I have the Kia Sorento 2019 GT-Line and I'm looking to switch up to the 2021 but I wanna know if there's any announcements on the gt line version of the 2021. Car looks awesome. Great review. Thanx
Thanks for watching the video. I am not sure if a 5 passeneger will be offerened in the Canadian market. What I do know so far is that there are 3 models. 2.2diesel, 1.6T Hybrid and 2.5T. A 5 passenger Sorento only comes in 2.2 diesel model according to Kia Homepage in Korea.
Really nice review. I was thinking I would like the Kia Sorento, but they needed to make it a little more better in looks, and 2021 they changed the look of the SUV better. But, I don't know how tall the presenter is in this video, but he seem to stand tall past roof line. I have Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7 2001, and had it lifted twice, so I still want some height; not sitting low down to a car level per say. I'm 5'9" and the roof line is above top of my head, since I lifted it twice. James, how tall are you if I may ask?
Thanks for watching the video. I totally agree with you but personally the new Sorento has gotten a lot better than before and I am sure they will get better and better. To answer your question, I am 5'11". I didnt feel any discomfort while test driving the new Sorento, but it would always be best to test drive it before making any decisions. Thanks for sharing your opinion!!!
@@카티 Wow.. okay, you're 5'11, taller than me.. :o) 5'9". Okay... game changer then. My baby still driver good, looks good, but getting too many little wear and tear things happening, like under the vehicle. You know, 18+ yrs and still rolling. ;o)
The US model will have the new 2.5T as top option with 300HP. That will definitely make this SUV move faster. This will be a great buy. Note that the new 2021 Santa Fe is coming soon as well and will share same engine platforms offered. I bet the price for a fully loaded Sorento will surpass $40K though which is not cheap however it is much cheaper than a German brand. Personally i would only consider the 2.5T engine. the other 2.5 naturally aspirated will be too weak for a heavy suv. Maybe they will offer also the new 1.6T that can be found in other models combined with Hybrid system for those who only care about gas mileage savings.
Thanks for watching the video. I totally agree with you. What I tested was 2.2 diesel with 8sp dct. In my personal opinion, it was slow despite other reviews from other channels were satisfied with its acceleration. 2.5T would be very nice bmand hopefully it would be reasonable to buy. What I testdrove, full option, was around 38k USD and I am sure 2.5T would surely be more. Overall, it is a good family SUV.
The sorento is usually more premium than the santa fe. On the other hand, you are confused regarding the 2.4 base engine that this crossovers have in the US. Many people think they are underpowered but they haven't driven them. Additionally, they are fairly lightweight in 2.4 configuration
@@edwinalfredo310 2.4 Naturally aspirated engine is too weak for this car. furthermore, the 2.4 is to be replaced with a 2.5 NA. So 2.4 and 2.0T are being retired and replaced with new engines for Hyundai and KIA new lineup.
I have a 2010 Sorento XM with 2.2 Diesel engine. 10 years ago the engine had already the same power output (197hp) and has the same issue regarding throttle response and acceleration. I don’t see a real progress in more than 10 years...
Thanks for watching the video. I think you are driving the same model as my mother. When it was released, it was so sensational that everyone wanted to purchase one and they were sold so many here in Korea. The overall powertrain may be similar, but I am positive many of parts and functions have been upgraded for a decade. Besides, all these high tech stuff in the cars are so handy when I was driving. Thank you for sharing your opinion!
Thanks for watching the video! The one I drove was a diesel model and I loved it very much. Obviously, driving a petrol suv here in Korea is not so popular since the price of pertrol is really high. Diesel is cheaper/economical when it comes to money. According to Kia homepage in Korea, the Diesel model produces less CO2 output. No matter how good the car is, it is still a diesel model and it will make more and more noise as you drive. However, even diesel models have gotten so much better so I am sure it wouldn't be so distracting to drive it. If I have to choose a SUV to buy, I will choose between Sorento Diesel and Hybrid.
Thank you for watching the video. I tried to find out the towing capacity everywhere, but unfortunately I wasn't able to find it yet. We are still trying to find it out and will let you know as soon as we get it. Thank you!

