Both of the big gags with Moses are priceless. Oh well, Moses was going to break those other two original tablets as well, anyway. He just got a head start with one. Mel Brooks is an American treasure. A fitting movie to watch on Independence Day. Loved your reaction, young lady. You have a great sense of humor. PS: "Hung" is American slang for, let's say, well-endowed gentlemen.
"It's good to be the king." Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Gregory Hines, Pamela Stephenson, and Mary-Margaret Humes. Music Enthusiast Fact: The music used in the "Jews In Space" segment was recycled into the Men In Tights (1993) number from Robin Hood: Men In Tights (1993). That's Hot Fact: The vestal virgins (who took the oath of chastity) in Caesar's Palace in "The Roman Empire" segment were all Playboy playmates. Hugh Hefner appears as the pipe-smoking entrepreneur talking about his "centerfold" invention. Delayed Sequel Fact: On June 7, 1981, just four days before the movie opened in theaters, Mel Brooks was interviewed by The New York Times and mentioned the possibility of a sequel. However it never occurred. Brooks produced a limited eight-part History Of The World: Part II (2023) television series.

I was a department head where I used to work and one day one of the guys commented that it must be nice to flex my authority so I got myself a T-shirt that said, "It's good to be the king".
Caesar was played by Dom Deluise. He played numerous comedic roles from the 1960s until recently. He was often cast as the sweet, lovable buffoon, but you gotta love his portrayal of the raunchy Caesar. It’s good to see someone so young appreciate this kind of humor.
He also had a scene as the Pope in Johnny Dangerously. And a mobster a la Don Corleone in another Mell Brooks film. I think a screenshot of his "WRONG" megaphone moment from Blazing Saddles is the perfect graphic to send when chastising someone for screwing up.
The Ray Charles/Josephus bit was kind of an inside joke. Ray was playing a blind Oedipus, who in mythology was a guy who killed his father and married his mother. So when Josephus (tap dancing legend Gregory Hines) calls him a motherf*er, he's not lying. That's a crazy joke. Oedipus Complex.
one of my favorite "historical" comedies is a musical comedy from 1966 called "a funny thing happened on the way to the forum" directed by richard lester who directed the beatles first 2 films. it takes place in ancient rome and is based on the broadway play of the same title with music and lyrics by steven sondheim. the movie's opening and closing theme is called "a comedy tonight" which gives you an idea of what's in store. no reactors have reacted to this. Gregory Hines was a great actor, and one of the best soft shoe tap dancer's in the world. He appeared in movies and tv shows, including Will and Grace, as a returning character, before his death. The movie Tap, where he shows off his dancing skills with the likes of Sammy Davis Jr and Sandman Slim is one of my favorite movies of all time.
2 favorite other films I love with Gregory Hines are "Running Scared" with Billy Crystal and "White Nights" with Mikayl Baryshnikov and Isabella Rossellini. I would love to see reactions to both those films. The latter isn't really a comedy but the former is a quite funny buddy cop film that came out before the Lethal Weapon franchise.
@@bjgandalf69 I watch Running Scared at least once every year. I originally saw it in the theaters. White Knights has never been my flavor. But it was for several I hang out with. And I used the airport scene from RS for a project in film class, with Billy and Gregory driving on the train tracks.
@tenjed4224 Kewl that you loved RS so much that you did a film project based on it. Yea, the film is underrated and should have gotten a sequel. The only Peter Hyams film I know of that is a comedy. This is so fun watching you become a fan of Mel Brooks!😊I think I mentioned it before but Monty Python's "Meaning Of Life" is done in chapters like this is. Each chapter examines a different aspect of life. It's really very funny.Great reaction as always!😍
When i first saw this, i lost it at the "pack of trojans" joke and the "crawling with soldiers" gag. Mel Brooks is the one of the few who can make the simplest and dumbest jokes so frickin hysterical.
I love that you love this type of humor. I live in the United States and even went to New York City, and I have never seen the Statue of Liberty in person. One day. I love watching your reactions. The Ten Commandments bit was funny to me too. You should watch the 2005 Mel Brooks Producers movie. See you soon Aria
A big early TV star was Sid Caesar, (who played the main caveman) and Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner were 2 of the writers on his show. They later became a comedy duo. Reiner (father of director Rob Reiner) based the Dick Van Dyke TV show on being in that writing room.
