These are actually amazing ideas, but just remember this. If you plan out what you want in your house, you can design a non box shaped house. Then you can follow exactly what this video says and youre in a great house
This is better than any house I made in my Minecraft career
I needed this, I've been building wooden sheds for years.

Here's a tip, do NOT place huge windows on your house like he did here. If you want a lot of windows break it up into many smaller windows instead because no non-modern house irl looks good with one window covering a entire wall.
true, u could spread the windows out but dont add too many
like u could do 1x2 windows, 2x2 windows, and 3x3 windows
yeah rookie mistake
@@elliecassar1881 Yes, i like sticking to the traditional 1x2 for small medieval builds
I'm more practical. I prefer wide windows to see the outside, without actually going outside. That way, I can analyze whether I should go hunting or stay inside

Tips from someone who has been building a long time:
(Yes they are fairly basic and kinda vague but sue me)
Keep contrast in mind, sure depth is super important, and details are nice, but the priority is contrast, as it's what will draw attention in the first place. Colour contrast and texture contrast are super important, it's why making the roof out of stone looks better than just wood.
Don't go crazy with details. While it's important to have smaller details on your build, keep in mind what's reasonable, both in terms of resources and the visual impact. Your first priority should be adding recognizable patterns when adding details, whether complex or simple.
Use multiple differing types of wood. In an example like the one built here, using something like Dark Oak or Spruce logs would look better as it's frame, for a few reasons, most importantly being the colouration.

Tip for you guys who don't build:
-take inspiration on internet
-stick to a specific style or similar stypes combined.
-build in odd numbers never even numbers.
-make a pallete of blocks.
-make sure not to build to big boxes like 10x20 unless you are building a castle, use maximum of 15 for length and between 7-11 or 9-11.
-un popular opinion but don't plan to much because you are gonna loose interest to build but do plan a bit either by drawing or building.
Idk if it will help but those are the things you should do.
*I mean even if you're gonna do a castle dont just do a box add extra sections eg. Towers and little boxes for horses, crafting etc*
When building with stone bricks and/or cobblestone, if at all possible used the mossy variants for texture and that weathered look, and the cracked variant for stone bricks for further weathering

Some other tips for y’all if you want them
-normally, housing rooftops go all the way up to the peak, so instead of stopping short like camman did, go a little higher to make a point! You can also edit the point to be more circular.
-if you are sticking with a roof like the one in the video, extend the edges out more, more specifically the corners. It gives more depth to two sides which I think makes it look nice.
-I can’t get over this one, but, MAKE A PALETTE! OR GENERATE ONE! Block palettes are so helpful, and they help you visualize the build before you even start. Make sure to include leaf types as well as flower types, and carpet colors into your block palette. It makes life so much easier.
-I’ve only really seen builders that build on a larger scale do this, but it works with smaller builds too. Use wool as a ground base to map out your build. This is just doing the corners of a room, or the general layout of the roof. I like to make a wool color guide to help me decide which strand of wool equals. For example, I use red when adding a room that should stick out or be more obvious, and lime to tell me the side the front door is on. I find this very helpful!
Where do I generate a block pallete?

