She is an ethnic Manchu Chinese, born in northeast of China, grow up in XinJiang and Sichuan province, after High school, she went to Minzu ethnic university of China in Beijing, Major in Singing, now she is a Chinese military singer just like the Miao singer Song Zuying, very famous across the country, here is this song in live on youtube "Un2vNuA4mgk". btw, all 56 ethnics in China enjoy each other's culture very much. There are many ethnic universities in China to develop those culture.
Wen Xin, your voice is supper sweet and you also look great with hmong dress. Zoo siab ntau pom peb hmog suav teb zoo ntxim nyiam thiab hu tau nkauj zoo kawg nkaus li.
Although Han is the largest ethnic group in China, Manchu, Miao(Hmong), Zhuang, Mongols, Uygers, Tibetans ... are all Chinese, We love and protect each other, enjoy each other's culture, we are very lucky to be Chinese, have so many bueatiful cultures in the world, we will not only keep those culture but also develop them forever. I hate western medias always want to seperate us, I am a Han Chinese moved to America, I have many Miao, tibetan friends in China and missed them so much.
I don't know squat about the political/ethnic stuff regarding who's who at the zoo. That being said, this lady sings amazingly. Have no idea what she's singing, but she does it very well. For me, that is enough.
Then you should say Han and Miao don't have same culture, but we are all Chinese, there are around 10 million Miao in China, they are not only live in south China, they can choose anywhere, any city to live in China, they can go to any universities to study in China, there is no any difference with other ethnics groups. Miao means seeding or sprout, indicate Miao people are very diligent and hard work, they are very repected across China and have such gorgeous culture to share with us.
Hello I come from Vietnam I want to hear your song very well. You have many ethnic songs with your country of origin. Thank you for the success. Сайн байна уу Би Вьетнамаас ирсэн. The language of this song is Mandarin, which is the national language of China. Miao are bilinguals, They speak both Miao(Hmong) language and Mandarin. Normally, they speak Miao language with their own ethnic people, they speak Mandarin with other Chinese people. Mandarin official language of China, just like English is official language of USA.
i have a very good friend that is Miao. she lives in little village near the city of Guizhou. she speaks Mandarin, and Hmong, and English because she is working in a traditional dance band. but she already told me that her parents only speaks Hmong as almost every people in her village.
She is either of Han Chinese or another Chinese ethnic, dressed in Miao/Hmong attire singing about Miao/Hmong girls from mountain sides... it's just for show. Chinese Propaganda? Ethnic Cleansing? Tourism?... Still a great song & wonderful culture ;) Carry on *applause* ...
I know, as a Hmong person how we feel when other call us differently then who we really are, but as a Hmong person we never call other that is not their races or something that shouldn't be called. Be proud of what we are, who we are, and the way we are, because " Hmong " mean we never revenged other people even though we are hurting, and that because " We Are Hmong "
Chinese stands for a citizenship of China, where many different ethnic groups lived for thousands of years. In the history, many wars occurred between those groups, no matter who win the war, form the government, they are all Chinese, they still live together in the same land.
Miao was not a derogatory term until the Yuan and Ming Dynasty. In ancient times it just meant descendant. It was not used again until the Yuan Dynasty when Southwest China was brought into the Empire

Miao(Hmong) originated from China then to Vietnam or Laos & centuries later, so it began the Secret War between the CIA, Miao(Hmong) & Laos. Afterwards the Miao(Hmong) and other asians live in the USA.
@kamichamamink She is HAN CHINESE. This is her only video that I known that she dress as a Hmong person. All her other videos she's in Chinese or modern clothes. The song talks about the Hmong girls up in the mountain. I would translated but I can't understand everything.

