I found really interesting the question about the English defeating the Spanish Armada.
I am from Spain and here, instead of saying that the battle was lost, we are taught that a huge storm destroyed all the ships before even getting to the battle.
Turns out history is subjective to the country :D
That is what we learned in Ireland too. Supposedly some spainish sailors washed ashore and stayed. Including one who apparently became the lover or grainneuaile, the pirate queen.
Well thats because thats what happened. England also then went on to lose a lot of their ships to a storm en route to Spain.
Pretty sure both versions happened. Storm hit the armada and what survived was defeated by the British with their smaller ships.
I'm Spanish too and in my school they taught us that the Spanish Armada wasn't appropriately prepared to the weather and the British were more tactically advanced so they won easily.
Not subjective per se, but the few ships that did survive were easy pickings for the English. This of course them became a well publisized victory. Often overstating the ammounts of ships present at the battle. Remember PR has always been important. Still there is no question that there was fighting involved.

_I, a Mexican/American, am more English than Dave._
Honestly from a foreigner standpoint I think Dave did pretty poorly and I lost a bit of respect for him. I find it quite dissapointing that not only he doesn’t know the history that laid the basis of the modern UK political system but he doesn’t even recognize It’s importance over trivial laws about walking your dog or going to court.