Thank you, much appreciated 👍
Step 1 don't make a house boxy
I like the way you've added DEPTH it's really cool 😎
This was actually really helpful. I suck at building so I needed this
If you want to make dirt paths use a combo of
Rooted dirt, coarse dirt, and packed mud in random small patches in the shape of the path. You can also use spruce slabs and stairs into a smooth way up the path instead of jumping. You can maybe add fences with leaves around it to make bushes. If you want a tall small bush put an azelea bush with moss or azalea leaves 2 or 3 tall. Hope i helped. Dont have a stroke while reading this lol
you can also stack 2 campfires for more smoke
Me too bro
Same man , my house looks like a rectangle 😢
I’m honestly so impressed with how consistent Camman is with his videos, keep it up king.
Yeah
This hurt me as a builder in Minecraft
Another pro tip, make one block thin chimneys and a campfire on top with trapdoors surrounding the campfire.
If you take a block (like gravel) and find similar blocks in type and color (Andesite, Cobble, and stone buttons & pressure plates) you can alternate them randomly to make a really nice path. Use the pressure plates on grass to make it look overgrown.
Yeah I do this all the time, also making grass path blocks but randomly scattered with the block combinations is really nice
Also if you EVER have gobble in your paths throw in mossy gobble it just adds the nice touch like basil leaf on pasta does nothing but it looks fancy
@@xxhaiydvexx5951gobble?💀
Yeah, it’s good to have a pallet of colors to use to make the build look more aesthetically pleasing
I'd also suggest to raise the whole thing up and lay a "foundation". That way you can make the house. Sometimes instead of windows use trapdoors. They look unique and it allows you to open and close your windows
Man he likes *DEPTH*

A big tip I give to new builders all the time don't force the build to be in an awkward spot try to form your build to the land around it and it'll fit in so much better if you carve out half a hill and build it on the flat part the whole thing will be an eye sore but if you build with the hill and only sue the space that's truly needed your builds will feel more natural also don't go online looking up insane builds instead look up tips on how to add things to existing builds to give them personality and depth
You're right. Location is arguably the most important part of a build in Minecraft. If you don't have a good, fitting location it'll look very out of place and off-putting, no matter how good the build is.
Realizing that we’re slowly watching Camman get better at building :D
“✨EHhh✨ house” 💀
Decent-ish house well done
These are good tips for beginners at building but one of the major things it’s not making your house just a box add another box next to it or make it an L shape this will make it look better. if your house is taller so if it has two floors I would recommend putting a foundation. My favourite way of making chimneys is placing one or two blocks some sort of stone then put in a campfire and surrounded by trap doors usually spruce or some other type that doesn’t have holes in it. Another good tip is texturing this can add more depth and make it look more realistic so if you have stone mixing some stone bricks and cobblestone to make it more interesting This also works with pass if you’re using a path block Mix in some custard and podzol if you’re making it out of gravel mix in some stone bricks and cobblestone. if your corners are made out of oak wood you could add some strips spruce in some sections as well. Also for a more mediaeval style I recommend making it not just complete stairs I put the first stair which is an overhang on the rest of the world then a block the nicer than a block until I get it as high as I want it to it can make mediaeval houses look more interesting and realistic as well. I hope some of these tips that were not mentioned in the videos will help😊

What's custard?
Custard?
If that is decentish, than my builds must have been designed by Leonardo da Vinci
Those are actually good tips
The most important step never use birch :)
Girl Use Birch More Than Men
You could make it a more complex shape, like an L and then make a second floor and build that floor out a bit, then make an l shaped roof that doesnt close in at the ends but stays open and then add a little circle window, then make small 1x2 windows and detail them by adding fence gates infront of them, make the roof taller by switching between blocks and stairs, replace wood with something like terracotta, and then add some detailing with stairs slabs, and trapdoors (i recommend spruce for almost all the blocks except the log framing), you can also add some windows to the roof by making a little mini arch coming out (not sure how to describe this) and you come out with a nice, functional cottage
That “ehhhhh- house” is better than any other house I’ve made
Moral of the video:
Ur minecraft house must be fully detailed and DEPTH

My house is 3 blocks of slime . . . don't ask
Im so bad that i just steal one from a villager, and by law of Minecraft a furnace next to a crafting table next to a bed is a home of who ever placed the furnace and crafting table, everything else be damned
More tips, adding solid blocks in the roof helps with giving the roof kore stagnation, using more types of wood for a higher quality final produce, also a variety of stones gravel and buttons for pathing helps it look more natural, etc etc
You can also change up the shape so it’s not just a square or rectangle. You can add more rooms sticking off the sides, make a second story that only takes up a quarter or half of the size of the first story, or even build a tower on one of the sides or corners! :D
