Ive only been on iracing now for about 3 months, still working my way out of d classbut i love the ferrari gt3 series, and the fia f4 car.and love driving the new chevrolet corvette against AI just for jobbies and giggles..also davcam quickly became my favourite iracing content creator😊
My top 5 so far this decade are; the Super Formula Lights F3 car because I love how I need to keep that turbo spooled up to go fast. The Merc GT4 because it can get a bit sideways when on the limit. The Mustang GT3 and Caddy LMH because just because they sound amazing with their big American engines. And finally the Porsche 911 992 GT3 R because it's a very friendly car to learn wet weather racing skills.
Great to see @davecamm back on the channel! An interesting selection of choices! For me, nothing beats watching Dave drive the Porsche Cup! Two further choices from a viewing perspective, at least, would be the older Radical SR8 and the Lotus 79 - both fast and fun!
I've started the Toyota recently after years in the Mazda and it is indeed real fun to race. I've adapted quite fast and the competition is real. Loving it!
My favorite has to be the super late model. Not only is it a blast on short ovals, but it’s also a blast on road courses. More people should try it on road.
The gen 5 doesn't really race outside of a few weeks in Draft Master unfortunately - and while it makes for the best week in Draft Master, I think it would need its own series to qualify
You have to drive the cup car like an old friend. Squeeze the brakes, squeeze the throttle, make the corners as long as possible, trail brake all the things. If you try to snatch it around like a GT3 you will crash a lot.
It takes a little while to get the hang of it, but as Dave says, the sense of accomplishment is amazing. Once you start to get the hang of it, the racing itself is also amazing. Going side by side with another car into a braking zone and then daring to brake that little bit later knowing that if you misjudge it, it will lock up and in worst case send you into the gravel, but then when you don't and succeed with the duel, you just remember how all your hard work, learning to trust the car has paid off. It just puts a massive smile on your face. The skills you learn with this are also extremely useful elsewhere, even with the GT3 cars even though they are quite a lot easier to drive. Hang in there, and don't be too hard on yourself when it goes wrong. And allow yourself to grow into it. Don't be afraid of participating in races even if you are not the fastest.
It says a lot about how much iRacing has improved the new player experience in the last few years that more than half of the cars on the list are free.
My top 5 would be the NASCAR 1987 Cup Series Chevrolet Monte Carlo NASCAR 1987 Cup Series Ford Thunderbird NASCAR 1987 Cup Series Buick LeSabre NASCAR 1987 Cup Series Pontiac Grand Prix and of course, the NASCAR Gen 4
There's just one flaw in Dave's Formula Vee gearbox talk. The NASCAR guys in iRacing have taught me to bind the clutch to a button on my wheel and use a sequential shifter. No lost time from the auto-clutch and using manual shifting without learning heel and toe.
There are a few of my favorite cars in here. I love the FF1600 especially with a great H pattern shifter it is just so much fun. I also like the GR86 a lot but have a bit of a love and hate relationship with the series. At least at my level there is so much pointless aggression in it that has often ruined my race and cost me a lot of iRating and Safety rating.
I consider myself a decent sim racer. License class A in everything but dirt (don't do dirt). And IR usually averages around 2500 (although it's a little low right now). But for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to drive ANY of the Porsche cars. Every time I try with any of them (except the Mission R), I do decent at first. Then after a few minutes, it feels like I'm driving on ice. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong! I'll take any suggestion I can get. As for favorites from a purely driving perspective, I like: Mustang FR500S F3 GR86 Corvette GTE Ferrari GT3 Tour Modifieds And surprisingly, the Cadillac CTS
The porsches are notoriously hard cars to drive. It does get very rewarding once you start getting the pace. First recommendation is to of course just spend a lot of time with the car. You need to find the balance where you are not over-driving the tires. When you say the car starts feeling like its on ice probably means you are overdriving the rears and the surface temp stays to high, then its just a spiral where the temp will never go down to a level where the stability comes back
@@TraxionGG Yeah, for sure. I still like to sign up with it. Probably get fixed anyway sooner or later.... probably later when you know iRacing 😅 Not sure why it's so much worse in this specific car compared to other high downforce cars.
There’s a whole mess of cars/ series on iracing that would benefit hugely if they had a fixed option. I also feel like there’s a lot going on the service now and it requires some condensation. I feel like iracing themselves are missing a trick to continue to sell some outdated content and fill more fields.
and when you see any with Red Bull livery in iRacing behind you, let them go, in few laps they will be crashing with someone else, pass them carefully.
Can agree on other cars, aside from personal preference... But GR86 - i think it is fundamentally broken and drives weiredly. It might split well, but it's not a good car to drive.
Disappointing list - just one paid car. Admittedly LMP2 may be the best modelled car on iracing, but it would be great to hear what else is worth buying, what has participation numbers etc. Iracing is a bit of a switcheroo in this regard, you have to spend a lot of time to figure out what is worth investing, otherwise you buy a car and find out that mot only it's not well modeled but also no one drives it.
Hahahah slow Dave being slow as usual. No, you don't need to use the clutch on the downshifts in the Formula Vee. Trust me. You don't. Clutch on short lift on the way up the gears and big rev match and no clutch on the way down, especially from 4th to 3rd (very very rarely you need 2nd).
Acutally 2 cars the LMP and the 911, the free cars are great and they are racing on free tracks. For people with limited budget you can have great racing 24/7 in any time zone for only subscription.
What is your favourite car on iRacing? Let us know in the comments below!
Audi TCR , Mustang GT3, F4 , SFL , 718 GT4
@@MrAdamh220 great list!
Dave back on Traxion, I feel like i'm home
The GOAT Returns!❤️
Great video Dave! FF1600 all the way for me! Glad it made your list! Hope to see you on track! Keep up the great work.
Thank you for watching, and Dave's so good at this sort of thing, he'll be back here with more soon!

