I'd be afraid to go under the trailer with THAT driver at the wheel. Tractor/trailer brake confused, didn’t seem to know about power divider, dropped pin, dumped suspension. Driver made every mistake he could. Excellent recovery!
It never ceases to amaze me as to how so many people and truckers too, refuse to pull over and slow down when there are emergency vehicles in or on the roadway.
Thanks for sharing trent you and dad did a good job i can't get used to how soft and sandy the soil is out there I'M just not used to the soil being like that it is a lot different here our soil is more compacted and i guess a lot firmer or harder
Back in the dark ages when God was a child (1957- 1962) I lived down there. I just had a 1954 Cheve, but I carried a shovel, boards, burlap, and other things to help me get out of that sand. it only would take your drive wheel to get an inch off the pavement and you were stuck. Well, maybe more than an inch. I only got stuck once, and that was right in town.
Subbed man, ive only been able to find a few select truck drivers and tow truck drivers that i like on RUclips and who actually do a good job and enjoy what they do, nice video man and keep it up :D oh and i really like the driving head cam as well js :D
What the hell was he thinking when he started to drop his trailer? Was he just going to abandon it if he'd gotten his tractor out? Also didn't seem to even know which brake does what. Some people shouldn't be drivers.
Quick highway safety suggestion: you and your father totally did the right thing using the other truck as a blocker and the CHP cruiser as the advanced warning for oncoming motorists. However, it would improve your safety if the blocking truck was a little further behind and the nose kicked out at an angle towards traffic, with the wheels cut. That way if the worst were to happen and a distracted driver plows into the back corner of the blocking truck, they should glance off and go off the other side of the road instead of into your work area. I'm a volunteer fire captain in the NYC suburbs and we have some terrible drivers around here. Stay safe and keep posting the awesome videos!
Drivers pull the pin thinking they get at least the truck out They have no idea that it makes the recovery much harder To recover the trailer with out the truck Or in this case get it re connected to recover it as one Just a dumb move at lot of tractor trailer drivers do Like Plaza said we got a pin puller here Now a simple winch out just cost him more money Correct me if I'm wrong Plaza
I am a new subscriber.. 2/3/2018. Just happen to see you on the menu board. I like West End and Hill, so I figure I'll like you too. I was surprised he was able to drive that rig at all with the wheels locking up, but the accident didn't look bad enough to rip an air line off. One thing I'd never do, is trust any driver to do what I ask, I'd either do it myself or double check he actually did as told, except for steering because you can see that easily.
It is a good idea for tow companies to have their own driver in the vehicle being extricated because it can be difficult to get drivers to follow directions. Tell them to turn left, they turn right. Brakes on they release the brakes. Put it in neutral, they have it in gear. Sometimes you don't have that luxury.
and to think that there are many tens of thousands of similarly competent and qualified "drivers" like Chico here roaming on, or near, the roads all over North America !!
Saved his skin by getting the pin locked in. Maybe a good idea to have this taught to new driers “ never unhook your trailer until recovery tell you to unless it’s on fire “.
great video trent you should go to walmart and pick up a 4 pack of 2 way radios. you would have been able to talk to your dad. and their cheap.if you are on a recovery everyone could talk.
Sir Trent !!! You guys sure have a problem with those drivers who don't understand English & have no idea as to get themselves out of trouble !! Glad you have to deal with them as I would not have the patience !!!!! KEEP IT SAFE !!!
Thus why it helps to learn another language other than ones own to be able to tel the other in their own language what to do that you expect of them, many ways to learn now a days both in school and with use of software online.
Damn another tough one tho it looked like it could of been easier and quicker if the driver hadn't tried to disengage trailer from tractor while stuck in the soft dirt. This is the second video I've seen from you guys where they're stuck in the dirt seems like these need to learn how drive better, anyways you did a fine job and don't you guys have the big orange safety cones why weren't they put?
Ok I know if trailer is on fire you disconnect trailer from truck, but where is that book that says if stuck 1) jump out of truck 2) try to disconnect from trl. What was his plan leave his trl in the dirt and hope it dont fall over,
I kinda got stuck like that in the mud. The outside trailer tire wasnt touching the ground i thought the truck was gonna roll it was a loaded tanker so yeah i was scared shit less
Wondering if there is a rule/law stating you can’t get in customers truck to make sure brakes are set how you want or to steer the truck in direction of your choosing?
They do from time to time, seen other past or newer videos of getting one out of another ditch or side of road where one of the guys gets in to steer and control. There is not law against it as far as I know.
I still do not understand why there was not any supply Air getting to trailer driver error? He did not did air valve was supply to trailer or understand which valve was tractor parking brake!
I wonder why he ended up in the median in the first place? Distracted driving perhaps? I see that type of driving nearly everyday where I live (Indiana) and wonder how people could justify (possibly) doing harm to others from behind the wheel? Thanks for sharing the videos.
Some times I watch your videos and wonder; who the hell is driving these trucks and how did they get a CDL? Like this video, how did that guy get into the desert on the opposite side of the road and then he pulled the pin on the trailer? But the biggest thing is you asked CHP, and he just kind of shrugs it off! Don't get me wrong, this is totally nothing against you guys and probably accounts for a good portion of your work. But it makes you wonder, 'where the hell do these truck drivers come from'?
