    Idk why but some of the best horses under saddle I've ever had also had the worst ground manners 😄

    With the way his mouth keeps moving it looks kinda like he’s having a conversation with his rider.

    Weird fenceposts! There are suddenly so many of them, that no-one had _any idea_ about at all before you started riding out on the new youngster. I wonder where fhey all came from so suddenly? It's odd how fenceposts can - quite independently! - become so scary on _both_ sides on the Atlantic!

    Pretty is as pretty does ; I bought a flashy yearling a well the words of my dressage trainer
    made me put hours upon hours . A lot of ground work just 15 minutes when he was a baby . Anyway he became a famous show horse that could win at A hunter show. Yes
    I worked on my riding schooling a ton of green horses for another trainer. My colt turned
    out to be one of the best horse’s I’ve ever ridden. What fun ! He was a Ferrari. He loved me. Never sold him . True though flashy horse’s can b a challenge. Better have
    discipline . Did most of the riding myself .

    Just curious: is there some advantage to having very long separate reins? European style is just one loop.

    • @livesoutdoors1708
      @livesoutdoors1708 11 месяцев назад

      It’s called split reins. It’s a western riding thing mostly used with snaffles and allows direct reining better. Certain western events don’t allow them once the horse is advanced or in a curb but some folks like them.

      This is standard western reins. Single loop reins not legal for western judged events. The difference is we work towards riding 1 handed which is done with split reins.

    You need to get a GoPro camera for the “outside” rides.

    When do your horses wear protective boots?

    • @timandersonhorsetraining
      @timandersonhorsetraining  11 месяцев назад +1

      This is going to sound like a smart ass answer but I really don't mean it that way. Short answer is, when they need them. Long answer is I will add additional support when I am adding significant additional stress. Some riding without protective boots makes them stronger where always riding with them makes them dependant on them.

    Foals handled to much by human or hand reared can be pushy and demanding on the ground...
    The boundaries they dont seem to get.
    Had one of those. Wasn't till a shitty mare got annoyed one day...at something else close. Step away just at right moment to ignore his behaviour and not focus on it. He got a double barrel in the chest.
    No pushy animal ever again... By this time he was 8y and done it to everyone...had been a colt for sometime to.
    All in zhe timing...
