The people who are"nobody's"haven't heard of Nils and who cares. The people that knows something about music and great guitar playing knows about Nils and that's all that matters.
In the 1980s I was a broke Army private and I bought two Nils Lofgren albums from the discount rack for a couple of bucks. I went back to the barracks and played them, Including this song, No Mercy. It was the best two bucks I ever spent. Nils is the man!
I heard Nils for the first time 1979 in german TV, for us guitar-fans he was an occasion - his style was very special - a mix from country, blues and rock... great musician
God why haven’t I seen you. What a talented guy. I just loved watching you perform with Bruce on stage at Gillett Stadium. You move so effortlessly Nils with that guitar in hand!
Seriously. I worship the guy as a member of the E Street Band (diehard Bruce fan) and as a solo musician. What a champion of guitar! I've seen him twice in concert alongside Springsteen and he's the best guitarist I've seen in person. I now want to see him on his own tour, to hear "No Mercy" and "Across the Tracks" would be incredible moments! Who here has seen him live?
Seen him live over a dozen times, starting in 1970 and mostly in the 70s and 80s. Couple times with Bruce, and about 10 times solo. Incredibly talented musician who's blessed us with some incredible guitar licks. No one plays guitar like Nils.
First saw Nils at the legendary concert at Merriwether Post in Columbia when Led Zeppelin opened for The Who (late 60's), and Nils was strolling through the lawn seats playing acoustic guitar. A week later went to the Coffee Clatch in the student union of the infant UMBC and recognized the lead guitar of Grin, Nils, as the same guy in Columbia.
I was never a big fan of Nils Lofgrens music or songs, but as a guitarist myself I have always admired his playing, he is really something special. Great guitar player
Nils is a very complete musician (classic formation, violin, piano, bandoneon, accordeon, guitars...+ great singer + gymnastics!, + so good teacher, etc...) and a very great composer. He is so friendly and good to people, down to hearth guy, great father, etc... Those Vai & Petrucci are just guitarists, even they are amazingly good. In Nils, we like Nils the first.
I first saw Nils with The Santa Monica Flyers [Neil Youngs band 73] on the legendary and infamous "tonights the night tour" after that i saw him loads of times especially the mean fiddler and jazz cafe uk venues .A true muscian regards jimmy
so great. one of few acts left that would be worth the ticket price . Dozens of top-notch songs and yet so skilled he can afford to play wingman for Springsteen. If. Huey Lewis had sung 'I Came To Dance' it would be a #1 hit.....
Someone here says that this man is UNDARRATED. A guy playing with Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young is UNDERRATED in your mind?!?! Don't you know that above Bruce and Neil there is only God!?!?!
One of the most under appreciated guitarists in history . It's little wonder Springsteen stole him away from Crazy Horse to play lead , virtuoso and rhythm guitar for him . Nils could also play keyboards pretty well .
Another one of my late 70s obscure favorites. This song is hard to find in the live, electric version. This video is a great rendition of this song which preaches at what cost for victory and success?.............when do we show compassion? when it'sconvenient or non-impacting? Give it up for Nils Lofgren's guitarwork, finishing footwork, and cool headband.
+Lars Wulff Old strat - OBL pickups (probably 450 R) the rest i don't know. From the clarity of sound I'd say a Fender Twin amp. Bill Lawrence could have wound a special set for him, but i haven't seen any info on that. The 450R pickups do not exist anymore, however a very close cousin L45s does, and the l200s is also very close. Bill Lawrence/Wilde pickups have an unreal clarity to them. Highly recommended. Also, he has a booster on the guitar which lowers the impedace, further enhancing the highs and harmonics.
Maybe this tour was just after we went concert with them. Nils great person, but all the band. They invited us to join them for dinner, and after concert we had a few drinks, and laughs, together. Fantastic band.
Saw him in the 80th with Bruce Springsteen in East-Berlin... and solo two times in the 90th... everytime good concert, excellent guitar, very simple but very good live performance... and this song played in a neverending tape during one of may best se. ever!
The most underrated, underapreciated guitarist ever. Saw him twice at Mohegan Sun Casino and wow simply awesome, only guitarist I would rate ahead of Nils is Brian May
The most underated musician ever. One of a kind and to people that know of his music, one of the best.
It's a goddamn shame more people aren't aware of him and his talent 😢
Fully agree, just a great guitarist 😉
I have followed Nils for donkeys years 😉
The most brilliant musician nobody has heard of. Absolutely brilliant....and a real nice guy.
The people who are"nobody's"haven't heard of Nils and who cares. The people that knows something about music and great guitar playing knows about Nils and that's all that matters.
You're right👍
Oĥh I've known about Nils for a long time. Enjoying the new and the older songs!! He's downright amazing!!
I heard of him in 1980 and I had his album! And I lived in a small town!
I heard you of him from the word go!
England loved him
In the 1980s I was a broke Army private and I bought two Nils Lofgren albums from the discount rack for a couple of bucks. I went back to the barracks and played them, Including this song, No Mercy. It was the best two bucks I ever spent. Nils is the man!
This is awesome. I love discovering new music. Nails is amazing. Such a genuine artist.
Noch immer unfassbar gut. Ich finde es wunderbar👍
Das sollte Dir ein 'finde' wert sein