Asking that is like asking the same question to all "idiot" drivers in general, its easy to get your license and prove you generaly understand driving, but once you get the license after passing the easy testing parts its up to you to keep learning through your own mistakes and what others do that cause you to get into a situation. No one is perfect!
Get the truck free by removing the weight. God knows how they think they will then get the trailer out, Unless its not theres and they intend n abandoning it for someone else to deal with.
Just curious, do they make trailers yet with power assisted landing gears, just so you wouldn't have to wear yourself out Cranking that handle around so may times????
Yes they do. There are several companies making hydraulic landing gear but they are costly. Most companies won't even spring for a good set of landing gear. Everything is as cheap as possible.
It can still get hot in a cab when there is black surfaces and its sunny, even in winter up north east where I live I often have to shut off the heater to keep from basting/overheating.
What is it with the truck drivers ending up in the sand? Looking for a pee stop? Playing angry birds while driving? Playing Angry Birds while looking for a pee stop while driving? Sorry gotta sub your channel. Love watching shows like this.
I HATE a twin screw that doesn't have spring brakes on both drive axles. It should be the law that both drive axles get spring brakes. I've seen so many situations (and been in a few myself) where only 2 spring brakes were a problem. I don't know what builders and buyers are thinking when they build or spec a truck that doesn't have 4 parking brakes. The weight savings is negligible when you have regular drum brakes. So what, it saves maybe 20 lbs in weight between the spring brakes, the valving and the extra hoses needed. 20 lbs is not a weight savings worth under-equipping a truck.
You do know or realize their are springs on air brakes? They are there for safety when air build up or pressure is lost and so the springs activate the brakes, disk or drum. If you do not get it then I suggest you look up commercial vehicle air brakes, same things used in trains but those are beefier.
He's referring to the fact that vehicles can be ordered with the spring brakes on only one axle. It saves a few dollars. I haven't seen spring brakes on trains. Air holds the brakes on. There is a valve that releases the brakes on the cars and fills the air tanks on each car. When air from the locomotive is removed, the air from the tank on the railcar applies the brakes. To move the cars without a locomotive, the air has to be bled off the car tank. There is a manual chain whinch to apply the brake when there is no air. A system like trucks and trailers use requires two air lines where railroads only use one air line.
Better they are farther back than too close, but no so far they can not be seen or drivers see them then think the lane is clear and then you got an other accident to deal with.
Noel S no but you navigate by reading it also when i drove had a customer that didnt own there own yard dog they had alot of docks and very little to no trl parking i had to pull my load out then put my empty in for them. They had a contracted yard dog do a little and driver spoke no english and for some reason once the trl was completely blocking the piece of crap trk or something lost trl air causing brakes to set needless to say he was roasting the yard dogs tires not even budging finally after a few minutes me and another trapped driver were trying to help him but with zero english it took like 20 min to get him moving English requirement to get cdl hell yah do that and get rid of that eld shit
Probably next to know experience in driving semi trailers. Google australia 457 truck drivers and you will see there are a lot of inexperienced drivers in Australia mis-judging bridge and tunnel heights
mobiletransportvideo, there are more overhead accident drivers in the USA than anywhere else, due to the fact so many can rent/lease a non cdl vehicle up to 26,000 pounds and think they can go anywhere the car they drive goes but forget they are in a larger volume and weight vehicle, but Yovo68 is proof of how many do not get that height means actual height from road surface to lowest point of overhead. Except in NYC where they measure from above the road where snow builds up in winter to lowest part of bridge. I have only had one time where I misjudged the bridge ahead due to the signs being obstructed until I saw one but I stopped before I entered the intersection and pulled aside to let others pass, had to call police due to the amount of traffic to assist me backing up safely to get turned around and down alternate truck route. It was in a location in CT near NY.
We had to move a material handler out of Chicago. Couldn't do it at night and the police selected the route. They tried to take it under a 10 ft bridge then to a very tightly turning ramp. Had to reroute twice.
Do yourself a favor Trent, learn Spanish or Latin or both, its fairly easy these days with classes in college and online courses, will help you deal with those customers who speak those languages, it also sort of requires the brain and you can keep on learning other languages in time. Would help you out in your business endeavors.
Noooooo mexekins HERE have to SPEAK ENGLISH and READ AND WRITE ENGLISH if they desire to WORK IN AMERICA. Is Trent in mexeco? No he is NOT. Screw learning spanish.
Ok i have Much to say about this Video Let me first say, Excellent Job on your part and the Law enforcement Officer,Next the driver i will Assume he got his CDL from California based on his truck (CA) NOT ALWAYS BUT JUST LETS SAY.The California "DOT NEEDS TO REVOKE HIS LICENSE" why you ask because his "VERY VERY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE" on the basic operations of that truck.. Releasing Fifth-wheel coupling? "IDIOT" he also didn't know what a Trailer break was OMG... PUSH RED IN PUSH YELLOW IN REALLY..... hes going to kill someone.
What the hell was he thinking when he started to drop his trailer? Was he just going to abandon it if he'd gotten his tractor out? Also didn't seem to even know which brake does what. Some people shouldn't be drivers.
Part of getting ones CDL is proving you know what each brake control pin is for, often easier to just say color unless they happen to be color blind then its left/right if they speak a different language than you.

