Great Reaction, thank you. Chicago was an extension of BS and Tears! This is one of my favorite lps of all time! Every single song on it is great. What a combination of jazz, blues, rock, country--they had it all! Another fabulous song on this album is their rendition of Billie Holiday's GOD BLESS THE CHILD. Please please do that one! Thank you!
Blood, Sweat & Tears is a jazz-rock music group founded in 1967. They are noted for their combination of brass & rock band instrumentation. Especially love their stuff when David Clayton-Thomas joined as their lead singer. They have had a lot of great songs such as "Spinning Wheel" "And When I Die", "Hi-De-Ho" "Lucretia MacEvil", "Go Down Gamblin'", "Lisa Listen To Me", "God Bless The Child" etc.
This is a cover of a Motown song co-written by Brenda Holloway with the usual stable of writers on the label and recorded by Holloway in 1967. It reached the Top 40 Pop and R&B charts. In 1969, BS&T had a huge hit with their cover version and Holloway ended up suing Berry Gordy & Motown for royalties.
This was a big hit in 69, reached #1 at a station in my area. David Clayton Thomas is a great singer, beautiful strong voice. Other very good songs include Spinning Wheel, And when I Die. Hi de Ho, Lucretia McEvil.
You should do this entire album - it is magnificent music - some of the songs are real deep. Check out "Sometimes in Winter". and the two movements on the album add to the mystique.
David Clayton Thomas is the lead singer of this fantastic band ❤ '' Spinning Wheel '' was another great hit of theirs ❤
3 people singing make the song better great live performance

Yeah, you really can't go wrong with Blood, Sweat, & Tears.
Gotta do their song, "Go Down Gamblin'" if only because it's the rare sound of a tuba solo.
Check out them covering God Bless the Child.....badass!
