Speakers corner has changed like everything else in our country. Muslims do get aggressive that is true and it is not just at speakers corner. Something that amazed me some weeks ago was at schools where in one case a child had been told not to wear a Palestinian flag broach on her clothing and the next day she wore it again and got sent home. British culture is the parents would come to the school and speak with the head. In this case the school was surrounded by Free Palestine mob flying their flags and even hanging their flags outside the school and demanding the teacher was given the sack. In the other school the local muslim community protested outside the school and now that teacher is in fear of his life and has gone into hiding. Do we really need this in our country?

Indian society under Hindu values would be another example.
It's a shame that people don't always take matters further when the police fail to do their jobs. I'd be making misconduct complaints against specific officers who were present including the most senior officer on site. I'd also complain that the particular officer refused to do their job because of my religion so that it is recorded as a hate incident.

Sadly a section of the Islamic community has learned that bullying tactics not only work - but they do so without genuine risk of any consequences. Speakers corner is only one amongst a multitude of examples. I recently read about a place in the midlands where groups of Muslims were harassing a ladies hockey team. Complaints to the police essentially resulted in ‘go play elsewhere’. A rugby team on an attached pitch kept having broken glass sprinkled on it. Complaints led to the same conclusion. Nowadays it is an Islamic centre. Now I’m well aware that this could be pure fiction but it doesn’t sound beyond belief.

I went to Speakers Corner a few times about 20 years ago. I loved it. I was gonna bring a young Christian with me for the experience. I don’t think I will be doing that now. The place has become overly hostile and violent. I couldn’t risk his safety.

Sadly a section of the Islamic community has learned that bullying tactics not only work - but they do so without genuine risk of any consequences. Speakers corner is only one amongst a multitude of examples. I recently read about a place in the midlands where groups of Muslims were harassing a ladies hockey team. Complaints to the police essentially resulted in ‘go play elsewhere’. A rugby team on an attached pitch kept having broken glass sprinkled on it. Complaints led to the same conclusion. Nowadays it is an Islamic centre. Now I’m well aware that this could be pure fiction but it doesn’t sound beyond belief.