The narrator is Orson Welles, a famous radio personality, actor, and director. Caveman is great! That's the comedy movie with dinosaurs. 20:07 - That guy who does the weird "pop" with his hand on his mouth, was Fritz Feld, and that was kind of his trademark.
What a fun time we just had! This audience will keep you busy with comedies for a long time. You certainly have shown a harmony with Mel's humor, you were running ahead of some of the lines! That was so great. I don't know of any other movies with Madelyn Kahn and dinosaurs. So this may be it. "They'll be hung." If so that would qualify as a "big decision", which should give you the appropriate flashback to Blazing Saddles "They said you was hung. And they was RIGHT!" Also, hanging the horse along with the cowboy meant that the cowboy was "hung like a horse", an extremely deep joke underneath the absurdity shown in that scene. "Walk this way" has always been an opening for some kind of humorous response. Example: "If I could walk that way I wouldn't need the talcum powder." Young Frankenstein preceded this film, 1974 vs. 1981. Kudos that you got the Oedipus joke. And the Maurice Chevalier reference. if you check the filmography of the cast you will find them to be big stars in movies, TV, and the comedy circuit at the time and in the future. This was jam-packed with talent that helped to make it great. You will absolutely crack up at A Fish Called Wanda. Looking forward to more of your reactions, thanks so much for sharing. You are a delight.
Although it's not part of the movie, he released a song to promote it named "It's good to be the King". It is considered to be one of the earliest american rap song.
As french, I can tell the view of Louis XVI is "little" exaggerated. And story of revolution is little more complex. Guillotine wasn't using for executions in 1789, and people didn't want the head of the king at this moment. Yes, yes that was very interesting I know. But what a great comedy. Also I think the moment where king shoot people is inspired by the movie "The Devils" by Ken Russell. And Aria, if you want see an old movie with dinosaures and humans, you should wathch "One Million Years B.C", a classic. And in comedies I can advice to you two anthology films : "Kentucky fried movie" and "Amazon Women on the Moon".
The joke at about 12:31, "If they're captured, they're hung." "Not necessarily." , is a play on the word, "hung". One meaning a method of execution, the other has to do with a lengthy male appendage.
Dom Deloiuse, who plays Emperor Nero, is in Silent Movie with Marty Feldman (Eyegore from Young Frankenstein). Some of my other favorite Mel Brooks movies are The Producers, High Anxiety, and Robin Hood Men in Tights.
Another great comedy is "Murder by Death (1976)" It hosts a lot of stars of the '70s, Peter Sellers was a favorite of mine in this movie. Also, a young Maggie Smith is in it, she played Professor Minerva McGonagall in the "Harry Potter franchise."
I am a 38 year old American nerd, and I have never seen Bladerunner. It just hasn't happened yet. So no, it's not even a little bit weird that someone hasn't seen a particular movie. That dude is weird.
Well, as they said in Holy Grail: Get on with it! Seriously, it is a visual treat of fantastic filmmaking and presents great roles for Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer. It makes you think. Very gritty. I think it deserves to be high on the "to see" list. All the best to you!
("Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition") - Spike Milligan is the actor who plays the old father in prison. Spike was the BIG inspiration for Monty Python's style of absurd humour.
Great reaction video. This movie is so funny. I might recommend that you watch Brooks in the remake of “To Be or Not To Be,” which also starred his real-life wife, Anne Bancroft. It’s very funny, though there are some serious moments in it as well. Brooks produced it, but it was directed by Alan Johnson, who choreographed several of Mel’s movies, including “History of the World.”
I am really looking forward to watching all of the movies you have listed, especially The Meaning of Life! Also, watching Monty Python's Flying Circus is not for everyone, but for those who do like it, it is a bit of something different! And so much fun too!! Get some rest and I will see you in your next reaction!!
Aria and comedies are such a great combination. You have to love her infectious laugh. And by the way, /m in my late 60's and still haven't seen Blade Runner. Nor do I have a huge desire to see it.
There is also a history of the world pt 2 that was the first sequel he made and he's going to be a producer on spaceballs 2 which they are currently working on the cast.
