Very helpful demonstration, thank you! I just finished mounting the Best Rest shock mount bracket on my 2013 F800GS. It fit perfectly and the finish is excellent.
Thanks for video! I installed shock support bracket tonight and went much easier watching your video. My holes did not line up correctly either, so for those of you watching, make sure you have tools available to make this adjustment. It's not hard with the right tools.
Just like the Touratech ESA upgrade shock video, I didn't find it necessary to remove the foam sleeve on the top bolt long round nut mounted to frame or need to hold it with wrench, saves a little time, great video !
Installed one today and all went smoothly. Positioning the bracket took a few big taps with a hammer, and a lot of small taps to get it in place; but everything lined up great. Thanks for the video!
Great video. Wish I had it when I was installing mine. However, one option/tip I would like to share with your viewers, instead of elongating the hole and potentially introducing slop, I chose to chamfer the hole to help guide the bolt in. This makes for a tighter fit and would only work if the holes almost line up. If the holes are more than a few mm apart, then rat file (or a combination of both). Thanks you for the great video. And thank you David for the great product!
Cool video. Helped me with my install. I would suggest that once you have the old bolts out, work the brace in by getting the rear brace bolt mounted up first and then work with the front bolt. It went a little easier once I went at it with that approach.
my install went smoothly except alignment on that lower hole, had to remove 2-3mm which I scribed through the hole and ran a die grinder burr. Total install was about an hour, if I were to do it again it'd take 30 mins tops. I think Best Rest needs to take a look at their CAD file and move that hole a wee bit if EVERY install requires filing. Thanks for the video
Adam - Not every install requires filing or special fitment. Some drop right in, some need filing on the small hole, some need filing on the big hole. We did make adjustments to the CAD file and that fixed most bolt alignment issues. The brackets are all identical, but every bike has minor variations in placement of the two bolts, and the big cross-over tube. We can only assume its due to variations in frame jigging and welding.
John - we make no promises that the 12.9 bolt won't bend under severe riding conditions. BMW's 800 rear shock mount design is a poor one. All we can do is reinforce that flawed system using a higher grade bolt and the aluminum bracket the spreads the load to a second cross frame member. We can make things better but we can't perform magic. I can assure you that our bracket/bolt is the strongest upgrade on the market, nothing else even comes close.
That electrical connection that you say to "move forward" will not budge on my bike. I tried moving it up, down, wiggle left and right, towards the front of the bike, towards the back... it will not budge. If I use any more force it will snap. Am I missing something?
outty77 usually there's some give in the harness that allows the bracket to move into place. Yours may be tighter than others. If you call the shop we can talk.
There was a small plastic lever on the underside that had to be moved to the side - fitting slid right off afterwards. Thanks for the reply, none the less. My shock bolt appears to be slightly bent.. damnit.
Thanks for the video, I just orders the part. This video is going to help. A off topic question, what bags are you running on your crashbars? Look like a good fit for the sw motech. Cheers David
I wouldn't let it put you off, it's only a small problem, and probably doesn't occur at all if you don't ride the bike like an enduro bike. I haven't even bothered to look at my 2009 GS that was owned by a small girl before me.

installed one and the class 12.9 bolt still bent

Needs a stiffer spring too, I used Hyperpro.
Thanks for the video. Have to install one also to my F8GS
Almost every brand has an Achilles Heel. I'm sure your bike has one too. This happens to be the one on the BMW 800.
After this video i was an easy peasy, thanks
Richard Gere?
Hey, I need a 17-year electrical diagram of the f800ecu terminal. I don't know which parts of the dozens of wires are connected.
You're kidding, of course.
Will this product work with TFX aftermarket rear shocks?
outty77 as far as we know it works with all brands. We have not seen a TFX shock. Send us a photo

outty77 looks like it will work. It's the upper part that fits the bracket. The lower part will clear the bracket.
thanks for the vidéo

My shock bolt appears to be slightly bent.. damnit.
So how can one tell if the bolt is bent if you are going to buy a used F8gs?
@@g0bi you can't unless you take it out
Alright, thank you for a quick response! @@bestrestproducts648