Love this vehicle, thanks for the review, but I need acceleration. Will a gas or hybrid model be available in the States? Also is there a 5 seat version of this?
simon2077...The gas model hasn't been released in Korea yet. Just diesel and hybrid. And yes, the US will get the new 2.5T and the hybid. The Sorento is available in 5,6 or 7 passenger configurations.
Great review. Given it's a family car, would be nice if you could talk a bit about child seats and how it fits. Really want to know if you can access the third row with two child seats in place, rear and forward facing.
Thanks for watchin the video. I am sorry that I did not talk about the child seats and their fitment. My kids no longer use car seats so that I didn't think that far. Thank you for pointing it out though. I will keep it in mind so I can talk about it and the fitmentand on my next video. :)
As an owner of a 2017 Sorento (six speed auto diesel) as well as having had a 2011 one I'm not entirely surprised that the acceleration isn't quite up to the performance of the previous models. After all this is a heavy car which hasn't substantially changed its engine since 2009. Still as an SUV I don't doubt that it would have no problem keeping up with traffic. Admittedly as I've worked the past thirteen years in a Kia dealer I'm a bit biased toward the product as I have not only seen the best and the worst of the marque up close and personal but I was fortunate back in 2011 to have had a tour of the factory in Seoul and have seen the standards they uphold in their manufacturing processes. Overall they are at the very least the equal (or in some cases superior) to their Japanese and European competition. Anyway if you prefer a sportier car with snappier performance you don't want a two tonne SUV anyway, you can always get a Stinger. 😂
Thank you for watching the video. Wow I was surprised to read such a long comment. So you do have a lot of story to share with Sorento and Kia. You even worked as a Kia dealer and have even visited Seoul. :) I am Korean myself, but I was always Japanese car enthusiast because they manufacture such toy like cars to play with. I currently own 2001 Honda Prelude M/T and it is so fun to drive. On the other hand, What Korean Car Manufactures(Hyundai and Kia) try to output is somewhat different from European Competition and Japanese Competition due to our cultural background. Korean men like to show and possess something luxury, convenient and comfortable. They are nice, but different types of NICE compared to European and Japanes Competition. But one thing for sure is that the performance on engine and tranny is definetely getting up there and I am pretty sure you will agree with me on that . Even my mom who has purchased 3 generations of Sorento in a row is highly satisfied with them and tells me it is getting better and better each generation. Oops, I ended up replying too long :) Thanks for sharing your idea with us!!!
Thanks for watching the video. It might be because I had drove Genesis GV80 before I test-drove the new Sorento. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really reach my expectation. Maybe my expectation was too high? lol However, it is a great car overall!
Hi bro, Im looking for Korean cars to buy. Whats your opinion of Kia k5 dl3 1.6 tgdi? Also very slow acceleration? What about transmission output? Thanks in advance
Thanks for watching the video. K5 in Korea right now is so popular and I hear that people have to wait a few months to get it. I have never tested K5 personally my co-editor El has test driven it. It is reviewed in Korean, but watching it might give you an basic idea on K5. You should try watching it :)
I don't understand Kia's design approach. The car has a lot of lines, shapes etc. On the other hand, the designers have also chosen to hide the rear wiper. The reason of hiding rear viper is to create less cluttered design. In that case, it doesn't work sufficiently.
Thanks for watching the video and sharing your idea with us. I am sure that the designers must have tested if the rear wiper works sufficiently enough. Who knows? It might be the best rear wiper ever or vice versa :)
Would love to have the combination of the Sorento exterior with the GV80 interior. Front of the Kia looks excellent, I fully agree. But air vents in the dash, the piano black plastic and the small screen are not state of the art for this class.
@@카티 In india we have kia seltos and kia carnival both became instant hit soon after launch.. kia took the indian market by storm they sell in great numbers. their design looks absolutely good and its feature packed too so every one loves it.. hope kia brings rest of the models to india soon.. especially sorento
I am glad people in India like Kia and I am proud that Kia is selling well as a Korean man. I am sure they will export or manufacture more if demand is high in India. I just hope they continue to make good long lasting vehicles that people can drive safely without too much headache :)
Great review. The 2021 sorento exterior design looks elegant and yet solid. However, I don't like the way the rear seat collapse, it's looks and feel cheap by pulling a strap, they should make an automatic button like for the middle seat at this day and age. Unfortunately, it sounded like power wasn't there either, come on Kia. In my opinion, if the price is moderately cheap than I might get one.
