  • For me woodturning isn't just about the finished product but also finding the wood. For this project I took a cycle trip to Glastonbury. I had the idea of finding some wood and making it into a grail because Glastonbury is always associated with the legend of King Arthur. I found this piece of oak by the gate to a field, lying in the shadow of the Tor. I turned it into a grail, finished it with olive oil and beeswax and took it back. There is something beautiful about leaving a piece of art in the place where the raw material was found.I wonder if it's still there?

Fabulous grail Jon. The size is great and so is the finish, it just glows. Thank you for sharing it with us.
    Keep on turning.
    Cheers, Bluey 👍

Thanks for your kind comments, Bluey. The finish is ordinary sunflower oil and pure beeswax. I really like the colours and deep sheen they bring out. They're both very cheap too! Happy turning.
