URBAN PARKUP a 8.5m Motorhome + Filming For TV!

- I've been really busy the last few days running around here and there, catching up with Pete & Jimmy over the weekend.
I then had to run as I had some TOP SECRET filming to do for TV but that's all I can say for now haha!
Once I finished filming it was time to find a parkup, so I jumped on Park4Night and found a pretty urban parkup, sure its no street but it was still tight and I was unsure I'd get parked as the new motorhome is just shy of 8.5 meters!

Lovely couple started you tube channel (travelling taffs) changed their motorhome for a 8.50m burstner, they do a lot of wild camping and are really happy with their van, well done Darren x

At least you gave that a good go, I would have bottled out. Being a trucker you are probably good at judging the size of vehicles. I have a tiny VW width wise it fits most places but it's high top so height Barriers are my problem. Good tip on zooming in on Google maps, our niece does that when we go Geocaching, so we can park near to our finds.

Not only do you have the same motorhome as us, but you were parked parked up near Godalming where I was born and brought up!! Hubby played rugby there. The lake is called Broadwater Lake.
Top driving skills there, I would have had a meltdown. Looking forward to the new content. Where do you get breaded edam, gotta try that….

Obviously mooring up the land yacht is going to present a few challenges but what a beast Daz . What’s the fuel consumption like , as expected?

I'm glad you didn't try and get through that barrier, I never trust anyone watching me. As once they've waved you on and then you scuff something the damage is done and they walk off..... I always trust my own judgement. Does your new motorhome have any parking sensors or reversing camera? 😁👍

With our mobility scooter rack on the tow bar the overhang was huge on our 8mtr van and in car parks like that one if a car is parked at both sides it became almost impossible to leave due to turning point.
In supermarket car parks we have had to wait until the other cars have moved away, not good .
Supermarket carparks are pretty unfriendly to larger vehicles. There's a Sainsbury's I visited that had bollards preventing my 6M from making some turns and even larger *cars* overhang the spaces.
Morrisons seem pretty good, however.

Thats the only problem with a tag axle motorhome they are a pain in tight spaces like supermarket car parks and country lanes etc ive just sold my tag axle gone back to a a slightly smaller van good luck

Daz, when are you going to Europe? We're in Germany now, they have nice long sausages here. X
With a smaller motorhome you can park anywhere but not what all the comforts a large motorhome gives you. A bigger motorhome gives you more comfort whilst you are parked up. It is a compromise on size and avaiablilty. I have a 8.4 m motorhome and love the comforts whilst I am parked up.
Great parking and it doesn’t look like you have a reversing camera. I have anxiety about parking my 6.36 Fiat Ducati van with camera, in car parks 🥴 Thanks for sharing another interesting video.
Daz has a dual reversing camera. One points straight down, the other points backwards.
@@Mevi Thanks for the update. So obviously he’s not as good at parking as I thought he was! 🤨 Clearly I’m joking, he’s still an amazing driver to manoeuvre that beast into those parking spaces. I suppose it’s years of driving HGVs. Maybe at the next show he should move from presenting to driving instruction.😁

yeah i looked at a podcast he was saying this place the schools were letting you park at weekends and school holidays for a small fee you put in a box to help the funds for the schools what a great idea i thought

There's been a bunch of these Moho/Vanlife shows in development. Even I was approached a while back, which seemed a bizarre choice. I would have done it for the lols, but it didn't go further than a 15 minute telephone call. Camper Vibe did that show - reviewing a toilet, I think.

I think having a motorhome the size you have now isn’t going to be as practical as a smaller van. Big is not always better😮
Especially the urban parking.
It's a bit inappropriate to park up things that size in housing estates etc.

I agree, I’m getting and converting a home delivery truck, it fits in a standard car parking space, legally. It’s square and the stealth factor is 10x a motor home. No one can see the skylight or the solar from the street, so there is zero indication of the tiny home inside.

Just to freak you out. I'm only eating one meal a day, only meat, fish, eggs or dairy. I've lost 12 Kg in 5 weeks. That's kind of a challenge.
