i want buy the zidoo z10 pro. i have the himedia q10 pro also great player but dont supports dolby vision. is the zidoo z10 pro much better then the himedia q10 pro?
I dont have any experience with the Himedia. The Z10 pro should be an upgrade though if you are looking to add Dolby Vision
@@hatoraidcowboy thanks friend. ok but with 1080p content most of the mediaplayers give the same picture quality?
This is a very well-done video presentation. I appreciate the way you go into all the features and make an occasional suggestion for settings. Subscribed
Thank you and thanks for the sub!
What accessibility features does it have? Does it have TalkBack screen reader?
Hello, I’m not sure on that. I don’t believe so but I can look in the settings
Have s great night
Awesome run down.
Thanks I appreciate it, you have a great night as well.
Great video! I ordered mine last night. Quesiotns:
How is the response when you quickly skip forward and back? Is it as quick as a disk player? I found with Plex it's painfully slow and unstable.
Also, can you recommend a hardware player that can run plex AND supports local media? I have a appletv player and the plex is fine, but it has to stream over my network and a uncompressed 4k file can simply not move quickly enough over my lan.
Its pretty responsive! There’s no disc drive so its pretty instant. Do you have preview thumbnails on PLEX?
@@hatoraidcowboy I do, yes and plex looks good on appletv, but it's very slow in skipping around in the timeline. It also does not show my chapters.
Unfortunately I dont think you’re gonna find a media player that does both for PLEX and local content. 4K media players like Zidoo & Zappiti are meant for playing back local media and that’s it. I believe there is some way to side load apps like PLEX & Kodi, but I hear its a convoluted process and they dont work nearly as good as PLEX clients on other devices
I have the Dune HD Pro Vision 4K Solo and I own an LG OLED 55E7P and was curious if you knew what is the best settings I should use?
Hello and thank you for watching! Unfortunately I dont have any experience with Dune players. What are the video specs?
Wow this looks useful! Zidoo is new to me. I've got a bunch of UHD movies ripped to MKV files and MP4 files on an external USB hard drive attached to my main computer in another room of my house. Can I wirelessly access those files with the Zidoo, or would I have to plug the external USB hard drive into the Zidoo to play them? Thanks for any help you can provide.
You can access all your content on the Zidoo, on your local network over wifi, or via ethernet. Your media needs to be on a computer or NAS also connected to the same network. You would just map your drives on the Zidoo.
You can also hook up a hard drive directly to the Zidoo as well.
@@hatoraidcowboy thanks so much for this helpful info. I'm subscribing to your channel now.
🙌 Thank you!!! Stay tuned because I will have a full video review of the Zidoo on Sunday. 😃

@@hatoraidcowboy excellent, thanks for that, I've just watched your video and funny enough I'm thinking about jumping from Zappiti to Zidoo, I currently have a Zappiti Reference and I'm looking at going for the Zidoo UHD5000. I'm annoyed at what's happened to Zappiti, don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic machine and plays everything I throw at it in the best resolution, unfortunately now they have gone bust and with the closure of the Zappiti cloud unless I want to subscribe to the new R-revolution video app, which I don't really want to do, I find myself looking at another player similar to the Reference which is the UHD5000. Do you know with Zidoo are their video servers connected to a cloud like Zappiti was?
Zidoo Z9X is AWESOME. Update your Zidoo to the ZIUICancer interface and Firmware to v6.4.42 stable.
Update: You need to make sure you update to the latest firmware. You will get DV with ISOs. I
When was this update released? I updated it as soon as I got it and set it for beta releases as well. Will need to look again. Thanks!
@@hatoraidcowboy The update came out yesterday. Check Zidoo's download page.
@@kevonmanuel Thanks man! I will!
Just tried it and it works!!
Good afternoon, congratulations on the content. I need to clear up a doubt. I'm from Brazil and I'm thinking about buying this product. I already have a PC that serves as a server, I have several films on it. And I watch the movies on TV (via the WiFi network, it's not wired to the server PC) through Plex. I want a zidoo so I can have maximum quality, with dtsX atmos and so on. My question is: With the zidoo z9x can I watch movies like the plex? Without cabling the server PC with the zidoo device. This way, without cables, just on the same WiFi network, the films run smoothly? no crashes or loadings?
Yes you CAN…..but you’re at the mercy of your wifi. I would HIGHLY encourage and recommend your PC & Zidoo be hardwired with ethernet.
@@hatoraidcowboy thks brother. I will do that
No problem brother!
