While the app is designed for users 13 years and older, its lack of parental controls and exposure to so many strangers makes us wonder if Discord is safe for kids.

I know this video will be 2 years old in july this year, but lucky Parent control is an option in Discord today, it's called Family Center. I don't see a video on your YT channel following up on that :) My niece is turning 9 this july, and her "sister"-BFF is turning 9 in october. They also have a summer friend who is turning 6 years in april (one of my best friends son). They all play Minecraft local, and because they don't see each other that often since my niece had to move, I came up with the idea they could play together online. So I have helped setting up Discord account for the kids with Family Center turned on, I made a Discord server only for them, and they have a Realms they can play at. It works perfect, the kids are safe and are having a wonderfull time playing Minecraft together, with supervision from us adults. :)

It's also dangerous for some discord servers because they can be shut down because children are in them
these discord parenting videos are quite useless. its pretty clear that the minimum age requirement to use social media is 13 and but in other countries its different.
for example in South Korea you have be at least 14 to use discord.

fellow kids and young teenagers help join the quest to wipe this video off of the face of the Internet! These videos are useful to let parents know that XYZ is safe for their child, but they only talk about the bad things. They don’t talk about how there are some servers that are safe and have good staff team, they just talk about the bad things and all that kind of stuff. If you actually talked to your child about online safety instead of just playing a video from the year 2004 then should be doing OK then. Just please, I’m begging you, don’t look through your kids social media. they will lose your trust and then you won’t be questioning why they never talk to you or visit you when you grow old.
