7:43 Plus there's also how, from Gen 2 to 3, stat EXP was replaced with EVs, meaning it's impossible for Swampy to run max bulk - it has to skimp somewhere, unlike GSC Snorlax or Suicune.
If it skimps on Speed, it can't prevent Claydol from Rapid Spinning away Spikes. If it skimps on offenses, it doesn't get guaranteed KOs on threats. If it skimps on defences, it can't last as long against said threats, especially if they carry Surprise HP Grass.

Salamace was from my sapphire copy as a kid, where i grinded it out to lvl 100 by going through the elite 4 like 50 times. The metagross and dragonite i got in my recently purchased emerald and fire red. I EV trained those two and the metagross has a 399 attack. Im thinking about switching out the salamace for a swampert. I just got done bredding up IV. After about 140 eggs i got a mudkip with a relaxed nature and almost perfect IV in every stat. Sp.Atk is perfect, Sp.Def is Best, and the rest are very good. I decided the best way to read their IV was to transfer them all the way to home to look at the IV hexagon. Its very close to being an all blue hexagon. Im incredibly lucky to get stats like this in a legit gen 3 game. Starting EV training soon. It should be a soild rock in my team that should defy the bs rng in this game

Swampert was the perfect Pokémon for it's time. Good grass types were few, T-tar was the most used mon of Gen III, and electric types were dominant to the point where ground types were necessary for a teams defensive backbone.
However gens later, as mons became more powerful, electric types became less threatening, and good grass types became more common, Swampert's major flaws were easy to exploit. Swampert's lack of reliable recovery, and its passivity when not carrying toxic. It's still good and it got an amazing move in SwSh with flip turn, which provided a much needed way to preserve momentum.
The bulky ground type formula was perfected with Lando-T. It was so naturally powerful and had intimidate to make up its physical bulk. Great Tusk is what happens when you combine Lando-T with Tangrowth.

a lot of swampert dex entries say that they build up boulders to protect themselves in storms.
what if Swampert got an ability where his defenses are raised by 1 stage in rain? could be cool to see a rain user thats more defensive

The way this Iron Mugulis and Iron Fellow storyline is going, someone at GameFreak is going to hire Jimothy Cool to be the director of Detective Pikachu 2

Obviously 59% being unsubscribed is quite a lot but when you compare it to the stats other RUclipsrs quote, it shows just how enthralling the Iron Mugulis arc has been

Swampert also highlights the prevalence of Hidden Power for coverage in older gens, and how the “Power guessing game” shapes the competitive meta.
Can I actually switch in Swampert? Or does this Metagross want me to do that? How can I tell? What does his team inform me about that?