@@hatoraidcowboy one more question =), Which cable do I use to pass information from the PC (server) to the Zidoo? network cable? USB? Because the zidoo will be connected via HDMI to the TV. But between the PC and the Zidoo, which cable?
@lucasadd You dont need to connect the Zidoo to the PC. They just need to be on the same local network.
I have the Zidoo UHD3000 and think it’s a fantastic way to play your “Local Media”. I personally like it better than Plex for that reason. I rip in iso format so I get the menus. Still use my Panasonic UB9000 in the theatre room and use the Zidoo in the lounge room. Will get the z9x for my daughter. Great piece of kit. Thanks for posting.
Looking forward to the full review!
Thank you!
Hi, thanks for review! Great. There was only mention of ISO and MKV files but does this player play a clean rip of 4k bluray disc lossless audio, no compression, no alteration and via the DISC folder setup that you get from ripping BD? I dont want to rip blurays and then create MKV or ISO. I have noticed some players play files and the information indicates that you have all audio support like atmos, dolby vision and the size is correct, but the player (Nvidia shield pro for example) doesnt send through the sound correctly via eARC LG OLED CX to Marantz reciever. I still feel Im struggeling to find a player that handles it ALL, NO CONVERSION NEEDED, NO COMPROMISES and NO MUSTS before playing, just play it raw. Is there one? :)
thanks for reply
Hello and thanks for watching! I think you’re talking about BDMV folder? If so yes it does support BDMV file support and you will get 1:1 playback, no compression, or downsampling. I’ll try to cover that in the formal review.
It plays full iso if set up correctly I just rip the full movie to a iso I use ts muxer to create a iso or bluray BDMV folder
one drawback is it doesn't have the RCA audio out for connection to Hi Fi equipment, did you tried the 3.5mm AV out whether the audio really works ??
Hello! I’m using this for purely Home Theater, movies and tv shows.
I have a doubt if will reproduce the full blu ray and 4k full menu function WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM? All the latest Android-based TV boxes that I have seen in friends have the same problem, the full menu playback function has problems, It doesn't work perfectly as it does on the OPPO UDP 205, 205, when I read the specifications for example of the latest Dune they say "full menu playback in development", I'm not saying that they don't work but the menus always cause problems, so it would be interesting to know if These will have the same problem, I repeat all the ones I have seen based on Android have problems with the full menu playback function,
In my case I am not at all interested in any "smart" function, since the TV boxes began to do "everything" the problems began, for example I have my DUNE HD MAX, it is more than 10 years old, and all the Blu ray even the latest ones work perfectly with the full menu function, why? Simple, it doesn't use Android and is focused on being able to play the movies as perfectly as possible with its menus
Blu Ray menus work fine for me
Can this player be set so that the TV does not always perceive it as an HDR signal, but has 4K upscaling? Because my Thomson THA100 player is always detected by the samsung TV as an HDR signal, even when I play SDR content.
Did you alter your video settings? If you dont want HDR up conversion your video settings should be set to auto
Basically the media player itself is empty,no movies unless you ripped from 4k disc or bluray and store in the server or HDD,SSD,right?
Correct
Thanks a lot for the review, love it! I just have 3 questions, 1) were you able to make it retrieve the file via plex connection? Or direct to PC only? 2) Does it play DV profile 8 or go to HDR mode? 3) Can you customize the subtitle color and font?
Thank you!! I havent tried accessing PLEX, but I’m using the same files that I am using on my PLEX server on the same computer. It should play all DV profiles as long as your content and players support DV. I’ll try to see if I can test the subtitle color and font.
@@hatoraidcowboy thanks for clarifying, really appreciate it
@@yhnjumld No problem!
Thanks for clarifying!
I would never use my Zidoo for PLEX. Zidoo is best used as a media player. I use my NVIDIA SHIELD for PLEX. The Zidoo is a superior player in my opinion. I just hope Zidoo adds preview thumbnails.
thanks, what you left out was the price differential between this player and the entry level zappiti. That is an objective difference. Having said that since I have both players I always use the Zappiti.
Yea Zidoo’s are priced cheaper for pretty much the same functionality. I feel like Zidoo’s GUI is MUCH better with more customization. Both are great though.
@@hatoraidcowboy hi newbie here to your channel I currently have the Zappiti 4k mini what would be your opinion to which one has the better picture quality
I dont think there’s much difference in picture quality. When I had the Zappiti I never noticed a difference. The biggest difference was the GUI.
Where do you get the movies from?
I buy my movies from Best Buy
it's good value for money, but it's been on sale since 2020, you have to look for it second-hand I think. no information on a new model.