Please keep watching comedies. I love watching you crack up. I highly recommend Porky’s. It’s pretty raunchy, but you laughed the most with the raunchy jokes in this one, so I think you’ll love Porky’s
Great, I was thinking about this movie last night and that no one reacts to it. Glad it was you that reacted first. You do comedies so well. BTW Part 2 was done recently as a streaming series. I am sure some people liked it; meh.... Drunk History was a far better series. Based on what you referenced, my vote is A Fish Called Wanda. Kevin Kline won an Oscar for it. The entire cast was awesome too!
Ooh yeah! I vote for that too, to be swiftly followed by "Fierce Creatures" with the same group of actors - John Cleese, Michael Palin, Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin Kline. Kevin deserved his Oscar for Wanda and his performance in Creatures is just as good. I also loved his performance in "Dave" with Sigourney Weaver
The joke the Empress makes about being 'hung'.. hung is slang for having a large penis.. the same joke was used in Blazing Saddles. Bart's friend says, I heard you were hung. Bart responds with, 'and they were right'.. 🤣.. enjoyed watching your Mel Brooks journey

The "part I" is the probably the longest call back in joke history. It is referring to Sir Francis Drake, explorer and privateer who, while being imprisoned in the Tower of London, wrote a book History of the World Part I, fully intending to write a Part II, only to be killed by the English crown before he could.
@@ariachanson01 Young Frankenstein is my second favorite. Igor is great.. Its even better if you have seen the original Frankenstein and bride of Frankenstein. I like when you watch comedies, Love your smile 😇😁
😄👍 Dom DeLuise, who played Ceasar in this movie, was also Don Giovanni in "Robin Hood Men In Tights" and the guy directing the gay dance routine at the end of "Blazing Saddles." He's also in the Mel Brooks film, "The 12 Chairs" (1970). I am really looking forward to watching you react to every single one of those films you mentioned at the end. I did a search of your channel and noticed that so far, you've only reacted to one Jim Carrey comedy ("Bruce Almighty"). I also highly recommend "Liar Liar" (1997) and "The Mask" (1994). 😉
_History of the World, Part 1_ is from '81. _Young Frankenstein_ is from '74. But it seems to me the bit in question ("Walk this way.") is probably quite a bit older than that.
There isn’t a part 2 … yet. It was simply a joke… however funnily enough there was an actor (I forget his name at the moment, the guy who played the snowman from Frozen) who recently tweeted a script with much of it obscured, but what was shown has lead people to believe it a really might be Part 2.
Another great American comedy is Smokey and the Bandit! It’s a southern American favorite but because a National Treasure! Starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field and the great Jackie Gleason.
You've been knocking it out of the park with these silly movies lately. More outrageously silly movie recommendations include This is Spinal Tap, Three Amigos. More modern recommendations include Step Brothers, Tropic Thunder.

Top Secret (1984), Airplane (1980), Arsenic and Old Lace (1944), Weekend at Bernie's (1989), Caveman (1981), Clue (1985), Twins (1988) and any other Mel Brooks or Monty Python films.
I've seen lots of reactions to Mel Brooks and Monty Python and you are genuinely the best!! It's like silly-smart comedy.
My fav type of comedy:D
Never get tired of comedies! Just do not watch the boring ones. Haha!
Great reaction!
Tight on...I love to watch you laughing Aria. :)
and Aria again with one of the cutest reactions. Thank you very much.
Thankyou for watching ❤️
@@ariachanson01 i think i saw the reaction for naked gun 3 at least 20 times from start to finish :D
You are awesome❤️
@@ariachanson01 no you are, thank you so very much for doing this. plz dont stop
Aerosmith wrote "Walk this way" after watching Young Frankenstein. Mel loved the gag and put it in as a running joke in other of his movies.
There is actually a part 2 now after like 40 years, it was a Hulu series
Mel didn't hold back on this movie. I love this movie.. Glad you did too.
The narrator is Orson Welles, a famous radio personality, actor, and director.
Caveman is great! That's the comedy movie with dinosaurs.
20:07 - That guy who does the weird "pop" with his hand on his mouth, was Fritz Feld, and that was kind of his trademark.
It took a while, but - a of very recently - there is a part 2. It's a show rather than a movie.
The History of The World Part 2 is available on Hulu.