We are delighted to have him back as well! Continuing to get back on our feet and up to speed, so expect to see him more often in future 🤓
Dave Cam "There is a method to my madness". I love you Dave but we all know there is just madness, no method! lol.
😂
I've started the Toyota recently after years in the Mazda and it is indeed real fun to race. I've adapted quite fast and the competition is real. Loving it!
Great to hear! Both are super, I'm just glad they each offer something slightly different :)

SLM is really great for learning!
@@brodystorch4885 I wish cars and slm had a rc on their schedule
I don’t know how you have this list without the NASCAR GEN five car. Or even the GEN four perhaps. Lol.
Great video Dave. Nice to see you again.
The Gen4 nearly made it as an extra due to the 'mistake' 😁
The gen 5 doesn't really race outside of a few weeks in Draft Master unfortunately - and while it makes for the best week in Draft Master, I think it would need its own series to qualify
i wore that week out.. summit point gr86 that was such a great week.. painful but fun
The 911 was very difficult to drive when I first tried it so I haven't touched that series. But you have convinced me to give it another try

When i ran formula vee I ran with autoblip off, i was top 50 in my first season(season1 2024). Had issues with finding neutral on starts 😂
my list may seem weird to some, but here we go (random order):
- Acura ARX-06
- Dallara P217
- Dallara IR18
- Audi R18
- Subaru WRX STI
Lovely video. Thank you.
Our (and Dave's) pleasure, thank you for watching!
full agree on the racing in GR86
My top 5 in no particular order are:
Porsche Cup
LIMPYTOO
Ferrari 296
GR86
SF23
SF23 is mega!
Dave is just so good at this
💯!
I’m loving the Late Model Stocks at the moment
It says a lot about how much iRacing has improved the new player experience in the last few years that more than half of the cars on the list are free.
Now we want a list from Dave with his take on best cars regardless of participation! I wonder if GTE's, Radicals or any other makes the top 5!
I still love the holden v8 supercar.
Great shout!
All the GTE cars are awesome. Vette is probably my favourite though.
Porsche GT3 is my favourite more mainstream car.
Great shouts, we love some GTE action too!
Clio Cup
Formula 4
Ligier LMP 3
Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2
and ... Dirt Micro Sprint Car, the one with the balcony on the roof
My top 5 would be the
NASCAR 1987 Cup Series Chevrolet Monte Carlo
NASCAR 1987 Cup Series Ford Thunderbird
NASCAR 1987 Cup Series Buick LeSabre
NASCAR 1987 Cup Series Pontiac Grand Prix
and of course, the NASCAR Gen 4
Hell yeh, NASCAR! Dave loves his road course content, but let's not forget about ovals too, those are great suggestions!
#1 LMP2
#2 GT4
#3 Cadillac GTP
Cadillac is a great shout 🙌🏼
Big fan of the Mustang FR500s
We love that one too! Properly have to hustle it

Depends if you want to drive the cars as intended I guess 😁
You talking about the LMP2 car made me think of how awesome the Porsche RS Spyder Evo would be in iracing.
@@daboiracing3848 oooooh lord, if only...
Even the Oreca 07 would be a cool addition!

Audi 90 GTO, Lotus 79, SR8, SR10.....
Some superb drivers cars in there!
Ray ff1600
F4
radicals sr8 and sr10
SFL
Super formula
Great list!
While the LMP2 is nice to drive, keep in mind the racing isn't that good. Dirty air is huge and the draft minimal. Makes overtaking very hard.
Valid point! Although the multi-class format with lapped traffic provides an alternative form of excitement if you go down that route 😊
@@TraxionGG Yeah, for sure. I still like to sign up with it. Probably get fixed anyway sooner or later.... probably later when you know iRacing 😅 Not sure why it's so much worse in this specific car compared to other high downforce cars.
The ray is the only open wheel I can drive lol 😂 but by saying that I’ve had some really good racing in it
You can battle so closely with the lack of aero, it’s awesome 🙌🏼
if you don't believe his point about the GR86 check the videos on his channel, the racing is unreal!

I thought the Porsche cup car was the worst car in iRacing? I'm confused... Daniel Morad...
No Mazda on the list is absolute sacrilege

You should rename the video to YOUR top 5 cars. These are only based on subjective things, not the most popular or raced cars