Love the way you and your dad work no shouting no running about. Good job👍
I appreciate that Thanks for watching!
It's like they each know what the other is thinking.
I really like your Dad. Even though you are his son he still speaks with respect to you.
Yes, I've noticed that as well! Plus they work very well together! :)
Why am I addicted to these videos ?
Thanks for watching!
Is there a Plaza Towing Addict....ah ya nevermind.... can't ask. wouldn't be anonymous then lol
Thanks for sharing trent you and dad did a good job i can't get used to how soft and sandy the soil is out there I'M just not used to the soil being like that it is a lot different here our soil is more compacted and i guess a lot firmer or harder
Yes very soft! Thanks for watching!

i'm not even going to ask what he was trying to accomplish here lol...another great one man.
Thanks for watching!

Do you think you could put more driving time in some of the videos?? Awesome vids by the way!!
Yes in the coming videos! Thanks for watching!
My new favorite channel you guys are great!!!

Pulling the fifth wheel pin in a ditch... 🙄 Some of these import drivers have no business driving a truck larger than a 1 ton. 🚚
John Rosehart the guy didn’t know the difference between his tractor and trailer brake.
It is a good idea for tow companies to have their own driver in the vehicle being extricated because it can be difficult to get drivers to follow directions. Tell them to turn left, they turn right. Crazy ass driver! Once again great job and video.
Thanks for watching!

This is where dual winches comes in handy
so is driving in the center median a common practice in California?? lol
Mike elogs told him to pull over and take his break
great video trent you should go to walmart and pick up a 4 pack of 2 way radios. you would have been able to talk to your dad. and their cheap.if you are on a recovery everyone could talk.
Nice work & coverage, Trent!
Thanks for watching!
Great video as always. Wondering if you guys ever sell those fitted baseball caps?
We are planning to
Sir Trent !!! You guys sure have a problem with those drivers who don't understand English & have no idea as to get themselves out of trouble !! Glad you have to deal with them as I would not have the patience !!!!! KEEP IT SAFE !!!

Wow...what a way to start the day! Did he think the dez median was like the blacktop?
Makes ya wonder why he was willing to dump the trailer
The guy doesn't even speak English ,Don't you think there are illegal stuff on that trailer. He looks hella nervous.
Damn another tough one tho it looked like it could of been easier and quicker if the driver hadn't tried to disengage trailer from tractor while stuck in the soft dirt. Very cool nice and easy I was worried for a min at first ;-)
Thanks for watching!
Ok I know if trailer is on fire you disconnect trailer from truck, but where is that book that says if stuck 1) jump out of truck 2) try to disconnect from trl. What was his plan leave his trl in the dirt and hope it dont fall over,
Why would the driver pull the pin in the 5th wheel?
The question of the evening lol Thanks for watching!
Obvious. You get the tractor out safely, then go back and get the trailer,
Maybe people or drugs in trailer? Makes you say WTF.
I kinda got stuck like that in the mud. The outside trailer tire wasnt touching the ground i thought the truck was gonna roll it was a loaded tanker so yeah i was scared shit less
On a recovery have y'all ever had on of y' alls trucks get stuck at the ametime if so I would love to see it
nope, we don't want to turn into the guy stuck lol Thanks for watching!
i noticed the baby cholla cactus that must be avoided. Just to make things more complicated.
Hey great video bud!! stay safe!!
Thanks for watching!
Lol gotta love when the driver think it’s a good idea to pull the pin never the smartest idea
I always ask? soooo what were you gunna do IF you got out?
Give the driver a tea spoon and say "Call when it's free '.
what was the charge for this winch out with 2 trucks?
Wondering if there is a rule/law stating you can’t get in customers truck to make sure brakes are set how you want or to steer the truck in direction of your choosing?

