I was 14 and my husband was 17 when we started dating. We got married when I was 17 and he was 20. He had joined the Army, so we moved to New York, where he was stationed and we were poor! But, we were happy! We grew up together in our marriage and I was lucky to have a wonderful, caring husband. We went through hard times, but we got through it and had 3 wonderful sons and recently a grandson! You’re so right that you have to have the same vision to make the marriage work. This was a great video, Lisa!

Love this! Same here I was 16 when I met my husband we got married when I was 18 we were very poor for a lot of years ! Now we’re self employed for 28 years have two wonderful boys and a wonderful marriage of 37 years! And still going strong 💪 it wasn’t easy in fact very hard at times ! But we’ve always had the same vision for what we wanted and both sides of the family had the same values !

My husband of 12 years left me 2 weeks ago. I’m at the crying and anger stage. However, I understand I picked someone who was never on the same page as me. What resonated with me the most was that I must choose qualities first, I can’t fall for someone who is just available to fill this void or fall for someone’s looks before I get in too deep emotionally. I needed this. I will 100% wait now. And if I never find that, so be it. Thanks Lisa ❤️

I’m sorry. I had exactly the same happen to me. Very gut wrenching. I went to work on myself truly living on purpose. Even hired a marriage coach. My ex ultimately still decided to divorce me anyway. Yet I was in a much better place than when he left. He was very remorseful but I quickly moved on afterwards, had fun, and found the perfect guy. I’m remarried.

You hit the nail on the head. It's all relative. Something I've learned is to never compare to others, we all have our own journeys of ups and downs. Some of the most content people I've known are truly happy with who they are, each blessing they have and not comparing their lives to others. Lisa I know you want to please us all, but remember you won't ever please everyone no matter how hard you try. Just try to be content and do what you want...the people that don't like it, well shrug them off because they aren't worth your time. Over the years I've watched you, you've always been such a sweet soul and that shines through and keeps me coming back. Unfortunately, some don't like that and want to try to do all they can to snuff out that sweetness and turn it into something ugly. Keep being you and only please yourself, the right people worth your time will stick around! xo

I came across this video at the exact right time (in my life)...I am 29 and everything you explained about growing, dating, money and making wrong turns (and plenty of stupid mistakes) is exactly where I am/leaving behind now. Sometimes I feel like realising all these dumb mistakes I have made with money and dating (especially) at this age of 29 is so late, but I try to be nice to myself and remind myself everyone is on a different journey. I also currently do that dumb thing of paying of a credit card....then using it to buy shoes lol. But I am trying to be better. I have dated soooooooo many losers (for lack of a nicer word :) ) and now I am the stage of my life where I would rather be alone than stuck with someone I don't trust/see myself with in the long term. I have realised a lot about myself in the past 2 years (had a kinda epiphany/quarter life crisis when I turned 27) but I STILL feel so lost about parts of my life now!

Hi Lisa, I just wanted to say Thank You! This video has truly lifted a weight from my heavy heart after a year of feeling sheer sadness. I am 28, have been separated from my husband around 14 months and in the process of selling our beautiful first home. I am back living with my amazing, supportive parents (who like yours insisted I came home.. even long before we separated). I ended up leaving with a bag and my dog. I pushed so many red flags and feelings aside with the hope that things would get better to the point we went through with getting married. I came to realise after what seemed like forever of trying to work out such a toxic relationship that I was simply not happy anymore. Like you once felt the feeling of embarrassment.. still now I feel totally embarrassed that I am going backwards in life and I’m slowly trying to rebuild my confidence. I feel hopeful watching your video today because I know that better days are coming. I have been a (silent)subscriber of yours for many many years and love watching your videos especially your GRWM's. Your children and husband are blessed to have you. You truly deserve each other and everything you have. Take care xx💕

Lisa, this is what it boils down to for me; this is YOUR RUclips channel to do what you want to do with it. Your words were “I want to shop for everyone...I want to show everyone something that would make them happy”. That is EXACTLY what you do, so honestly I go back to what I typically comment on your videos like this; you do what you want to do and if people want to criticize then ignore it. I also love that you choose to be happy. I love how you can demonstrate how you’ve learned and grown from your experiences, whether they might have been negative or positive. Such an inspiration. It’s so incredible that you shared all of that detail of what lead you to move home with your parents...I hope the right people watch your video because so so many people end up down that road and it’s important to hear that you can come back from that.

After my divorce I made a short list of qualities I needed in a man. It takes a long hard look at yourself to find out what it is you need. I married that man that fit all my qualifications and we were happy and in love for 25 years until his death last year. Lisa, when you firmly took credit for finding John you were absolutely correct! YOU did that! That's an accomplishment for having done the groundwork.