Hi , I’m a newbie and I wanted to know if we can hook it to a streaming device like chromecast to solve the inbuilt app issues ?
Hello and thank you for watching! I havent tried that but it has an hdmi in. I’ll try to test it when I do the review.
Great overview. Zidoo cannot run streaming apps is that right?
Thank you!
@Aaron H Thanks for the info. I dont use my Zidoo for apps but I have tried to install some purely for curiosity and testing purposes and havent been able to figure out how. I think Zidoo makes you go to an ip address of the Zidoo to install apps but hasnt worked for me.
That being said I use my apple tv for streaming apps.
@Aaron H @Hatoraid Cowboy Cinema Would you say the Zidoo is worth it over just using something like the Shield that does Plex and streaming apps all in one?
Zidoo allows side loading apps. It is noteworthy that the Z9X has 2G Ram. Running other services/apps can steal ram from Zidoo services causing playback issues. Doubling ram to 4G would be the thing to do if Zidoo really wanted to support side apps along with Zidoo native apps. FYI even though side apps are allowed, they are not supported. The user does all the support. Only Zidoo apps HT4/MP7 etc. are truly supported. Consider this a local media streaming box.
@@SealedOrPorted Yea I cant even figure out how to load apps on the Zidoo just for curiosity and testing purposes. This is a dedicated file player. If I need streaming apps I’ll use my Apple TV or Shield.
Is there a difference in quality specifically sound quality between the ISO and MKV?
No, either format will give you a 1:1 copy of the audio
What samba mode does it support? 1, 2, 3??
Not sure on that, and not sure how to find thar out.
@@hatoraidcowboy as i understand the PRO version supports 1, 2, 3.
@@vardagsteknik6576 What’s the difference between them?
@@hatoraidcowboy smb1 you should not use for security reasons. 2/3 is fine to use. It's protocol for file uasages in samba.
Quick question, I have a Zidoo Z9X arriving tomorrow and was curious how you're connecting to your media server? As a Plex user, I was told the easiest way was to install an Emby server (alongside my Plex server) and it would connect without issues. Thanks again
I’m using SMB on the Zidoo and I’ve shared all my folders over the network on my computer. You dont have to install Emby unless you want to
@@hatoraidcowboy great, thank you. I appreciate your videos.
@@jeremynorris2889 Thank you man I greatly appreciate your support and kind words.
Where do you find that info? I typically havent had many issues with file names as my mkv rips are the same files/file names I am using for my PLEX server.
Thanks! Yea there has been a few isolated movies where it didnt match the correct info, but its pretty easy to re-match them. 95% of the time the match is correct though.
Are you able to add more than 16tb of storage? If so how?
16 TB is the max storage
dolby atmos support if yes why not written on body kit and its box ? displayed with dts on its body kit why it not?

How did you manage to update weather to your city?
I believe I just clicked on the weather and there was an option to change it.
What’s a zidoo with you?
This sounds like some Dr. Seuss stuff
This is excellent, one of the better videos I've seen. However, the intro logo with all the flashing colors is enough to give someone a seizure.
LOL Sorry don’t seize on me 😀 And thank you! I have a different intro now.
By the way could you try & see if the JVC DLA-NZ8 ST Player will play that BD ISO in Dolby Vision?
Hello! I dont have a JVC. I have an Epson 5040UB
Will this work to pass through Dolby True HD Atmos (lossless) audio with DV/HDR video via hdmi to tv? As currently no tv or Plex play Dolby atmos TrueHD passing the full audio signal to soundbar.
Are you asking about earc?
Yes.
This only has HDMI 2.0. So it doesnt support e-arc. If you’re trying to go directly into the tv and pass Atmos to your soundbar you’ll only get lossey audio. You’d need something like an HDFury.
That means, if I have a ripped blu ray which has Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos TrueHd (lossless atmos), Z9X will not be able to pass the Dolby atmos trueHD (lossless atmos) to the TV via its hdmi then from tv to the soundbar?
Correct. If you’re going from the Z9X straight to a receiver or soundbar that has hdmi switching and supports atmos you’re fine. If you’re going from Z9X straight to your display and trying to send audio back or arc to a receiver or soundbar you wont get atmos. That’s not a limitation of the Z9X per say. ALL your devices in the audio chain need to support HDMI 2.1 with earc to do what you’re wanting to do.
What is the best zidoo player and what are the differences between all of them
I’ve only been able to test the Z9X, which I own. I hope to get the Zidoo Z1000 pro in the future.