Best guitar player I've ever seen - love his songs too - he's flipping great.
Flipping as in the song Flip and he used to have a trampette on stage
This song has brought me to tears more than once.
I'm not a big boxing fan but this has to be the coolest song ever written about the sport!
I know him since 1977 --- absolut great musican --- love this song
I heard Nils for the first time 1979 in german TV, for us guitar-fans he was an occasion - his style was very special - a mix from country, blues and rock... great musician
Nils, an inspired and inspiring musician, with incredible talent and little ego. God bless him...
God why haven’t I seen you. What a talented guy. I just loved watching you perform with Bruce on stage at Gillett Stadium. You move so effortlessly Nils with that guitar in hand!
Look at his facial expressions when he first starts playing...Basking in his sound. Nils performs every song like it's the first time, and the last.
What can you say, fabulous guitar player, heartfelt vocalist. Just a brilliant artist.
Immer noch ein unvergessener Meilenstein der Musikgeschichte!
Hi

Have never heard of this singer. Very passionate song. Great guitar playing. ❤️🍀
He is part of Bruce Springsteen & the E street band. Absolute legend he is and is so underrated. 👍😊🎸
Den bästa låt av Nils Löfgren jag har hört!
The best song I´ve ever heard of Nils Lofgren!
A lost gem.Back in the 80's I had two of his older albums. They both Rocked! Thanks for posting.
not really lost...it's here.
I have seen him literally about 75 times!....been a fan loooong before Springsteen.
With a trampoline on stage in the 70s
Youlike...???...
You must be from Bal'mer
BLUZ PWR Me too.
I have to "grin" when I try to tell youngsters, who love rock,, about Nils. Its sad to know what they've been missing',
I could listen to the first 21 sec forever!
How did I miss this......... Glad I found it
Love this tune, bloody brilliant!
its nice to find a video that has tom in it too!
Related to Nils ?
I'd say that Nils Lofgren is another underappreciated master for sure.
Can you believe this guy has never been in the Rolling Stone 100 greatest guitarists chart? !!
Through the years he rocked on his Stratocaster, his guitar lost his ' virgininty ', it got a soul... Flip it Nils!!
Das war das lieblingslied meines kumpels jensi .bekannt unter den namen moteg. Ruhe in frieden mein freund.
Unvergesslich unforgotten ❤
First saw Nils on the Tonight's the night tour Neil Young, been a fan ever since.
What a brilliant song and good live version

This song is just ...... FA-BU-LOUS and Nils is just IN-CRE-DI-BRUCE-LEE-A-COUS-TI-COUS-TICLY a wonderful guitarist.
I love this man-no mercy!
Very nice. And some impressive dance moves at the end!

Fantastic, I love this song
Used to hear this on the radio sometime around 1978
A great song. Way to go Nils. Great album.
so great. one of few acts left that would be worth the ticket price .

Bruce and Nils do two different works: not comparable.

One of the most under appreciated guitarists in history . It's little wonder Springsteen stole him away from Crazy Horse to play lead , virtuoso and rhythm guitar for him . Nils could also play keyboards pretty well .
he just makes it look so easy, such a fantastic guitar player... and so passionite
@NightwishAndi Partly true, he's father was from Sweden and mother from Italy.
The Most Underrated Fender Bender!
Ich liebe dieses Lied und es wird auch bleiben

Nils was fucking awesome. Where was I. ? WTF
@NightwishAndi I think his father or grandfather came from sweden. But he was born in Chicago.
Amazing Musician . Amazing song !

Best Stratocastersound ever! Tell me the secret ;-) !

brilliant ,first heard this on the preview to the gerry cooney larry holmes title fight in 1982
Beautiful. Love this song.

who i cannot stand at all
Nils Lofgren is great, but Bruce is the man!
Something kick-ass about hitting your drum kit and have water fly off.
i've only been intoduced to nils recently and song's my fav
Not an early classic but still a CLASSIC Nils track. Put Him Away Don't Let Him Recover. His Eye's Are Flooded He Can't Even See. No Mercy No Quarter.
Which guitar is very similar with Nils' Fender 61' Vintage Stratocaster?? What a sound!
Good stuff!
Swedish-Italian, great combination...
