I don't think they're gonna fake out Tech's death. I think the only reason we got his goggles is so that they can be passed to Omega, along with an Armor piece from each batch member. I bet by the end of the series Omega will be the last member of Clone Force 99 Standing.

Come to think of it, the armor idea could echo what Alex pointed out about Boba, that telling Bane he has armor represented the support he had gained.
Beyond that, I agree about Tech. Specifically because he sacrificed himself, that's more impactful if he's actually dead.

I love the idea that Scorch has been leaking intel to other clones. He's been awfully quiet during the two seasons for being so decorated with his original clone armor, standing out so much from the other commandos and being around Dr. Hemlock a lot. Also the way the show zoomed in on him during the baby Zillo Beast episode really feels like they're hinting something!

Extremely upsetting to lose Tech, but we have to also acknowledge the profound beauty in his heroic sacrifice, like we did with Clone 99. We can’t take that away from Tech by wanting him to still be alive or be turned into evil Tech. That would be tragic.

    For the next Q/A
When Kanan tells Ezra why he's hesitant to trust Rex during their first meeting, he explains order 66 and says "Later they said they had chips in their heads that made them do it."
Do you think the "clone uprising" could be as simple as banding together and speaking out against The Empire publicly, while simultaneously revealing the nature of the chips, as well as their lack of of choice in that matter? This could also serve as a sort of galactic apology for what happened to the Jedi.
OR do you think Kanan's line is more like a rumor he heard.
I imagine them hijacking some sort if signal and broadcasting a message across the galaxy- something that could be covered up or altered by The Empire in order to lessen the impact it would have on the public. Alternative facts lol.

I was thinking something along the lines of cybernetic reanimation. Like they remodel him into a close combat bruiser & redesignate him CT###-### Durasteel or just DT01 and implant a new inhibitor chip. The season premier could see Omega somehow "reawaken" his Tech personality. Whereupon they attempt an Elfen Lied esque escape. Hit on the helmet (via an inhibitor chip damaging sniper shot) on the way out. The episode ending can be left ambiguous as to whether he escaped as Tech the person or Durasteel the weapon.

I think Season 3 will be the last, partially because the way this season ended reminds me of Empire Strikes Back: the good guys don't win and they have to go rescue one of their own (Han/Omega and possibly Crosshair) in the next installment. Plus the reveal of the secret family relation (Vader/Emerie), and getting sold out by a close contact (Lando/Cid). So having Bad Batch be a trilogy of seasons would almost seem to "rhyme", as George Lucas would say.

i desperately need to write down all my thoughts somewhere, and i figured here is as good as anywhere
characters in star wars have survived worse falls than tech. even in the same show, hunter falls from a comparable height on daro and literally walks it off. when hemlock throws tech's goggles over to hunter you can see in the episode that the goggles were broken. tech strikes me as the kind of person who would disregard any broken gear, so he would probably leave behind a pair of goggles with broken lenses if making an escape. additionally, hemlock doesn't need anything more than those goggles to convince the batch that tech's dead, which would break them emotionally and make them less effective against the empire. ive also seen some people worry about tech's death feeling weak if he returns, i would fix that by making tech suffer permanent damage from the fall, and i was thinking tech losing his memory works perfectly. tech has gotten a lot of character development, as people have noted, so to see all that gone and replaced by the clean slate he was in the clone wars would be an adequate cost to have him back.
if the batch gets trapped in another dire situation mid/late season 3 and a mysterious person in a cloak rescues them, i wouldn't be surprised if it was tech. then again, this entire ending was a massive fast one performed by the writing team, they would probably introduce a character like that only to reveal some random new guy

I think tech survived the fall and I have a couple of theories one being tech who is a genius repurposing his grapple line and attaching it to the poles that are holding up the train line leaving him stranded on the planet. The other is Saw’s ship could have seen the events on the train lines as they were flying away and went to rescue tech by either tech landing on top of the ship or Saw throwing him a line to pull him up into the ship.

Q&A: What 5 predictions do you think we'll see in The Bad Batch Season 3 since The Bad Batch Season 2 is over and it left a cliffhanger of Omega got captured by the Empire? (My five predictions I think we'll might see are: 1. We might possibly going to see more female clones appeared since Omega is no longer the only female clone. 2. We learned the truth about Jango Fett wanted clone children than the three we know of. 3. I think we'll might see Darth Vader and the rest of the Inquisitors are going to be wiping alot of clones during at the massive Clone Rebellion and this might going to give Wolffe PTSDs when he got it in Star Wars Rebels. 4. Since The Bad Batch no longer works for Cid, they might going to get help from someone else. 5. Crosshair hears the sad news and reacts of Tech got killed during in the Season 2 finale.)

I really think they’re setting up the bad batch to turn into gen 1 death troopers or at least get to the dark sciences behind the development. I think that’s why they are using commandos because they’re designed to be able to execute high risk targets if anything were to go wrong, using crosshair to develop their shooting skills and tech mind to actually develop it. May be out of nowhere but is a story gap we are missing.

We have grown to love the clones so much we forgot that even the lucky ones are doomed to die an early death struggling soon with the effects of old age. I love Tech, but I feel that his death is a reminder into reality of their lives. They didn't have a childhood, all they have known is violence and a government that saw them as equipment at best and experiment scrap at worst. By some miracle they might get a couple happy years...but judging by the reality shown in Andor and (to a smaller extent) this show....that just won't happen. It killed me to see Tech die, but it also shook me out of my 'they can actually live happily ever after' lie we've been believing and hoping for.

They have to, Have To, HAVE TO have Tech be dead. They can't keep pulling the fake death thing and expect it to just be okay with audiences. Yes, as a character, we want him to be alive. But from a storytelling angle, that's a well they can't keep dipping into. They did it with Maul, they did it with Echo, they did it with Palpatine (some are done better than others), and when you get into Force ghosts and the likes, they brought Obi-Wan back, they brought Yoda back, they brought Han back. It's just too much to keep doing the same thing again and again, and it makes death meaningless and audiences will stop caring if they're in any danger because they know death won't last.

10:42 killing Tarkin off might have meant the end of The Tarkin Doctrine, and maybe they would have invested more in smaller ships and a more
numerous fleet to be more nimble fleet which may have been better suited to fighting the insurgents.

I can't imagine a scenario where they bring back Tech and it doesn't feel cheap. I feel like they would have an uphill battle justifying that. It sucks that he died but that's what makes it a compelling story, to undue that could ruin the emotion of that moment. And I don't see how turning him into a death trooper robot wouldn't feel like a retread of Crosshair.

I cannot imagine they really write Tech out of the show. It would not really fit Star Wars. They developed his character and showed him changing towards something new but did not fulfil that quest. He for example still left Phee without really saying goodbye or smiling or anything hinting towards his development. So his development line was broken and this is not what Star Wars does - if we see a development in someone, we usually are shown where it leads to and just before their death there is a resolution on that theme. Techs possible death would basically "just" be how Tech originally was. He would not have decided or acted any other way if it was season 1 Tech - acting out of logic and probability. This would be atypical for Star Wars as such a death would also show a culmination of a personal change someone experienced. This is basically always happenng to the main characters or villains in Star Wars.
