Love your videos Kevin! Have become a girl obsessed. I found your channel while trying to research an extremely sentimental vintage Stetson cowboy hat. It was a gift from my 92 year old friend before he passed. I'd love to know more about it. Any ideas where I might research it? It's a sturdy felt, dark brown, inside says "Wild West by Stetson". It has a thin simple band. I wear it often around the farm, and it helps me feel close to him! I've loved watching your videos and feel so much more prepared to take care of it. Thank you for taking time to post these videos! Love them!
Kevin I am so glad I found your videos. I live in CT and love Delmonicos. I have an akubra banjo Peterson that needs reblocking. They can’t do it. Can you. If you can what’s the details. Thanks and keep the videos coming.
Hello from England Kevin - I have a cool old light grey Stetson cowboy hat which has unfortunately been nibbled here & there by moths! Only small nibbles fortunately but do you have any suggestions for concealing the tiny spots? They’re not actual holes, just indentations where the little buggers have chomped 🤬 ✌️🎸✨🇬🇧
Nice hat! What year approximately? I just bought a vintage Stetson Sovereign Twenty open road that needs re-shaping. Hopefully I can find someone as skilled as you!
no Kevin, it's ok to say rub it out, cause, sometimes you do gotta rub one (or more) out, don't try to call it something else. and when done right, everything just looks better!!!!!
It’s stiffer western felt like the 6X, except the quality is much better. A 4x hat from yesteryear is much, much more reliable than a 6X of today. These days they’re made thinner and they’re prone to curling. Older felt doesn’t do that, it’s reliable and stable, I can’t give it a number, but it’s much, much nicer than a modern 6x. The Royal Deluxe is made from dress felt, like what they use on fedoras, that’s just much different. Figure anything vintage is usually much better felt than a modern hat.
This is an older vintage one, it’s actually a 4X,way before they had the 6x and Royal deluxe, it’s about 40-50 years old. Much better felt than the 6x..but it’s the same model, basically
Great video. I have 8 Open Roads felts and 4 Open Road straws and love 'em all. Your advice is always helpful and your videos are just terrific.

There is nothing, really. If it’s on the top of the front pinches, you can lower the crown and hide them.. but no.

Kevin, not sure if I missed this, but do you have the equipment to cut brims and make flanges on flat brims?
No, I’m not really a hatmaker , I have a talented guy send my stuff out to for sweatbands, ribbons..

Is that felt closer to the modern 6X, or the Royal Deluxe?
