  • Whatley Quarry
    Opened 1880 and the biggest limestone quarry in Europe.. 59005 drags out 4400 tons of limestone with ease loaded onto one train, how many lorry's is that.
    With locomotives 59005, 66172, 59004 and 59103.
    Trains are seen passing along fFordbury water and into and out of
    Great Elm, access is via East Mendip Way footpath.

    I,m never tired whenever I watch this video. absoutly 100% top notch. I go to great elm a lot and it always amaze me how much they can pull out of whatley. well done. look forward to seing more if you have it.

    I counted 22 wagons, reckon 2200-2,400 tonnes max including wagon weight noting the camera change part way though, on the first train. I know these can haul 3300 toone, Ive not heard of them pulling 4,400. But I can be wrong.

    Nice video, but the headcodes you quote - presumably from somewhere like open train times - are incorrect.
