- Most trap bars have two pairs of handles - one side would a high handle position, the other being a low handle. Flip the bar over to change the handle position. The exercise remains the same, but the set up and distance traveled. The low position will feel a little more like a squat and hit the legs a little harder. Most people can pull more weight in a high handle position.