lol, I agree with you. Ayoudou and Song Zuying are in the Chinese military right? I'm Hmong and very proud about that. However, I'm also a American and extremely proud that as well. I was born an American; I will live an American; I shall die an American.- Daniel Webster
First, you should appreciate the land where you live now, the America, which give you a home, you should be proud to be a American just like being proud as a Hmong. Second, Miao is NOT a bad word in Chinese, "Miao" means fresh plant sprout, "Miao" is a very good word in Chinese Dictionary. "Miao" people in China is very repected, both Song Zuying and Ayouduo are famous Chinese stars and are paliament members in central government. They have concert cross the world and represent Chinese culture.
They may indeed have called themselves "Hmong" as many assumed, but "Miao' is probably a name given to them by the Chinese, at least in writing. All Hmong are pretty, doesn't matter where they live. It depend on where you meet them. The reason they marry Hmong Laos is because most of the Hmong in the States are from Laos. Communication is easier.
@visvwj I meant to say Geli Yang, not Lee Yang. Geli Yang is a Hmong person from China, who has traveled to America many times, Laos, Vietnam, etc. He says in the interview that some people dialects are very hard to understand and you have to listen carefully to understand. Search for "(A You Duo) Performing Live (part 1/2)" At 6+ mins, they are speaking Hmong in a different dialect, but you can barely understand it, if you are the sect that migrated into Laos.
Now you guys see why we Hmong don't have a country. If you guys really look into the custom and tradition of all Hmong. We all have similar trades no matter how other people called us but yet you guys argue about who is Hmong or Miao or Mong etc...We Hmong are all over the world and in different country we were called differently but we as "HMONG" know who we really are. Why can you guy stop criticizing each other and look for what we all have in commend. I'm sure Chinese called us Miao same as some Laos people called us Miao too but we all know we are HMONG so stop the argument and just be proud of who you are.
Hmong and Miao are the same people when general vang pao had power in Lao we change Miao to Hmong dr.yang Dao helped to translate the word Miao to Hmong we are Hmong. The word Miao in Lao mean cat and in china means people live in the mountain or babarrian
She is not Miao or Han, she is Manchu, she was born in northeast China, grow up in northwest Xingjiang and southwest Sichuan province, then she went to Beijing at 18 years old and graduated from centrol ethnic university of China, majoring folk song singing. This video is not a Propaganda, it's just promotion for Miao ethnic cultures.
@yamio86 She is Hmong. However, because the Hmong people are spread across southern China, and now, the world, many villages/clans started talking their own way. Eventually, over thousands of years, the dialect changed enough that you may not understand them. Does that make them less Hmong? They could be saying you're the one who changed. American English has changed from the UK's version. Her name is A You Duo. Look her up. All Hmong have a similar type of clothing, and musical instruments
@VamYang That's fine, Ayoudou can refer herself as Hmong, Miao, Chinese or whatever she want. She's Miao to me, for i dont understand her language. although it is the same thing. anyhow, don't worry. my kids will know that they are Hmong. It's not something they or anyone can change. Thanks, have a great day!
Now the Chinese goverment is formed by 56 ethnic groups. So Miao is definitely Chinese. Although Communist is the dominate party in the government, there are some other parties too. All the political parties including Communist are formed by 56 ethnic groups which we call them all Chinese. Miao is one of them, Ayouduo and Song Zuying are all parliement members and servied PLA before.
I understand, but I'm talking as in specific race. I'm not talking about Hawaii and America. If you go to South of China, they still do Hmong New Year and Miao still wear clothes like Hmong. So I don't know if you consider Hmong as your culture as well since Miao and Hmong are the same. No matter where hmong live they still have the same tradition. I don't think Chinese and Miao are the same culture. We don't have the same clothes or same tradition.
hmong, miao, hmu. "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." willian Shakespeare. not that im anywhere near her (wen xin) level, but once I hop on the lusheng, we would see eye to eye.
the name Miao is the pronunciation for 苗族(MiaoZu). check out my latest uploads and click any of the six videos you should understand them. even if you cant understand their accent that well you must understand something.
Please, do not turture me any more...Ready to marry all of them They are so beautiful and sweet. Including Ayouduo ...of course. Really, I love very much Miao/Hmong culture even I have never been in Miao land. I am from the Aztec land. Make sure you keep your traditions...thank you.
what is language is the sing in? it sounds like a beautiful song and this Hmoob girl's voice is really great. I don't understand the song because I don't know the language.
The principle of Hmong people called themselves "Hmong" mean free man. Us Hmong don't like to involve within any political level individually or within a group up to the 1960. Hmong prefer living freely that's why we seen what we seen today, while the villages or town get larger, Hmong people move to elsewhere that none political movement.
Song hunter Singer, (and anyone other inquirer) She is not Ayoudou. We, US-Hmong, do not know for sure who she is, or if she is even Hmong -- though many of them claim they are, yet mainly sing in Chinese/Mandarin, so how do we know with any certainty. (True, these artists are born, raised, and live in China so Chinese is their native language -- speaking and singing. No argument there.)
@visvwj Some Americans say they can't understand British accent and language. Think about it. It's only been a few hundred years since the divergence of Americans from Britain. When you have thousands of years separating you and the original Hmong people living in souther China, and with no telecommunications or TV to watch and learn, how do you think language can change? Search for "Suab Hmong News: Exclusive with Lee Yang from China" which will show Lee Yang, who performs with this gal.
Miao, or Hmong as you stated are not Chinese. They are very different in culture, language, and many other ways. Miao were chased out of there homeland 5,000 years ago. Our ancient leader was Chiyou, or Txiv Yawg(Father Grandfather). The Miao people fought back but lost and was forced to speak Cantonese or whatever. They refused to give in to Chinese rule and fled there homeland. They fled south through vietnamese and into laos. During there migrations, they divided into serperate groups.
I'm planning to take my family for a vacation in China where most Hmong are located. If you know any interesting place(s), please let me know. I saw on the Travel Channel about Zuizhou province, but not so sure about it. Your reply is greatly appreciated. Dr. Richard Xiong
I agree with ur explanation about "Miao". It is a known fact that thru-out Chinese history/records, "Miao" is a pejorative/derogatory term. It was/is specifically used for that purpose. Most Hmong/Miao may think otherwise, but that is mainly because they are gullible/ignorant of the facts/records/history. As for the "seedling" definition, that is nothing but a cover up used today due to the shameful/ugliness recorded in history. That's the truth no matter what any1 wants to say or deny.
Darn it she not miao but love it though sing it like a miao. She speakinbg in miao but which one darn to many dialect is she miao or chinese jeez can' t google her bio. Guess it might be one of these: Xiangxi, Qiandongnan or Chuanqiandian. But she good...
Most of what tiezi00 say is true. The age of warring, political persecution, and resisting came to a dead halt when Mao turn the country into a socialist republic. Life for the Hmong/Miao has changed more favorable to the Hmongs. The new generation of Han are not that of the old bunch. The new generation can not be hated for what their forefathers did. tiezi00, you have to bear in mind what Han forefathers did, from 2700 B.C. to recent 1980 Miao endured extreme hardship.
*cough* Of course, it is obvious she is singing in Mandarin. It is like expecting a singer singing in a language other than Spanish/English to gain huge amount of fame here in the United States. The singer want to spread this Miao song in China and the best way to do is by translating it into Mandarin. Since, there is also three different different main Miao languages. Excluding, the other fifty-five groups in China.