Someone said Caveman is the one with dinosaurs. I just confused it as a Madeline Kahn movie😅
Although it's not part of the movie, he released a song to promote it named "It's good to be the King". It is considered to be one of the earliest american rap song.
Saw this at the movies. I laughed so much I almost choked on my popcorn.
New rule: No food when watching a comedy🚫
@@ariachanson01 No drinks either, if you want to keep the screen clean!
I'm having a blast watching your comedy reactions; no complaints 🔥🎆
The beautiful and kindhearted Aria graces us once again🥰
❤️❤️❤️
@@ariachanson01 ❤❤❤❤
Anything that makes you laugh out loud...you keep watching. When you laugh the whole world lights up and you make us all warm and fuzzy inside.🥰😆
Just so you know history of the world part 2 came out last year and Mel brooks did it,haven’t seen it as it’s only on Netflix I think.
The joke at about 12:31, "If they're captured, they're hung." "Not necessarily." , is a play on the word, "hung". One meaning a method of execution, the other has to do with a lengthy male appendage.
The joke with Madeline Kahn saying "Not necessarily." about whether our heroes were "hung" was a reference to their "endowment".
She was so awesome in "Clue." Too much talent, gone far too soon, never to be forgotten.
"It's GOOD to be King!"... Which is why Mel always casts himself in those roles! hehehe
Dom Deloiuse, who plays Emperor Nero, is in Silent Movie with Marty Feldman (Eyegore from Young Frankenstein). Some of my other favorite Mel Brooks movies are The Producers, High Anxiety, and Robin Hood Men in Tights.
THIS ONE IS A CLASSIC !!!!
Mighty joint?
“Up in Smoke” comes to my mind, now we’re talking comedy 😂
At the beginning you said we may learn something… did you?
I learned there used to be 15 commandments. 😂
Another great comedy is "Murder by Death (1976)" It hosts a lot of stars of the '70s, Peter Sellers was a favorite of mine in this movie. Also, a young Maggie Smith is in it, she played Professor Minerva McGonagall in the "Harry Potter franchise."
I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition!
Me neither!
Nobody does!
“Nobody’s expects the spanish Inquisition”
I've never seen Bladerunner either, and usually I've seen these older classic films. Great reaction.
Orson Wells did the narration. Brooks paid him $ 10,000. Great post. Don't let the bastards get you down!
I am a 38 year old American nerd, and I have never seen Bladerunner. It just hasn't happened yet. So no, it's not even a little bit weird that someone hasn't seen a particular movie. That dude is weird.
THANK YOU
Exactly what I thought
I believe the statue is a sphinx, woman's head, lion's body, bird's wings. Oedipus faces one in Greek myth.
I am really looking forward to watching all of the movies you have listed, especially The Meaning of Life! Also, watching Monty Python's Flying Circus is not for everyone, but for those who do like it, it is a bit of something different! And so much fun too!! Get some rest and I will see you in your next reaction!!
Fun thing. Mel re-used the melody and music from "Jews in Space" for the "Men in Tights" song.
Aria and comedies are such a great combination. You have to love her infectious laugh. And by the way, /m in my late 60's and still haven't seen Blade Runner. Nor do I have a huge desire to see it.
for sure in my Top 5 Mel Brooks Movies...
Part II came out on Hulu a year or 2 ago. It is worth checking out.
There is also a history of the world pt 2 that was the first sequel he made and he's going to be a producer on spaceballs 2 which they are currently working on the cast.
Mel Brooks was everywhere, man. He's gotta be in his 1,000,000's
"It's good to be da King!"
I have this on VHS. Fun!!
At Universal Studios I rode a Tour Tram through the Red Sea Parting set but Moses was not there!
This is not a comedy its a documentary filmed in real time, it all happened just like this
I always wondered what the other Five Commandments were. 😂
More comedies! Definitely watch more comedies! The world needs to laugh right now, or we're going to burst out crying.
True, more comedies it is:D
@@ariachanson01 Yay! 🥳
I appreciate that she did this.
Please keep watching comedies. I love watching you crack up. I highly recommend Porky’s. It’s pretty raunchy, but you laughed the most with the raunchy jokes in this one, so I think you’ll love Porky’s
Even President Eisenhower thought it was funny!
