was cheering for her to die. She truly did a great job, I never suspected a thing!
Man, imagine being so disconnected from reality, that you actually believe that the character and the VA are the same people. I mean the level of delusion. That has to be borderline diagnosable at that point.
I don’t fully get the Maddie hate (That’s just me though!), Obviously Maddie turned on Piltover and Cait, but she was a noxian through and through, She stayed loyal to Ambessa and while still going down a dark path. When I first saw Maddie and heard her voice, I was like, no way, that's Suvi from Mass Effect Andromeda!! I checked and it really was her! Such amazing voice acting and such a sweet and memorable voice ❤

Yes she did voice Suvi in Mass Effect Andromeda. Unfortunately people are crazy online and its really hard for actors to stay online but I'm glad with her, there are so many positive people around
People that cant seperate the actor from the Character need to go outside and touch grass. The actor that played Jeoffrey in GOT went through the same thing. Its sad to see.

It is an unfortunate truth, that people confuse reality with fiction and do not understand the difference between a role and and the actor. Yes, the betrayal of Maddy hit me hard. That made me LOVE the actor that was able to make me feel so strongly about a fictional character. Absolutely GREAT voice acting.

Enemy was realeased ages ago, sorry to burst your bubble 😂 I've had it on my playlist since 2021. In fact, 2 versions were released. One with the rap and one without.
We are talking about Arcane's version of Enemy. That wasn't released. The one you are talking about is the one that Imagine Dragons released when they had their song done. Riot Games then worked with Imagine Dragons to make an orchestral version. That song was used in the intro but the full version was never released until after Season 2

** SPOILER WARNING **
If you can bring people from crying "please don't kill the new puppy, we just got her" to shouting "I absolutely despise her guts" over an animated character then one can only conclude that both Katy and the creative team have done an amazing job at bringing this character to Life and giving her agency.
The best thing about this whole show is that it revolves around the human condition both within the show and the fandom of Arcane.
While I cannot like Maddie due to her role as one of the secondary antagonists, I absolutely enjoyed what she brought to the show and I am really glad to hear Katy again, because I also enjoyed her role in Andromeda quite a lot.
Hope to see and hear more from her in the future 😊

Cheering on Maddie's death is one of the worst parts of the Arcane fandom, and it made me angry.
I saw some posts on Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr about her death, and they made her laugh. It didn't make me happy about it. The plot doesn't work at all. So I muted or blocked their account for some reason.
Maybe the voice actress is receiving death threats about her character. As an innocent Arcane fan, I like all of the characters for fun, and I don't hate them.
She could be an interesting character, not a traitor. Katy Townsend, I AM SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER'S DEATH.
That's sweet of you. I think people are very driven by emotion, so they might be happy about a character's death or maybe releaved but few people take it too far

Maddie was the reason I even started watching Arcane, due to Katy being such a wonderful person and actor. Still my favorite character of the show, even with the stupid twist in the final act(feel it was done to satisfy the CaitVi shippers by going “See, she was evil! Cait did nothing wrong”).
Hope Katy knows that for all the hate she’s gotten, there’s more people who want nothing but the best for her.

Some of the creators feeding that even more after the release didn’t help either. Unfortunately ruined the whole show for me because of the negativity.
But hey this show established alternate timelines, so just treat this as a bad one and in better timelines Maddie lives and gets everything she wants and deserves. :)

Maddie was a honey pot spy...not a scorned lover. Her job was recruit Vi and influence Cait. It is much clearer after a second watch.
i liked Maggie at the start then got mad, then understood n almost felt bad for her and then actually cheered when she you know...herself. lol all in all i actually quite like the character! one of the main reasons i wasnt too mad at maggie (and actually felt bad for her) was you could see in Caitlyns face that she was NOT into the relationship it was 100% a fling for her at least thats what i got from Caits face so i was mad for a quick second but then felt kinda bad for Maggie cause she seemed more invested in the relationship or was just trying to get into her inner circle of trust idk

Yeah. If I remember correctly Amanda Overton said that Maddie was the first (or only?) character who was designed directly by its voice actor from scratch (other characters had other looks at first, in the design phase).
She does because the character was designed from her facial features and she even talks about it in this episode

Katy did a great job at making Maddie easy to empathize with and then stabbing and twisting the knife after her betrayal. Up until that point I felt bad for Maddie getting all caught up in the whole Caitlyn/Vi romance, but after her betrayal I was cheering for her to die. She truly did a great job, I never suspected a thing!