Amen, sister, amen. Don't even hang around men who don't have the same values as you. I had to go through two unhappy marriages and get into my 30s before I figured out that it was okay to want what I wanted and not settle for less. Of course much of that was because of the horrible home in which I grew up. I love that you're trying to get this across to young women today.

Personally I love shopping at Walmart or Target for basics and then splurging on myself on a "luxury item." I relate you you because I'm the exact same way with bags or shoes. I like shopping at Walmart or Target for basics. Don't let anyone make you feel bad keep doing exactly what you want because it's your channel and your time being invested. You don't have the following you have for nothing. I love that I can come to your channel and and it's the best of both worlds. There aren't many channels that combine both the way you do. I remember after my first husband and I divorced- I didn’t make enough money to survive so I would use credit cards to buy toiletries. My roommate came up with the bright idea for me to buy a bunch of bedding at one store and return it at another location so I could use the cash to pay my rent. I got 4 jobs and made arrangements with the creditors when they called- thankfully I followed through. It was tough. I had only 1 contact lens so my vision was blurry and the steel belt was showing on my tires so I couldn’t travel to see my family but I was proud to say I paid off all my debt and my car 6 months early. It built my character- that’s for sure. I do remember My dad surprised me with a card that had $500 in it, though! He wanted me to move home but my step mom- uh, no, I wouldn’t have been welcome. Bless my dad, he still doesn’t realize.

My lord I felt this one. I understand the dad snd the stepmom thing and often wonder where my life would be if my dad chose a better life partner for his EXISTING family. He didn’t choose that person, and realizes it, but now has two children under the age of 16 that he’s put hisself in the situation to care for and wants to follow through for them, which is in the end a solid choice. And his wife has helped him in certain ways and he’s no spring chicken to go through the whole dating thing and start over AGAIN! I love my little brothers, and I feel great joy for them that they too get to enjoy such a wonderful father... especially since their mother is sub par. Bless our dads, but mine too, “still doesn’t realize” sooo many things!!!! I’m so glad you’re doing well, and you’re right, the tough times build character. 💕

Sad to say, even though I'm 6 ft5 with a bear belly to boot, I am not even close to manly. It didn't work out because he didn't want me, who I am. Which is really such a blessing... like you were saying it will never work out unless they want you for who you truly are. On top of that, being oved for someone that your not is not really being loved at all, is it?

You should have a shape of a plan and a direction you would like to go otherwise you will bounce around. I like how you called 19-25 the formative years. This could not be more true!! I was married at 19 and divorced at 26. No one should marry before they are at least 25 years old. You don’t know sh__ from shinola until you are 25 or 26. I want to thank you so much for posting this video. I know sometimes when you are posting videos of things that you have bought it is easy to think of you as someone that has never had it hard. Or someone that has never been broke. And if you have not then you do not know what it is like. And that’s ok, but I just feel like this video made you more real, more relatable, if that makes any sense🤷🏻‍♀️ it just made me love you that much more!! That you have been on the bottom, and now your on the top🥰 it’s a work hard feel good type video, inspiring, ya know. Like you can do it!! I loved it!!❤️💕💕

Lisa really appreciated your candor and listening to your wisdom. My husband and I were so broke at one point our electricity had been shut off. We lived on the 2 nd floor of an apartment building,we took strands of Christmas lights and strung them down the hallway building to get electricity. I remember it like it was yesterday. I think those times makes us stronger and wiser.😘

I live in a tiny cottage that is probably the same size as the room you are in, but it is all mine and paid for. It is only 16 x 24 feet, with a loft. It is on 11 acres in the mountains and I couldn't be any happier. Happiness is an inside job. People who gave you a hard time are just jealous haters. I feel sad for them.

No one gets through life unscathed. When my good friend was so sad over the loss of her elderly dog, I got her to laugh over my friend who has an incredible job, beautiful family, lovely home, yadda, yadda, but struggles with toe nail fungus, and was asked to play a disciple in the annual church passion play, ha! Happily he is comfortable in his own skin, messy toe nails and all.
Here’s another tidbit I heard. If we all walked around with sticky notes on our shirts describing our current struggles and concerns, wouldn’t we all be nicer to each other? Now that you have the visual, you don’t even need to know what the stickies say. It’s a new fashion trend!
Thanks for all the lovely videos!

