    I think that is an excellent idea. Helps from cutting too much off in the beginning, as I am prone to. Great tip.

    This is awesome “put away the shears” thank you I’ve only done 2 junipers and the pressure to cut gets in the way of learning about the tree.

    I'd like to see you work on one that has a nasty 5 branch whorl right in the middle of an otherwise nicely shaped tree. I'd also like to see the whole process from nursery pot to roots to branches with seasons. I'm having trouble nailing down when to do what. Just got my plant and all I know to do is let it sit til spring. Or winter. Or fall?

    Great demo Jason. How detailed do you go with wiring on the young junipers? For example, you used a fine wire on the branch you made the apex, maybe a 1.5mm. Did you go this fine on other branches, or did you just stick to larger wire on main branch? (Not sure if you use metric for wire sizing in the US?)

    How much root trimming did you end up doing? Bonsai pot right off the bat, or did you try to gain some strength by putting it in a larger pot?

    Can it be trimmed at every time of the year or is there a specific time?

    • @ajknaup3530
      @ajknaup3530 4 года назад +1

      Junipers can be trimmed any time of year, more drastic pruning is best done in the Spring, just as the new buds begin to form. For other species, the timing may be different. Maples, for instance, may bleed out & die if pruned very much in the Spring, when their sap is running.
