    It’s OK Tasos I think I didn’t correctly explain what was puzzling me. I wasn’t saying that you were wrong, I was just puzzled that the diagnostics were giving you a different reading than the cluster was. It’s like the engine ECU is interpreting the resistance in a some very strange way.

      I experience the same thing with digital temperatures in the instrument cluster (AMG menu) versus what my scan tool shows or what I measure using IR thermometers. The coolant temperature typically differs 15°-20°F, but the oil temperature is within a degree of what my IR thermometers show when the oil temp is measured at the drain plug. So, if I am concerned about when the oil temperature reaches minimum operating temps (176°F or 80°C), I trust what the IC shows digitally. (This is also the point where the digits change from blue to white.) I use these temperatures solely as a guide. Rarely does my oil temp exceed 212°F or 100°C. If it does, I will play close attention to what else is happening.