I’m sending love from CT! I’ve been on carnivore for a month now and feel great bc of YOU! Also, I was a SINGLE MOM raising a little girl by myself for the first 10 years of her life. I worked my butt off to support us WITHOUT government assistance. Never dated bc of working all the time but ALSO very picky of what men I would bring into our life. I did meet the most wonderful man 3 years ago. Old by 8 years and does well for himself financially…. Women around me and who don’t know me went nuts. Said things that weren’t very nice about me and tried to ruin my reputation. Well, it backfired. They ended up being the ones that looked foolish and eventually got outcasted. I did not do that to them. They did it to themselves. I just sat back and watched it happen keeping quiet and minding my own business. Jealousy is a hurtful emotion. Let’s be nice ladies… You never know what battles other women are fighting in their lives. Kindness ALWAYS WINS.
    Love and Light

I think one of the most important takeaways from this video, is that one cannot fault someone or make someone a bad person because they do not share your individual vision of happiness and fulfillment. Taking accountability for one’s choices, including one’s choices in people, is a massive realization you had. Being informed about one’s partner’s life goals and discovering if both people are in alignment is definitely a necessary precursor to marriage, and most definitely an individual responsibility.

I love this video! I would add to young girls ... Be aware of red flags. Do not be a collector of red flags. You only need one. I had SO many red flags with my first husband... which I ignored. Excessive drinking, not coming home after work lying, cheating. At 23, I was very naive.

I divorced at 27. Like you I wanted to be the wife and I wanted to be married so much that I ignored every red flag being thrown at me. He was stability. He was a change in pace and a way out. I ignored my happiness and chose him instead of choosing us. When I left I was a SAHM. I had zero dollars and 2 babies. It was so devastating to my pride to move back in with my parents but it turned into the greatest blessing. I found myself again. Home was peaceful and loving and kind. My children were happy. I returned to work at a gas station barely making over minimum wage... but I didn't care. I was happy. I saved. I bought furniture. Beds. TV's. Home goods. My parents entire basement was full of brand new items still in boxes. When I left my husband I left with nothing. I wanted nothing. I had two bags of clothes for me and the kids, diapers, and a diaper bag. That was it. I didn't care either. I wanted to rebuild on my own and without him ever again being able to tell me what I wouldn't have if it weren't for him. We lived with my parents for almost 2 years. It seems like a really long time but I'll never regret that time with them. After finding a much better job, we moved out and into a home of our own. Several years later...I am still in that same home and even though I can now afford more and buy a better house... but I'd rather have more than enough than just enough or barely getting by. 7 months ago I lost my dad and the kids lost their grandpa. I think back on that time I lived with them and the millions of memories we created together. What felt like the worst moment in my life ever... is now something I will forever and always be thankful for. That time was a gift. I have now remarried and my husband is everything. He is so incredibly kind and giving of himself. He is thoughtful, calm, loving, funny, and he loves me for who I am.
I would never wish to be young again... my son is 17 now and I see so much of his world and how overwhelming it is. Kids his age are learning from previous generations... they don't want massive amounts of student loans and most of his friends are opting to go to 2 year schools instead of universities. And dating? I couldn't date in today's world. Kids today are from split homes and marriage is viewed as a failed system. I could go on and on... I'm rambling but this video hit on so many things close to home

My mother told me, "Get an education. You'll always be able to take care of yourself and not depend on anyone. Husbands can die or you can get a divorce but your world will not end if you have an education and a career."You can take care of your children and yourself if you have to. Lisa, speaking from your heart ♥️ is how you built this beautiful community of women and I’m so grateful for all the years I’ve spent here with you. It is so true what you said about making the biggest decisions of our lives when we are still so young and immature. If I could go back I would do so many things differently. I’ve been so blessed to have raised and provided for my three beautiful children and have been graced with six gorgeous grandchildren. I gave up a lot of my dreams and made a lot of sacrifices so that they could have security. But at the age of 63 (next week) I find myself having to rebuild my life from scratch. Hearing your thoughts give me courage and strength Lisa. I’m tired of living my life in a box that someone else put me in. I know what I want and I don’t apologize for going out and getting it, because it’s now or never. I got anxiety when you said you were thinking not to post this video. Thank you so much for sharing it because God wanted me to hear this. This is why I love you. ♥️ ~Susanne 😘💕🌸🌺🌸🌺

Thank you for opening up. You are a true entrepreneur and have worked hard and truly know the value of money. When you work hard you are entitled to spend your hard earned money on whatever you want. You don't owe anyone an explanation. Comparing the high end requests vs. Walmart haul requests, you truly can't please everyone. Do videos on what makes you happy, what makes your heart sing and gives you joy. Your followers enjoy what you enjoy. As a young, single woman I appreciate your advice and life experiences. You are not preachy nor pushy neither proud nor boastful. You give really good advice.
