Oh. OH! I think I will offer this to all my brides when doing the original alterations and offer them a discount for booking it a year in advance. And yes, my newest sewing machine also sadly sounds like a machine gun from a bad adventure movie but my two older ones (one when I got when I was 13 over three decades ago) just hum along. So much nicer than that new racket. I've been told I should have returned it as it has sounded that way from day one and it really doesn't seem right at all. As far as projects go I am so energized by my latest as a bride came in with her grandmother's gown and requested that I make her cathedral length veil from it. Her grandmother isn't well enough to actually attend so she thought this way she could be there in more than just spirit as they are very close. When she tried it on and I was fluffing it out, without thinking I said, "Look, your grandma's got your back." My client smiled with tears and said she always has. I don't usually get mushy at a fitting but this one got me. ;-) Thanks for a wonderful idea and another great video!
That’s a beautiful story of your bride and the veil. I would be all mushy too. What a wonderful thing to be able to work on. I’m sorry your machine sounds like that as well. Bummer!! You hope when you spend that much money that you can upgrade to a beautiful sounding machine. I guess they don’t make things like they used to. 😞 That’s a great idea about offering it to your customers a year later. 🥰😊 love it! Have an amazing weekend Susan!
@@christasdressshoppe I'm also laughing a little as I know even just a year later many of us can't fit into our wedding gowns but with the extra cut off material it would be crazy fun to add in where needed in creative ways as the material already matches. Eeke. So can't wait to do this for someone!
Yeah! That is a worry. lol 😂 I know my wedding gown would only fit on my thigh these days. 😂😂😂 Well 🤷♀️ These young girls do pretty good at keeping it off. So here is to hoping you get to do a few! 🥂
Always enjoy your tutorials! Maybe a pad under the sewing machine would help with the noise. For such an expensive machine you wouldn’t think it would be so noisy.
Thank you so much Andrea! I will have to try that. 😊 I always thought the same thing. It should run quiet and smoothly for the money I paid, and reinvest every year to have it cleaned and fixed.
My baby lock doesn't sound like that. Thank you for the video. I'm hoping to find a video where a seamstress shortens a train. Your instructions were great but I'm a visual learning kind if girl. Flowers are beautiful. It's hot in ohio
Thank you! One of these days I will get one of those alterations in my studio and I will be sure to record it. For now, shortening the train just requires you to map it out on the train. I put it on my mannequin and then I mark the back seam with how short/long I want the train to be. Then I just have to map out the fade to the side seems. Making a large U shape. I know that’s not visual but hope it’s understandable. I am also a visual learner. It’s so much easier to see it. Have a great evening! Christa
I enjoy your style of tutorials. I'm making my grandaughter wedding dress. First of this kind. The fine, flowy, tuile layers are giving me grief. Should I French seam them or not? The skirt has a front, side front, back and back side, crazy. Help
@@PeggyIshmael-p8m thank you so much Peggy! 🤗 I don’t usually see tulle French seamed. Usually they French seam fabrics like chiffon, organza and other fabrics that fray easy. However, if you have one of those new soft float tulles, I can see it being French seamed just fine. It might keep the raw edges from catching on the other fabrics. And by the way, congratulations on your granddaughters wedding! What an amazing time of life you are in. And to have the honor of making her wedding dress is priceless. I will be praying for you this morning that God gives you wisdom and guidance in each step.
I noticed the sound of your machine immediately after you started sewing. I have had several Bernina machines and they sound nothing like that. I would definitely check with my service guy.
Good to know!! I’ve always thought it wasn’t right. But I put it in the shop year after year with the same complaint. And it’s always the same. 😞 Thank you!!
And thank you for the very very informative videos.
😃😊🥰 you are so welcome!!
Thanks for watching!
Have an amazing weekend!

Yeah it’s a bummer 😢
I’ve told him about it each year. 🤷♀️
I’m thinking of buying a new one down the road. Cut my losses. lol
Ask Randy the sewing machine repair man on RUclips or Bernina Jeff at Hi-Fashion Sewing because that shouldn’t sound like that for Swiss engineering!

Oh yes, and thank you for the video! I was working on hemming a MOB dress that needed hemming and that technique for the rolled hem worked perfectly.
