There's been a lot of "every feeling is valid" that has been mistaken for "no need for emotional regulation, give in to every single emotional impulse". I'm glad the pendulum is swinging back a little.
“Every feeling is valid” doesn’t mean that every action is valid. Frustration is valid, exploding on a close friend because of your frustration isn’t. I don’t think a few people misrepresenting a statement to justify their bad behavior necessarily means the pendulum has swung in either direction.
So either one of the neighbors that helped you was secretly mad (weird) or got confused and thought you would want the mirror back (strange but maybe) or haunted.
okay i’m not gonna stop thinking about the mirror story for a while like that’s actually very creepy regardless of if it’s due to magic or a weird human 😭
Alison, what shifted for you to help you learn to emotionally regulate? I'm actively working on this and am getting better but there's some triggers that really feel like they overpower me and ruin my day.
Spooky mirror story. There's a house near me that has this gorgeous light outside with 4 big bulbs coming out of gargoyle mouths. I swear every time I drive by the house, the lights turn on. Because it's haunted.
2:26 I think about this all the time now that I'm working on myself. Its insane to me how these people are just charging full steam ahead through life without even being aware of the mechanisms at play in their life. I want to get made at people who are just incapable of emotional regulation because they are trapped by their own mind. It makes me feel so thankful I have what control I do have over my emotions.
That's an interesting question. I think in order to emotionally regulate yourself, you need to be mindful of what you're doing and feeling. So mindfulness helps but I wouldn't say it's the same thing. People can practice mindfulness in their day to day tasks but that doesn't necessarily have to involve emotion regulation.
Yay for emotional regulation! That has been one of the biggest challenges in parenting for me, having to regulate by emotions while lending my calm to a tantruming toddler
Tip for removing contacts: try to look down and at your own nose with the eye you're removing the contact from. I learned this one a month ago and it really works!
I havent worn contacts in years but I could never remove them by the pinching method. I would lean over a clean surface and gently swipe down on the contact with my finger. This would cause it to slide down and out of my eye. That may be a common tip but that was a no fail way to safely remove it back in the day. If I didn't manage to grab it , it was falling onto a clean surface, and then I would just go about my normal solution routine.
I know you must be much more experienced in this than I am, but have you tried clipping these mics onto your tshirts? This seems to work for most people using them 🤔
I’ve been trying to explain to my partner why I worry and him so much and why I get so overwhelmed with him. It’s this. It’s like he has no control over his emotions and so. I’m along for the ride
there's a tumblr post about blaming "the ancient curse" or the "cursed amulet" or whatever on all of life's problems and i think "the haunted mirror" fits right in with that
I’d been unable to emotionally regulate for quite some time, but it doesn’t feel like something I can actively change just by wanting to. Then I started taking antidepressants again a couple of months ago and now I can do it almost effortlessly. Next I want to be able to do it without medication, as I hope not to have to take it indefinitely!
Re: the mirror story, is it out of the question to think one of the girls who helped Gabe clean up put it in his spot? Maybe they thought he still wanted it?
Not to sexualize anyone - but Gabe's voice is very hot... I haven't watched you guys in a while, and I am happy to come back to 2 smart and badass hotties
stopped following years ago. I checked back a couple of years, and things did not look well. now allison has lost her perfect looks. and gabi, like so many lesbians noadays, has gone trans.
We're literally just witnessing the maturation of millennial influencers in real-time.
LITERALLY ❤
My therapist once called me a "pretty regulated person" and I'm still riding that high.
"Due to the mirror" absolutely cracked me up, can't wait to incorporate that phrase into my daily life. Love everything you guys make!
Snort chuckling on the toilet is maybe the most attractive I've felt 🥲🥲

SO invested in the mirror story. would love an update in the future. that is so unsettling.
The thing I tell myself when I’m anxious about something that doesn’t actually matter is “the stakes are low” and it works WONDERS

I saw Gabe's story, and I too was confused and thought it had been put back together and left in the parking spot.
Phantom is clearly not troubled by any spirits
Honestly, the fact that he didn’t hit the mirror with his car purely out of fear PROVES emotional regulation.

So glad we got more info about the shattered mirror

The only person who’s not emotionally regulated in this video is Sugar
Do you think emotional regulation is similar/the same as mindfulness? How does the label of a concept effect your feelings about the concept.

Allison I'm gonna need you to source an exact mirror dupe, glue it to the frame and leave the completed mirror at the top of Gabe's stairs!
sugar looks so funny i’m sorry 😭😭😭 i love her
Perfect summary of such an important topic with a casual comedic vibe! Made my day !😊
Also Gabe, stay safe from the mirror's revenge 😅
Oh god I missed this so much! Love the new stuffed dog we got this season lol

glass disposal steps: cardboard box for glass/mirror shards and a broom/duster (*i will also use a hand vacuum)
*from chem lab rules

I think the trick with broken glass (mirror should be the same) is to wrap it in newspaper. no idea where to get newspaper from these days though!
was gonna say: paper! :) I always just use paper bags i have lying around
I haven't watched this channel in many years and I was like "who tf is this guy??"
I need a mirror update
Using eyedrops beforehand can help to take off contacts
Interesting! I must ask my psychologist about Emotional Regulation for me.
"sadly a touch of nihilism".. same
Okay but you need to ask Claire or Victoria if they put it back in your spot for you since they did not know what apt you lived in?
I only realized after minute 9 that there's a dog on the couch and asked myself if it had been dead the whole time 😅
If the mirror had been fixed I was thinking maybe the neighbors got it fixed for Gabe as a surprise. And put it in the spot so he would see it?
my bet is on victoria and claire for sure
"A$$ Ketchum" wish a freaking popper on his hand? I'm deceased 💀. Troye Sivan would be proud hahahaha.
Just reminding people that Ash Ketchum is 10 years old...
@@FrostedCreations This is Ass Ketchum and he is over 18 and consents
wrap broken mirror/glass in newspaper so it doesnt rip the bag
Was there a cctv at your place to know who placed the mirror there?!
the ass ketchum shirt tho
Is phantom ok lol

I've been gone a bit. Someone know which ex is being crazy
Ok but where do I find Gabe's shirt it's amazing
It's pretty inappropriate in my opinion. Ash Ketchum is 10. And don't tell me it's not supposed to be suggestive.
@@FrostedCreationsoh please
🤍🤍🤍
You put broken glass/mirror in a cardboard box so it doesn't hurt anyone like the bin men (UK) / garbage workers
they are called the "bin men" i love that
Luv my gay parents
🪞 oooooOoOoo

No thanks. Emotional regulation is just emotional labor repackaged.
😂😂😂👌🏾
emotional regulation is for the sake of yourself, not others. even though it can be beneficial in that way too
It's really kind of the opposite. It's a strategy so you're taking on less emotional labor.
Yeah you have to do emotional labor for yourself. Thats a good thing.
Emotional regulation and emotional labor aren't the same thing at all, though...
I hope they break up
Find a hobby...
Who?
there is more to life than this, and I hope you find it