Miao is just the Mandarin pronunciation of Hmong. Hmong derived from Hmiaun, Hmao....
This girl is gorgeous!
This girl's on heaven's heart throub daughter of goodness for love, peace and blessings to ourselves.
God bless you.., hlubkuvdua yaj .
beautiful song
I hecka LOVE their cloths! so kute!!
Coooool
Now you guys see why we Hmong don't have a country. If you guys really look into the custom and tradition of all Hmong. We all have similar trades no matter how other people called us but yet you guys argue about who is Hmong or Miao or Mong etc...We Hmong are all over the world and in different country we were called differently but we as "HMONG" know who we really are. Why can you guy stop criticizing each other and look for what we all have in commend. I'm sure Chinese called us Miao same as some Laos people called us Miao too but we all know we are HMONG so stop the argument and just be proud of who you are.
Hmong Universe Channe

Wow! Who is that pretty girl?
ok ua tsaug.
Hmong and Miao are the same people when general vang pao had power in Lao we change Miao to Hmong dr.yang Dao helped to translate the word Miao to Hmong we are Hmong. The word Miao in Lao mean cat and in china means people live in the mountain or babarrian
Lovely!
I love my people .
Heaven voice
@VamYang
That's fine, Ayoudou can refer herself as Hmong, Miao, Chinese or whatever she want.
Ni cheo sỏ mỏ.minh chư.😃🎸🎤😄🎤

I understand, but I'm talking as in specific race. I'm not talking about Hawaii and America. If you go to South of China, they still do Hmong New Year and Miao still wear clothes like Hmong. So I don't know if you consider Hmong as your culture as well since Miao and Hmong are the same. No matter where hmong live they still have the same tradition. I don't think Chinese and Miao are the same culture. We don't have the same clothes or same tradition.
NTXIM UA LUAJ , SUAB ZOO HEEV
hmong, miao, hmu. "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." willian Shakespeare. not that im anywhere near her (wen xin) level, but once I hop on the lusheng, we would see eye to eye.
@kaliakim Tau kawg tus Phooj Ywg...
the name Miao is the pronunciation for 苗族(MiaoZu). check out my latest uploads and click any of the six videos you should understand them. even if you cant understand their accent that well you must understand something.
le clip est bien fait.
grave c'est pas les mêmes moyens que xaab thoj hahaha
She has such a pure, bright beauty! *_*
I'm hmong and I like the song a lot but I can't understand what she is saying...
人比花嬌俏^_^
Please, do not turture me any more...Ready to marry all of them
They are so beautiful and sweet.
I don't understand the song because I don't know the language.
this is chinese
The principle of Hmong people called themselves "Hmong" mean free man. Us Hmong don't like to involve within any political level individually or within a group up to the 1960. Hmong prefer living freely that's why we seen what we seen today, while the villages or town get larger, Hmong people move to elsewhere that none political movement.
Song hunter Singer, (and anyone other inquirer)
She is not Ayoudou.
Koj puas yog Hmong nas me muam ak.
Very nice song !
I'm planning to take my family for a vacation in China where most Hmong are located. If you know any interesting place(s), please let me know. I saw on the Travel Channel about Zuizhou province, but not so sure about it. Your reply is greatly appreciated.
Dr. Richard Xiong
Tus me ntxhais koj puas paub peb cov lus hmoob memkuj os? yog paub no, koj qhia kuv puas tau os?
@thepaiayang1 this girl is HAN CHINESE not HMONG. The song you talking about is by the HMONG SINGER AYouDuo. This girl's name is Wen Xin.
But she good...
hi ! kuv yob hmong nyob fab ki teb chaw .. kuv xav tauj zaab nkauj no nrauj MP3 puam tauj ??? =)
@miracle6848 Dr, Yang Dao yuav ua li cas & koj puas kam & muaj peev xwm hais kom tau tag nrho xeem Hmoob hloov ua ib xeem es peb hmoob thiaj li sib hlub yav pem suab ?
We treat Miao culture as one of Chinese culture, just like hawaii culture is one of America culture, no more word to say.
oh, stop all the arguing and just enjoy the song along with her beauty! :)
