I took the video in October 2003. The conductor told me the name of it. Come to think of it I think he said it was the Broadway Limited - Pittsburgh to Philly. Sorry bout that. I also enjoy that last comment every time I played it so I had to post it. This was the 4pm run and I seem to recall that Amtrak was running about an hour and a half late. I'm doing this from memory and it was 6 years ago. I know the date is accurate, I found a date stamped picture from that day.
Old vs New. There is footage of a Strasbourg stream engine and Diesel engine blow their whistles side by side in the Sandbox Playtime Video called Big Trucks, Tractors, and Trains.
The Three Rivers had freight on the rear. This couldnt of been it... But i do remember growing up at my many trips to Strasburg thru my choldhood if Amtrak flying by. Was there in May of this year. My fiancee and I got lucky n seen Amtrak, electric engine going west to Harrisburg. His 1st time seeing Strasburg n those trains flying past.
LOL at the final comment before the video ended. Just curious, what year was this taken? It looks like this may have been what once was the Broadway Limited as the Three Rivers train before it became a Pittsburgh to Philly train.
MAN, that was AWESOME, i wish that could happen whilei was there , I gotta go back to strasburg, lol. Haven't been there for ages. Good vid druliefw 5/5 stars.
@druliefw: Not a problem. Truth be told, I only knew that because I looked it up yesterday. Ironically enough, I was looking it up for a piece that I have to write for my essay-writing class, which I chose to do on the Strasburg Railroad. Even more ironically: I came across your video while doing said research.
@druliefw: It was the Three Rivers. The Broadway was discontinued in 1995, but the Three Rivers ran the exact same route (Chicago to NYC via Philly, so it was basically just the Broadway with a new name) until it too was discontinued in 2005
You think that is long, check out my Silver Star video pulling into the 30th street station in Philly from 2011. Where it stopped it still had several more cars in tow.
They still do this, the whistle exchanges and everything. Awesome.
"Now, folks, once upon a time, we used to race Amtrak but they got ever so angry whenever they would lose."
Amazing.
Last time I was on the Strasburg and an Amtrak came through the Conductor said;
"We flew by him like he was standing still, huh"?
@@mikejordan8259 wow
@@mikejordan8259boxcars and roadrailers remembered
@@npk765fanroadrailer gone boxcar gone 😢😢😢😢
“Sounds like we got a little company here with Amtrak”, best line ever
I agree
Too right!
Definitely an old video cus Amtrak doesn't pull those big boxcars or the roadrailers anymore. Great timing though.
it says 2003 in the beginning
Not only that, but nothing on the keystone corridor uses sleepers either. Not since the Broadway limited there

It was the three rivers to New York
Druilefw it’s a very old video beaucuse those big boxcars or roadrailers anymore
Do not run on Amtrak trains
@@jenniferanderson4654 Yup! almost 20 years old now. I don't get to do much traveling around anymore.
@@druliefw yeah… those three rivers do not really run those rails with freghit anymore…
Great video! The conductor's comments at the end really cap it off. Thanks for sharing!
0:40 “how to make new friends from another railroad”
I love watching this video again and again, Used to see 40/41 and also rode 40 2 months later on my first trip out west.
On the amtrak train, there are 2 engines, 1 baggage car, 5 passenger cars, 5 boxcars, and 18 roadrailer trailers.
What a catch!!!
Amtrak when they still pulled trailers on the NEC

Say what you want, but this has to be the best meets ever
I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. My original intent was just to tape the go around process if the engine.
I meant all the meets like this but this is still really cool
I love this video! I remember coming here at the age of 11.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome catch that never disappoints!
0:05 you can see the headlights from Amtrak all the way from the back. Love it when the new respects the old.
Rounding the curve in time. I used to see the three rivers go by back then, Sure miss it
why can i never find anything interesting but every video of yours has something completely awesome or unique in it?

Gives me nostalgia
Yea nice catch with a good horn and whistle battle
My first time going there since 2003 but not sure what month though. I was only 7 years old then

Always something when it comes to Amtrak
Good Catch
WOW I rode on #90 too
I've never seen Amtrak pulling Freight, and I lived next to the Northeast Cooridor for 23 Years.

October 26, 2003. It's a little hard to see at the beginning of the video. Sorry.
No problem ! Just found the Amtrak light at the beginning

Unusual Amtrak mixed train
That Amtrak train is pulling truck trailers
Lol that amtrak seems so slow now compared to the one i saw today passing it
LOL, Amtrak would probably win now (thinking about that final comment in the video.).
Janet Vonnik Amtrak on the Keystone corridor between Harrisburg and Philly usually only go 90mph.
Jeez that’s the world’s longest Amtrak train ever!
You think that is long, check out my Silver Star video pulling into the 30th street station in Philly from 2011. Where it stopped it still had several more cars in tow.
Ok
Lol send a few nyct trains out their!
it had frieght cars on the back?
At 0:51 what the heck did Amtrak get phase v boxcars for?
wich is better steam or electric? you diside.
@jediraptor07 Thank you. That's interesting. I just know what I was told.
leman place. paradise pennsylvania is the location
@druilefw it was the three rivers from chiago to New York it’s stop before is pilly
Those do not run that much anymore with frieght cars anymore it will have to return soon
When was this taken?
In 2003
Amtrak pulling a mixed train? That's seems pretty rare.
Thats what they did back in the day
@jediraptor07 Cool. Good luck with your essay.
AMTRAK pulling freight cars? wow
I never knew amtrak pulled freight?
This was taken in 2003 and Amtrak stopped doing that in about 2005
А разве в Лиман плэйс проходили грузовые поезда?? Первый раз такое вижу... 😮
The Steam Locomotive Was Superior in This
Train ride wow
I might’ve saw the three rivers pass me or the Pennsylvanian
0:59 those road raiders… farewell
too bad no more mail cars or road railers.
The Steam Loco is better of the Two, would look good on The mainline
Amtrak sometimes lost to the Strasburg Railroad? *scoffs* Yeah, right!

Amtrak loses to strasburg in a race😂😂😂 how sarcastic can you get
