    You should definitely react to the live 1994 Pulse version of this song. The guitar solo is much longer and takes you into a different dimension. Also you get to see the greatest light show of any rock concert ever.

    A Pink Floyd song, by its own, is generaly very hard to fully comprehend. To get a good understanding, you really have to listen to the full album, from begining to end.
    This song, like most Pink Floyd song, is like a movie score. The music (and few lyrics) guides you through your own life's experiences and the movie occurs in your head. It's for you alone!

    The reason Pink Floyd was so good was that dichotomy…. Roger Waters’ dark sinister lyricis, David Gilmour’s hopeful positive tone and voice. I can think of no other band that quite pulled that off, the yin and the yang, like they did

    • @retroreactions....
      @retroreactions....  Год назад +1

      That's what makes the songs so amazing, yet haunting. Was David the only singer, or did they share lead vocal duties?

    • @mikewatts867
      @mikewatts867 Год назад +4

      @@retroreactions.... they both sang, as did they keyboard player Richard earlier. Their best songs are the ones where they both sing. Hey You, Comfortably Numb, Mother, to name a few

    • @retroreactions....
      @retroreactions....  Год назад +1

      I assume you mean David and Roger both sang. Syd also appears to be a lead singer (still learning about the band). I love bands that utilize multiple lead singers (ala Fleetwood Mac).

    Pink Floyd is Legendary man, an Experience, they are one of the GOAT's in Rock Music history. Likely the greatest Progressive Rock band ever, they have sold over 250 million albums worldwide.
    Pink Floyd was formed in London in 1965, they are especially known for their extended compositions, spacey psychedelic sonic experimentations, prodigious live performances, and philosophical lyrics.
    I've been a PF fan since 1973 when they released their epic "Dark Side of the Moon" album, one of the best-selling albums of all time, over 55 million.
    If you're planning on going down the Pink Floyd Rabbit Hole, you're in for a Hella ride, being exposed to some of the finest music ever written, performed by some of the most proficient Rock musicians and artists in the business!

    Some people consider Comfortably Numb to be Pink Floyd's finest song.
    It may well be their most recognisable and famous song, though wether it's their best is always, and constantly up for debate.
    Everyone has their own preferance of course, as no two Pink Floyd concept albums sound alike, and their songs cover and incorporate a broad spectrum and mix of Genres.
    From Classic Rock to Country, Symphonic, Orchestral, Classical, Blues, Folk, Synth, Big Band, Acapella, Male Voice Choir, Psychadelic, 80's, New Age, and just about everything else in between, Pink Floyd's got you covered.
    Not bad for one group...
    Cheers for the reaction video.

Also had the extreme luck and pleasure of meeting them backstage twice! ('94 and '09, sadly Dave was not there either time). So excited for the new material!! Been too long...

    If you want full gigantic sound try two songs off of Dark Side Of the Moon. Try the song "Time" and then "Us and Them"!
    Some of the Floyd songs have long intros Before lyrics starts such as their fabulous song "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" from the "Wish You Were Here" album!!! That's just a few of a massive amount of incredibly great songs by them! You've tripped into a bottomless rabbit hole with these guys! Enjoyed the reaction, keep going......we'll enjoy them together!

      Hi Jon. Thanks for the kind words. Us and Them I heard a few times a couple of years ago and instantly loved. Listened to it yesterday and the intro still makes me tear up and goosebumps. I will definitely react to Time and on the channel. I'm a huge fan of long intros, long outros and long songs! For Shine On..., are parts 1-5 better than 6-9? I see they are separated on the album. Are they 2 different songs? Or 1 whole song that needs to be listened back to back?

      You won’t be sorry!! The voices are even more dark in the Pulse version. This was written by Roger Waters. He went to a Dr before a show which gave him a shot that numbed him. The dark was the Dr speaking to him. All sorts of fuzzy as he was numb. He once said that he has know idea how he even got through the show being his arms and hands were numb!

      I watched it yesterday and it blew my mind, and yes it made me cry! Was not prepared. Of course they are masters of live performing, but the multiple voices and harmonies on the verses which I already loved made them even more amazing and haunting. Then the extended solo and light show were off the charts. What legends....thanks again for the suggestion!

    Absolutely magical. Yes, it’s funny you said you wanted it to keep going.
    This original studio album recording from ‘The Wall’ does fade out quite quickly.
    But as all Pink Floyd fans know, we’ve been blessed with phenomenal Live Versions of ‘Comfortably Numb’, with the extended ‘Solo’. I agree with everyone that the Live ‘Pulse’ version is amazing. There are many fantastic performances of it from different Live Shows too. But another incredible performance of it which I personally love and recommend you try, is David Gilmour and his Band, performing back at the Roman Amphitheater at Pompeii, in 2016. Here’s the link below. Goosebumps every time, incredible.

    I’d also recommend you listen to the Albums, ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ (1973), ‘Wish You Were Here’ (1975) and ‘The Wall’ (1979), from beginning to end, as they are all Concept Albums. And there is also of course, the movie of ‘The Wall’, starring Bob Geldof.
    These are just my own feelings, of course. Enjoy. 🎶🎸❤️🎸🎶

When we did homework at my house, it was Motown & P-Funk! 🤭 She fell in love with Marvin Gaye & Smokey Robinson. 🥰 I fell in love with David Gilmour, Geddy Lee & Roger Daughtry.
