Ahh thank you for your comment and watching my video. Yes it can cost so much, I’d look at buying the books from a company who tells you up front the full cost of postage. 😊
Thank you so much for doing this, was looking to use these people to buy a few (cough!) things from Japan! Looks like am best to wait until I visit next May, if it goes ahead of course........
Thank you, ha, I know that cough feeling! 😄 if you are lucky enough to visit then definitely wait, otherwise you’d definitely have to be ok with paying crazy amounts extra…. 😅
@@disneytouniversal I was lucky enough to visit May 2019 (Virgin air miles got us First / Business class seats there via ANA!) and doing same again next May. I watch too many YT things that show me stuff I want now now now!!! :)
Ha, me too, so many amazing products out there. I hope to visit Tokyo within the next couple of years! Ah man, I loved to travel first class one day too! Lucky you….
the dreaded customs - it’s the only reason why i dislike ordering things from japan. but unfortunately it’s the only place where i can get most of the things i want. with regards to shipping costs, do you know how much the package weighed? i would have felt really deceived to pay £20+ for shipping. i wish the buyee process was a bit clearer and smoother. i’ve just ordered an item today so i hope there’s no issues. nevertheless, really informative review, thank you!
Hi, My box weighed 897g. Yeah the Buyee process could be so much better, they’d definitely get more business, but at the minute I think people will try it once and then probably not ever again, unless they have plenty of money so don’t mind the extra cost! Hope your process runs smoothly and doesn’t cost you too much. Thanks for watching and the comment, I really appreciate it. ☺️
Customs won't be an issue in UK if you spend under £125 i believe. Similarly, shipping across the Pacific and North Atlantic will always be costly. It costs q few quid to deliver intranationally, then you have to consider they'll be doing thag within Japan and the UK. Then it costs from around 10 to 20 quid to send it over by plane or shipping combo. Cheaper tends to be longer, and avoid EMS because they've got a bad track record for terrible estimates. Just keep in mind importing anything will see a hefty delivery fee, even for light items.
@@OnlyGrafting thanks for the detailed reply! yeah, i calculated the shipping… it’s ridiculous as it’s roughly £20 or so (if my memory serves well)... for a package under 1kg. i’ll choose DHL for shipping instead of EMS then, thanks for the tip! i probably shouldn’t cheap out on international shipping heh ʕ;• ᴥ•ʔ
buyee is mostly used in Japan and other Asian continents. Although they ship internationally i wouldn't recommend anyone from the UK or EU to use it unless you're willing to pay the additional cost to the middlemen. I had a few items purchased from ebay japan and buyee where items did arrive to the UK but was forced to pay royal mail for the custom tax charge. luckily since i moved to Thailand 2 months ago finding rare japanese products like art figures and anime books is a lot easier to find than going online lol
You are definitely right and it should be more obvious. I found out the hard way. Hopefully people watching this and reading your comment will help them. Thank you for a very informative comment 😊
@@disneytouniversal In my opinion unlike eBay, Japanese auction and shopping sites which are similar to Buyee are very complicated to use & to understand. Like you’d think the price of an item that is listed on the site is the actual set price with the delivery included until after paying the actual asking price you’re then having to wait till the person that’s listed the item has to find it for you & buy it from someone they know or at retail store. Which by then additional cost adds up & then they get sent to a warehouse for inspection & they can store the items for you if you wish to purchase other items & be sent out in a box with all your orders which adds more cost before it gets sent out to you lol it’s a very confusing system set up they have
It didn’t take long to post out i think it was within 2 weeks, it was the waiting for a month from buying the items that was ridiculous as not mentioned anywhere it could take that amount of time. They also didn’t make it obvious that you’d need to pay tax and customs on top of the postage prices you pay to Buyee. Which can be a lot of extra money especially if the items you bought cost a-lot. Hope that helps.
@@disneytouniversal thank you!! I legit bought 1 item worth 3000yen item and was going to get more, but I realised the more it adds up the postage will add up and customs for each item. I’m just now waiting for it to ship to the warehouse.
i saw some books on buyee that i wanted to buy but now thinking about it, it’s probably going to cost a lotttt of money. good video by the way!

I got charged customs and I’d spent under what you thought, unfortunately I think you get charged on any amount.
@@disneytouniversal was this recently? Were any of the items alcohol/food/drink?
My favourite Japan I love it

How long does shipping normally take to arrive to the uk? And did you have to pay customs?
