I guess they really get stressed since they aren’t fluent in English. I know some people panics when faced with such an awkward situation. They say that’s also the reason for gaijin seats on Japanese trains.
I used to work in Donki, they usually have staff who can speak foreign languages. So if you ask a Japanese speaking staff, they would call another one, who can speak your language. But the staff you met seems to be very kind as she decided to help you without calling English speaking staff, or they didn’t have one😂
So Steven, Stan and Stewie your parents did an awesome raising the three of you. Y'all gave the best mannerisms, you are very behaved and I love tge bond between three of you. I kived this video it was very good!.
I needed this video! I'm visiting Tokyo rn while watching this video. Yesterday, a tour guide said I sounded "cute" when I spoke Japanese. So, I guess I'll use English from now on until I figure out if that was a good or bad thing. 🙃
My first ever out of the country trip was to Japan. It can be very intimidating to travel to the other side of the planet but it was an amazing experience and the hospitality was outstanding! This was back in 2018 too. Cant wait to come back!
I went to japan last year and felt SO GUILTY every time I spoke english... I tried to use the 10-something japanese expressions I knew as much as I could... AND THEN THERE'S YOU 😅
my family and i are traveling to japan in a few weeks and we know little to none japanese (we will learn the basics before leaving!) so this was very helpful!! thank you!! I LOVE U GUYS SM
I mean it does make sense, thinking about it now the chance of meeting a cop in America that speaks multiple languages fluently is jobs hard unless they grew up with that and that majority of police are white so…I guess they also wouldn’t think about it considering they look on the older side. Still really weird reaction
@@adrianhalstead2912 The top 4 most commonly-spoken languages are Chinese, Spanish, English and Hindi. Cops in the US can speak English and Spanish. I expect a cop to be able to speak another commonly-used language other than their own.
As a British person, your British accent (a Cockney hybrid) was actually good, we just don't speak THAT strongly 😂😂 If you are a British person living in a major city, you commonly come across people who don't speak English as a first language so we often switch the type of English accent we use (we would switch to more formal accent) and speak slower. As an English speaker, I forget how privileged I am to speak a language that many try to accommodate around the world. When I travel to Asia, I see signs in public written in the country's language, other Asian languages and English. In the UK, you only see signs in English (in Wales some Welsh, and in random places Mandarin and Bengali).

we wanted to buy a bag in Akabane! and the staff lady did not speak english but was so kind and used google translate and we literally were able to order a different color to the store and buy it. very nice :)
This was my life until I was 21 and moved abroad. Born and raised in Japan and went to a Brazilian school in Ibaraki. Didn't even know English until I was older. Plus I lived in the countryside XD. Not being able to read signs, labels, have small talks with strangers, they were all just part of my routine.
I hope on seeing another "speaking only in japanese for 24 hours" cause i love challenges that includes languages, especially since im learning japanese
i love your videos so much yall match my humor so much😭 especially when yall eat foods from combinis since its my fav thing in japan like its so different compared to the Philippines like what the fuck😓😓
We went to Japan with almost zero Japanese knowledge. We were at Namba OCAT looking for Starbucks using Google maps but we can't find it despite it saying we are already at the location. We asked a man in blue uniform (I don't know if he's a security guard or a police?), he doesn't speak English but he understood what we said. He pointed at the direction and said something in Japanese but we couldn't understand it. But with body language, we were able to decipher what he said (Starbucks is at the basement and we need to take the elevator). We said our thanks and walked to the elevator, but he followed us, I thought he was also going to that direction, but he actually went with us and made sure that we found Starbucks 😂 So kind ❤
It's always good to know at least the basics of another country's language when you go there. This video was fun. If someone in "merica did this we'd be called something that starts with a `T' and then get s-hot, so it's fun to see the safe version.
Although this may be completely different, growing up I lived in a country that had a different accent of English from what my family’s accent was. So naturally I only spoke that accent with them. But when I moved back to my native country it was so hard to speak naturally with everyone with that accent because I was accustomed to speaking to strangers in the other country’s accent 😭😭😭 So I totally get how it was hard to speak English to the Japanese people but it’s comes easy to speak with it to us, your viewers.
I passed out when Stan thanked the Taxi driver in flawless Japanese! 🤣 But Stan and Stewie specifically could be great actors, like the way they handled the hotel waitress situation and went through it without laughing was so professional, thank you Stan for this video ❤ it was so funny 👍🏻.
I went to japan a couple years ago and even though i knew a couple words like arigato, sumimasen, ohayou, i was way too nervous to say them out loud and spoke engish the entire time, i felt so bad 😭😭 going again this year and I have been STUDYING 📚 so i'm looking forward to the chance to try communicating in japanese this time !!
I actually did ask for directions in English at the police box in Osaka... They were nice enough to get someone who does speak English and help me out... but his directions were a little bit confusing but that is because I didn't know that you could cross train tracks in Japan.
