Do you have a video that goes into more detail on how to use a layer mask first, then the duplicate or clone tools so you don't mess up the original image?
I got lost in the final task. (scaling the cloned jogger). Apparently, the reference point will not show on default. You need to enable that in edit > preference > tools > tick show reference point. Otherwise, you won't be able to duplicate what he's doing and be scratching your head for some time. also, in windows, you need to press alt (not shift+alt) as the latter would change the aspect ratio of the jogger.
For the second one, GOD I LOVE THE CLONE TOOL! I abuse the living daylight out of it. One thing I did figure out the other day was, once you've cloned something [if the background does not look right], select the healing tool thing, and go over the areas that stick out like a soar thumb. It should make for a presentable surface. It's not perfect by any means, but it does get the job done somewhat. I even used it on wood-grain, and it sorted that out about 65%. However, one thing I'd like to add about the heal tool is to ONLY use it if you're working with similar objects (say background with a cloned background, or brick wall with a cloned brick wall, etc). I don't know though. I'm still a beginner, so that's how I'm doing it for now.
Amazing work always Nate! The 2 new ways I've learned to duplicate are duplicating in perspective & manual perspective duplication! Your videos help keep the inspiration fresh throughout the day! I also haven't used the patch tool too much for duplication but it's a great way to manipulate any photos.
Layers! I've been taking your advice and duplicating layers. I actually made a poster and extended the top ceiling of a gazeebo, in that quick and dirty way, and added a gaussian blur and it looks great. The bottom of the poster has an image with already a blur at the bottom, so it fit well. I duplicated and then extended before blurring. I made a few errors first, so those new layers were a real time saver.
I'm stuck on the first step. How do you cut something out? I used the lasso and its blinking aroudn the edges, but I don't know how to get it on a new layer
you can right-click and then select "layer via copy" and if nothing shows up, go back to the blinking stage and right-click and select "select inverse" and then "layer via copy". hope that works!
Why you don't show up how to select, I'm a beginner and I don't know how to select it, If I do and try to copy it does not work, so show how to select and then paste it
Awesomerthan Awesomeness sorry if I came on too strong but if you’re going to teach something try to do it in a way that people could take notes if needed. You obviously have a lot of knowledge and skill but showing us how fast you can do it is not really helpful. I was short with you because I was so frustrated trying to learn something from you. Please forgive my rudeness.
3:13 The method of duplication using CMD + J is the hotkey for "Create New Layer Via Copy." Not Duplicate. It works as intended though.
Most Valuable Channel on RUclips.

Can i copy and paste without forming new layers?

nice bro
For some reason when I press option, it does not make a new copy of the image, and only lets me move it rather than making a new copy
Works with CS6??
Dude, outside of Andrew Kramer, you’re probably the best presenter. Thank you for the super-helpful, clear and efficient lesson.
Thanks for another great tutorial! You're effort and knowledge is appreciated.
the patch tool option. NICE. Didn't know about that. I've been a cloner. Thanks for sharing!

i have a question
I want to duplicate a selection.
Why you don't show up how to select, I'm a beginner and I don't know how to select it, If I do and try to copy it does not work, so show how to select and then paste it

You could probably cut this video time down by 80% if you would just got run your mouth just get the point dude.
Dude, you are very knowledgeable but you talk WAAY too fast.
Way to move so fast to prohibit name from even following along! A lot a good info, but your presentation is horrid.
You could always change the speed if your too slow to keep up
