pretty sure i witness this guy once while looking at a plane. he was some expert pilot and this bird was stripped to max with a 100 hp 2 stroke and he did amazing things with it . it was like wow.
Excellent clip! Great that you credited the music artists! It does help the narrative. A video for those pilots that are workin the streets! And gettin' their hustle on to pay for flight school and rental fees! Or young CFI's hustle'n hard to get their hours and keep their students scratchin for more! haha! Ultralights rule! But sitting behind that prop is a bit concerning!:-) But amazing piloting. Go VA Go!
I would have never imagined a ultralight could climb like that even with a head wind. Anybody have any other examples of ultralights that have similar performance they could point me to. I've seen STOVL super cubs.
What is the wind speed limit of that aircraft and what is the wind on that day ? It appears due to that angle of attack he was unable to fly against the wind and had to abort
What’s the saying? There are old pilots and bold pilots. But no old, bold pilots. No amount of nose down stick would allow him to recover from that attitude at that altitude. Period.
@@c7042 I actually think he talking about the take off attitude. there's a point once he leaves the ground up to a certain altitude where just a sputter of the motor would likely mean serious injury or death due to lack of altitude to recover from the stall. it wont matter how good of pilot you are you're playing with fire on that kind of take off. I stand with the "old bold" saying in this case.
Yeah music sucked. Pilots and enthusiasts appreciate to hear the engines. Not that stuff. But that’s just my preference. Although the video part was awesome.
Thats a Skidoo 670 . I hope one of my babies !! Engine quits full forward elevator & the nose will drop enough . 14 years or cropdusting & thousands of stalls "NO PROBLEM "

Grazie per i commenti, Mohammed. L'aereo pesa circa 175 kg.
You are looking for a Phantom airframe?. or a Rotax 670? if you will go to the "About" tab and click on "Send Message" you can confidentially provide me with your contact information I will be glad to help if I can.
One hiccup at that altitude and that pilot will die...Our local FAA inspector at Arlington, WA does say it's a self-regulating sport in the ultra lights. Almost all the pilots that constantly engage in Max performance maneuvers end up dying as a result.
This can only be dangerous for one person-the pilot. But speeding, texting and driving, or drinking and driving are dangerous for all the people around you! You are more likely to have a heartattack from (caused by all the unhealthy fat food) than from dying in a plane
God bless all of you guys who like this, but it is flat-out unsafe to climb at this steep attitude, so close to stall speed, this close to the ground. If the engine quits, you'll be very lucky if you escape spitting out half a dozen teeth and with a broken back! Worse case, your wife would be burying you.
Dat's what we call in duh bidness, hangin' on duh prop With enough engine/prop / thrust, you don't even need the airplane part any more to stay airborne. Dat's what we call in duh bidness, a helicopter. :-D Or, an RC airplane :-P
It's obvious that you learn flying by book. In fact, standing still in the stall position means both the plane and the pilot are in the best condition as secure as a bird.
man the power to weight ratio on that things insane
Master of the Machine good job as a pilot
Excellent film footage and sound.
Wonderful! Love how you had it hanging on the prop.
Wow.. awesome short take off and could hoper in the air
Dangerous, but handled it like a boss 😎
Awesome. Thanks for sharing...
The fact that you used that music gets you all the thumbs
pretty sure i witness this guy once while looking at a plane. he was some expert pilot and this bird was stripped to max with a 100 hp 2 stroke and he did amazing things with it . it was like wow.
strong engine is the key
I showed him how to do that.
Great pilot
I love this video, the down wind hammerhead into high alpha makes my nipples tender. This is how a phantom is supposed to be flown.

The Vne is 85 kn. The airframe is rated for +9 -6. There was roughly a 15 kn head wind that day
What engine is that?
What a take off

Chute off the back will save him.
I was gonna say the same thing..but he's only in danger for a few seconds and he's already 200' up lol
Ok I'm in. Just what I wanted. What do I need to do to get this performance out of the normal phantom.
A Rotax 670! LOL
Thats crazy
I've never seen a radiator on an UL.... what engine ? Great flying...
Water-cooled Rotax 670, the airframe is Phantom X1
I'm thinking that there's a fairly strong headwind to get such a blast off.
Yeah, he really scoots when he turns downwind, plus looks like lenticular clouds which might mean a windy day.
@@christheother9088 i love the pilot’s ability to tell so much from just looking at the sky lmao its so good
I am thinking badass plane badass pilot.
with an engine weight around/over 100 lbs, I wonder if that plane would make the 103 254lbs weight limit?
it looks like he stripped eveything he could, he doesn't even have gauges.
It may be in comments...but what engine you guys running on the phantom?
Rotax 670 (2-stroke) running aviation gas (premix)
Amazing, would like to know what engine is being used..
+Ed Paine It is a Rotax 670 with pressure carbs and running on Av gas
can you give a link to where to get the pressure carbs?
engine from naples fl ?
Rotax Rick?... no this engine was built here in NC
@Josh - I will check that and update. New video next week, i will try to get the engine builder on camera
Someone should have informed the camera person that the plane will be going up just after takeoff.....
Is that the stock Rotax 447 on that thing?
I think someone said it was a rotax 670 ?
@@JessHull
Ah OK. Well, that's a snowmobile engine. Rated at what? 100+ hp?! So the performance isn't surprising.
It is a Rotax 670 , 75" Powerfin prop, C box with clutch, running AV gas
Crazy fool !
What motor ? Can I get this a phantom ?
Probably a Rotax 582 my guess
How much power the engine. Looks like overpowered
Can there be to much power? Not for me there isn't

Thank you...... if the haters cannot understand what they are seeing I cannot convince them otherwise.
You gotta do something about the engine noise. It sounded like some weird shitty music. Maybe a new exhaust pipe or something.
fabric wings held together with wires does not inspire a whole lot of confidence to do the high stress fooling around with the little bird?
Weight to strength, it cant be beaten unless you include paragliders!
I think the phantom is rated to 6gs

This kind of flying kills pilots. Its only a matter of time...