I'll be watching every single one I mentioned😁
@@dingokidneys it is like saffrom... A little or a lot. it is all great. Monty without Python.Terry directed A Fish Called Wanda I think...
Oh, thanks for explaining. I didn't get this joke in Blazing Saddles either🙈😅
@@ariachanson01 I'm so happy you get/caught so many of the jokes, it makes it so much fun to laugh with you. Each time you rewatch this movie, you will catch jokes you missed because they are non-stop
If you are still looking for laughs.. silly comedy= Tommy Boy.. smart comedy= Big Lebowski.. your intelligence jumps off of the screen, great channel.. keep it up!! 😎👍
Not necessarily hung is referring to his male appendage
Keep going with Mel Brooks, you will see each movie has callback to previous ones. You will enjoy Hot Fuzz and the rest of Mel Brooks. Airplane is another 70'-80's classic, lot of 70'-80's humor so you can miss certain things but worth it. See you and Minnie next time!
Saw Airplane 1&2 last year, loved them:D many more Mel Brooks movies still left though😄
@@ariachanson01 Oops, forgot about Airplane.
The "part I" is the probably the longest call back in joke history. It is referring to Sir Francis Drake, explorer and privateer who, while being imprisoned in the Tower of London, wrote a book History of the World Part I, fully intending to write a Part II, only to be killed by the English crown before he could.
The one with dinosaurs is Caveman, starring Ringo Starr, it's hilarious, I recommend it enthusiastically.
One of my favorite Mel Brooks movies.
From the ones I've seen, this one and Young Frankenstein top the list for me :D
@@ariachanson01 Young Frankenstein is my second favorite. Igor is great.. Its even better if you have seen the original Frankenstein and bride of Frankenstein. I like when you watch comedies, Love your smile 😇😁
Brooks produced History of the World Part Two, not as a movie but as a mini-series on Hulu
“The last remake of beau geste” is very funny but rarely watched. I recommend it to you because I think you would love it.
There is a part 2 but it's a Hulu exclusive and it's split into parts. Not as good as this one but there are some gets a few chuckles.
V and X store is also known as a Five and Dime store.
_History of the World, Part 1_ is from '81. _Young Frankenstein_ is from '74. But it seems to me the bit in question ("Walk this way.") is probably quite a bit older than that.
Also, I would recommend the movie Clue if you haven’t seen it. Madeline Kahn is in it, among many other legendary comedy actors.
Her best lines in that movie I say.
A COMEDY (with Jack Black and Michael Cera ) that travels thru time is "Year One"... I think you'd enjoy it!
There isn’t a part 2 … yet. It was simply a joke… however funnily enough there was an actor (I forget his name at the moment, the guy who played the snowman from Frozen) who recently tweeted a script with much of it obscured, but what was shown has lead people to believe it a really might be Part 2.
Actually, there was a part 2. Mel Brooks did a part 2. It was on one of the streaming services so it wasn't widely known.
Recommendations for comedy:
1 - Fletch
2 - Fletch Lives! (Has the sheriff from Blazing Saddles in it)
Peace and love to you. Thanks for sharing.
I seen the statue of liberty.. in ghostbusters 2 ^^
one silly movie that is somehow lost is 1989s 'Erik the Viking'. Its so silly its so fun.. and not a single react anywhere
All comedy, all the time please.
Yayy
@@ariachanson01 Fish Called Wanda is for sure great. Every Steve Martin film he made from The Jerk (before that was bit parts) to Father of the Bride (after that they got less funny generally). Hot Shots and Hot Shots Part Deux. That's 15 films to be getting on with (because you've done Planes Trains) 🥳
great reaction great film
There is a History of the World Part II. I haven't seen it, so cant comment.
A Fish Called Wanda! Yes!
And there will always be assholes. Sorry you had to deal with one, though.
Mel Brooks', "Silent Movie". ✌️❤️🌹
Yo✌🏻✌🏻
@@ariachanson01 enjoy. ✌️❤️🌹
Yes please! Mel Brooks with Marty Feldman (Igor).
So sorry to hear about that jerk's comment, but I'm happy this film made your day. BTW, "Caveman" might be the comedy that has dinosaurs you were talking about.
Have you watched Mel Brooks' "Silent Movie" yet?