That was a mudd situation but you got done & did right.
Thanks for watching!
He was gonna leave that trailer behind.
That is not a standard American CB antenna on it is it?
Man I hope you love your job that looks a little bit like to much work thank God I drive flatbed lol
Thanks for watching!
Does the winching brake set the brakes on the front axle?
I think the winching brake has the same force as if you had your foot on the brake pedal. Its has lot more resistance than the parking brake.
Yes it applies the brakes on all wheels
HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
Dose the cradle the remote sits in also recharge it
Yes Sir! Thanks for watching!
I wonder if there could be people in the trailer is why he wanted to disconnect and go home.
I started a play list just for your vids. 😄😄😄
I wonder why he ended up in the median in the first place? Distracted driving perhaps? I see that type of driving nearly everyday where I live (Indiana) and wonder how people could justify (possibly) doing harm to others from behind the wheel?
Thanks for sharing the videos.
Thanks for watching!
First time you fall out getting out of the truck face first, you'll change your ways. Sign of a rookie driver.
one could argue that you are a seasoned driver if you can get out of a truck without falling lol
You guys should get walkie talkies.
Some times I watch your videos and wonder; who the hell is driving these trucks and how did they get a CDL? Like this video, how did that guy get into the desert on the opposite side of the road and then he pulled the pin on the trailer? But it makes you wonder, 'where the hell do these truck drivers come from'?
should have waited to farther into video, never noticed it was median before i commented, but still!
Total lack of common sense?
was thinking the same thing who gave this guy a cdl
Asking that is like asking the same question to all "idiot" drivers in general, its easy to get your license and prove you generaly understand driving, but once you get the license after passing the easy testing parts its up to you to keep learning through your own mistakes and what others do that cause you to get into a situation. Yes they do. There are several companies making hydraulic landing gear but they are costly. Most companies won't even spring for a good set of landing gear. Everything is as cheap as possible.
What the things happened made the driver driving over the ditch ?
fell asleep lol Thanks for watching!
What the heck .....
he missed the energy drinks ....
Dad needs a mic lol
Yea but I have a feeling my kids couldn't watch anymore! 😉 Well un-muted anyway...
Running the AC at 53 Degrees?
yep lol sunny CA Thanks for watching!
It can still get hot in a cab when there is black surfaces and its sunny, even in winter up north east where I live I often have to shut off the heater to keep from basting/overheating.
So why did he have no air to the trailer brakes and suspension?
dont know lol Thanks for watching!
No profit in that load thanks to several drivers errors.
What is it with the truck drivers ending up in the sand? Looking for a pee stop? Playing angry birds while driving? Playing Angry Birds while looking for a pee stop while driving? Sorry gotta sub your channel. Love watching shows like this.
to all truck drivers...if you are stuck or off the road, DO NOT TRY AND DISCONNECT AT ALL

Sir Trent !!! Where did the CHP disappear to as they could have shut the lanes down to protect you guys ?????? KEEP IT SAFE !!
They did shut down the lanes lol they are back there. Thanks for watching!
Better they are farther back than too close, but no so far they can not be seen or drivers see them then think the lane is clear and then you got an other accident to deal with.
English should be a requirement for a CDL...
Noel S no but you navigate by reading it also when i drove had a customer that didnt own there own yard dog they had alot of docks and very little to no trl parking i had to pull my load out then put my empty in for them. English requirement to get cdl hell yah do that and get rid of that eld shit
It is a requirement.
It is.
Thanks Trent, im superized that the driver did'nt know how much the trailer weighed.and it would of sead it on the trucks manufest how much
Must have been a little on the lazy side not to scale it out. (sigh)
Probably next to know experience in driving semi trailers. Google australia 457 truck drivers and you will see there are a lot of inexperienced drivers in Australia mis-judging bridge and tunnel heights

Question trent what would happen if u left the wench on high as ur pulling a truck???
not as much torque Thanks for watching!
LOL job security be safe
true lol Thanks for watching!
Sometimes you just have to ask "how the hell did they get it in there
right?Thanks for watching!
Is that your dad also?
Alex Castillo yes
Get the beans?
Give it the beans lol aka get it moving. Thanks for watching!
Can’t drive a truck if you speak English in California. Can’t believe you’re allowed to charge him.
take the driver out of the truck on things like this i think they are more of an hindrance than help
Do yourself a favor Trent, learn Spanish or Latin or both, its fairly easy these days with classes in college and online courses, will help you deal with those customers who speak those languages, it also sort of requires the brain and you can keep on learning other languages in time. What is a trailer break? Do trailers drink coffee and smoke cigarettes?
What the hell was he thinking when he started to drop his trailer? Was he just going to abandon it if he'd gotten his tractor out? Also didn't seem to even know which brake does what. Some people shouldn't be drivers.
Part of getting ones CDL is proving you know what each brake control pin is for, often easier to just say color unless they happen to be color blind then its left/right if they speak a different language than you.