Thank you for watching the video. As for the rear seat, yes it would be much nicer if they had automatic buttons like, but oh well it didn't. It may look cheap, but it gets its job done and is practical. That's how I would put it. Also for the power, I believe it was because it was diesel, not gasoline. I am sure the Gasoline model has more power and better acceleration. Your comment was a lot identical to how I felt about the car :) Thanks for sharing your opinion!!
Terrible mistake putting gloss black finish around buttons, worse place you can put it. It'll get dirt and scratches like crazy, the interior will not age well. Is there an option to change it?
Hey "TheMichaelRN" Thanks again for watching the video. You're right. It looks nice when it's new and in the beginning, but it gets all different types of scratches and swirl marks. I am not so sure if there would be an option to change it. I highly doubt it. Thank you again!!!
Thanks for watching the video. To be honest, plastics are just platics. It all depends on how fancy they make. Mercedes are more expensive so it should be nicer than Kia, but you know what? they are all plastics afterall :) The metal parts outside the car are not bad at all in quality wise, but I still don't know why they have added chrome pieces on the 3rd row window next to the C Pillar
Nice review, I think comparing to specific SUVs would help with what your standard for good acceleration is. Unless your suggesting it's slower than all of them 0-60.
Thanks for watching the video and sharing your opinion. You are absolutely right. I just started reviewing cars and didn't have many cars to compare with. The only car I tested before Sorento was Genesis GV80 which was 3.0 diesel and that's probably why the new Sorenteo relatively seemed a lot slower. Thank you for sharing your idea!
What do you expect driving a diesel? It’s not a sports car. Acceleration and diesels in big SUV cars don’t really go together. The petrol models will be where the acceleration is I suspect. Nice vehicle...be nice to see it soon in Australia. Good review.
Thanks for watching the video. A few of people who have test drove the car said that acceleration of it wasn't so bad. Yes, I was expecting too much when it is diesel. :) If I want something fast, I guess I should drive a gasoline ^^
you remind me of my korean roommate back 20 odd years ago. He taught me how to cook ramen (gotta crack and egg) and got me hooked with tteokboki and gimbab. dragged me to noraebang too. Where did you study in the states? anyway great review!
Thanks for watching the video. You sound like my friend too because I taught my friends how to cook korean ramen and introduced tteokboki and gimbab I studied in Balitimore, MD back in the days and I have been living in Korea since 2001. :)

Thanks for watching the video. My mom also has only purchased Sorentos for the past 2 decades. She is an artist and said it is very functional, spacious, practical and long lasting. I am sure you are very happy with it!!
@@카티 absolutely. Zero issues, still looks stylish and I was rear ended by a Toyota, the Toyotas hood was crushed badly (driver was ok only minor injuries). The Sorento? Just a cracked bumper and spare wheel detachment. Looking forward to replace it with the new model in a year or two.
Thanks for watching the video. What I tested, unfortunately, was 2.2 diesel. The price of gasoline is relatively expensive here in Korea, so people tend to drive diesels, but I am sure, like you said, it would be so much more fun to drive a V6
Thanks for watching the video. We are glad you liked the review. 2021 Sorento was really good to drive and I really liked it. We have another Sorento review coming up very soon. Maybe you should watch it before you make a decision. :) About your Post Script, are you saying I am adorable? hahaha really? No one has ever complimented me that way lol Maybe you are referring Sorento as "you" because the new Sorento is adroable! :) :) :)
Thank you for awesome review If your kid press a second row seat fold button and someone set on this seat would it fold or it will detect that someone setting in second row and would not work.
Thanks for watching the video! I understand what you are asking, but unfortunately, it didn't have any sensors to detect if anyone is on the seat or not. I believe it would still fold.
This cars front looks amazing. Rear is also quite good. Side view with that rear window decoration, not good. Suggestion: Change that air vent grid design, it looks unbearable to me.
Thanks for watching the video. I personally love the desgn of the exterior. I think it is far better than all the Sorentos that Kia has produced till now. :) I wonder how much greater it would be in the near future!
