Thanks a bunch! I just put a tonneau cover on my 2004 Ram 1500 Quad cab, and want to put a locking handle on it. Now I don't have to worry about "surprises" that occur so many times when doing a "simple" job! Great video!
A million thank you's to you all for posting this video..Great tip on the lube, because as you said this what causes the undo stress on the plastic parts.
You guys are amazing, always give the tool info need maintenance needed ez to follow instructions one again 1A Auto Parts make owning my 2008 Ram1500 a pleasure

I don't need the handle. I need the piece that the handle connects to; specifically those two little plastic clips that snap over the linkage that goes right and left. I can't find the proper wordage on any parts site. Any help?
You don't use grease to lubricate locks and latches. Yall should know better. Grease attracts dirt and the actually grease reacts with plastic. A smart person would use lock lube which is a dry lubricant
+Elijah Ellis It may be a different procedure on that application. If you would like to reply back with the year of your Dodge Dakota we can see if we carry the replacement tailgate handle for you. 1aauto.com

Thanks. This is the second time I've used your videos to fix my truck.
This video was so easy to follow. Now I don't have to go to a shop to get this replaced. Thank you.
I own one of these trucks. Your videos are a tremendous help. Thanks.
Very nice, I didn’t need to replace it, the brass pin that held it in place popped out and made the handle lopsided. Thank you so much
Thanks for this video. I am going to replace the original latch with an locking latch that looks OEM.
If the handle is broke. Take the handle off and try to pop the tailgate open with one of the rods inside.
Very informative - looks very easy to do with video - thanks