Great video, new subscriber here 👍 Do you have this Zidoo Z9X connected to a HDFury 4K Vertex2 ? Some on AVS Forum say this combination is great.
Thank you for the support! I have my Z9X connected to an HD Fury 4K Diva and it works great.
How is your computer connected ?
Mine, with all my movies on external hard drive is linked with Plex through cpl to the tv. Everything working except I tried mad max, and transcoding made lags and freezes...dolby vision, mkv, hdr10, dolby Atmos true hd 7.1 rips, except if watching in sdr but ugly...
Don't know if this could be the perfect solution...
I’m connected to my computer via smb over the network. I intend on connecting a hard drive directly for some rips.
How did you get PLEX access on the Z9X?
@@hatoraidcowboy what is smb please ?
I don t have the zidoo yet.
But definitely looking for something able to read all my 4K rips. And now with Plex only with all the movies on an external drive connected to my computer... Which is in another room and linked to the all network with CPL and cat7 cable, 95% is working but for some not ...transcoding (when using subtitles for exemple) subtitles : movie in sdr washed and ugly. No subs : beautiful HDR picture but freezing lagging... The heaviest one (like mad max fury rage is not yet working)...II must also try to remux the mkv and see if it is working then and second with the external drive directly connected to the tv.... @@hatoraidcowboy LG 65UH8500. I managed to get it to display 4K with Dolby Vision for a short while. After turning it back on it's reverted back to displaying 1080P
Hmm, that is odd. I would double check the settings in the Z9X to make sure the output is not downscaling to 1080. How did you rip your movies?
@@hatoraidcowboy I've been trying to isolate which setting is causing the downscaling. When I switch to VS10 is automatically goes to 1080p. I use DvdFab.
Try turning that off. I believe the VS10 engine “upscales” non Dolby Vision to dolby vision. I tried it and didnt care for it. Also make sure the 4K & dolby vision flag is present when you’re in the media library. If it was copied correctly it should show 4K & Dolby on the movie you have selected before you hit play
Can it play MakeMKV self-ripped Dolby Vision Mkv files (so no weard combination of files that messes up the DV) from a external SSD? Or do I need to rip in the BDMV file structure?

I really like this player, I ripped a few hundred movies in ISO bluray and UHD, I also detected some movies in ISO which did not play in Dolby Vision which should support it by default, but I can confirm that most ISOs will support it correctly and play it in Dolby Vision, and also be aware that some menus don't work well or not at all, otherwise I just have good things to say about this player.
Yup. Its such a great player. Have been highly impressed with it so far. So many features. I plan on ripping more iso’s
@Let's talk... I couldn't say, maybe the player is defective? I never had any problems with SDR or HDR but I already experienced freezes and slowdowns with DV ISO format directly from USB, I updated to the latest beta firmware but the problem persists.
Just do movie only iso or BDMV FOLDERS they all play
DV FEL test maybe ? 1619 not support DV FEL as opposed mediatek on reavon and sony
Hello! I’m sorry I’m not sure I understand your question?
I think he’s referring to the 3 features in the full DV profile? BP, rPU, EL, FEL. Fel is Full Enhancement Layer. I think he wants you to test the chipset (chip is Realtek 1619) in the Zidoo to see if you can get the Full Enhancement Layer on profile 7 Dolby Vision. I don’t think this device can decode dual video streams simultaneously which is required for FEL. This is what a high end Oppo disc player does or most DV disc players. Not sure how much better it is than streaming DV , profile 5, or low latency DV, or vs10 or even madVR.
Anywho, great videos MR Hatoraid. Z9X Zidoo is the best player imo. Looking forward to more of your videos on the Zidoo, HDFury, and LLDV. Great work

Ummm, what??
Terms like "Android 9.0" scares me when we are currently on Android 13 right now. The phrase "Android 9.0" makes me feel like I'm using ancient technology. I won't buy a Digital media Player with "android" in the title. But all the ones that don't have "Android" in the title, usually have USB 2.0 port.....and USB 2.0 is 23 year old technology. I'm just trying to find a digital media player, that doesn't have "android" operating system and uses USB 3.0 instead of USB 2.0......but I swear, there are literally NO digital media players like that. And the ones that are, are rated terribly on Amazon. Are there any non android digital media players that support USB 3.0 that don't have terrible reviews??? If you can point me in the right direction toward one, I'd gladly use your link to help your channel out as well.
Unfortunately there is no “perfect” media player. Zappiti and Zidoo are probably the best out there right now, but they both have some minor flaws.
If I come across any other players worth reviewing I’ll definitely let you know! Thanks for the support!