I've watched quite a few reviews on this car so far, including the gasoline engine and hybrid. This is the first that I've watched with a diesel engine, and the first with a complaint about acceleration, in the others, they all said that the acceleration is quite good, so it's the diesel, not the Sorento in general.
Thank you for watching the video. I totally agree with your opinion and the review is completely on personal feeling and taste. People and friends around me actually liked the acceleration, but I didn't. Maybe it's because I got heavy foot :) It surely is a great car!
Thanks for watching the video. It really depends on the trims you want, but it looks like it goes about to 40m won(before tax, registration) auto.naver.com/car/main.nhn?yearsId=137251
Thanks for watching the video. You're absolutely right. Perhaps I was expecting too much from 2.2 diesel. Maybe it is because I had driven 3.0 diesel a few weeks back(GV80), but as you said, driving a gasoline will solve everything. The problem is that the price of gasoline is twice expensive here in Korea than in the States. :(
Thanks for watching the Video. I am not exactly sure what you are asking by the "top range" and if it is any differ in the U.K Sorry, I cannot answer to your question.
Driving in the US you need great start acceleration to merge into busy and fast traffic. You don't want to cut in front of other drivers and slow them down. A low power car can be a safety hazard on the road.
Thank you for watching the video. I totally agree with you, but the acceleration was slow to my standard. Watching some of other reviews(Korean) on RUclips, the acceleration wasn't so bad to them. I guess it is different from people to people. The test car I drove before New Sorento was Genesis GV80 (3.0L Diesel). Maybe that's why it felt relatively slower?
Thanks for watching the video. The following link shows how much they are sold here in Korea(Before registration & Tax) auto.naver.com/car/lineupPopup.nhn?gradeId=137983&yearsId=137251 It is only for 2.2AWD Diesel Model. There are 4 trims - Trendy, Prestige, Nobless and Signature It will be anywhere from 27,000USD to 35,000USD(again this is before registration & TAX)
Thanks for watching the video. I meant the exterior and overall evaluation. GV80 is a lot better in everything we all know that(I still cannot get used to the exterior though :)) but realistically it also costs a lot more than Sorento. If money isn't the issue, GV80 is the one we should purchase, but as u know we should purchase a car on our budget. :) Personally I like the exterior of Sorento a lot better, but everything else GV80 wins. Of course, this is only my personal taste. Thanks for sharing ur idea!!
Thanks for watching the video. The 2021 Sorento is really awesome, but you know what? The 2021 New Sorento Hybrid was even better. The review will be uploaded very soon!
@@theG-reek-Cy1riot79 To my knowledge, no market in the world gets the 3.8 for the Sorento. Most markets that get the gas model, have the 3.3 as the top engine. I suspect that UK shoppers will have the same as options as we get here in Korea; 1.6T Hybrid, 2.2D, and the new 2.5T gas.
Thank you for watching the video. I loved everything about 2.2diesel model except the power output from the engine. I am sure hybrid would be a lot more fun and efficient to drive!
Thanks for watching the video. You're right! The seats have gotten thinner compared to the previous model and lowered in position, which gives people sitting in the back more space.
Maybe you shouldn’t have spend 5-7min of the review just criticising how slow it accelerate. By the way This is a 7seater family suv! You are not going for a race after all with an suv like this. Good review nevertheless👍🏼
Thank you for watching the video. I wasn't really complaining but it may have shown as if I was :) Before driving the new Sorento, I test drove Genesis GV80 3.0. Maybe my expectation was too high to Sorento because I really loved the design here and there throughly. As you said, I am not going to race in a SUV lol It's just that I expected a bit too much kekekeke Thank you for the support!!

Thanks for watching the video. 3rd generation Sorento adapted the "Active Bending Head Lights" for sure. However, the MQ4 didn't adapt the Active Bending. The video was filmed during the date time so I couldn't check if it had the Active Bending, but checking the KIA homepage, it didn't say anything about the Active Bending, but the Projection LED Headlamps.
Hello Jose, thanks for watching the video. I don't know if Kia exports or manufactures in India. Hopefully they do! You must have liked it to say it would become a major hit! :) Thanks for the comment and don't forget to support us!
Thank you for watching the video and sharing your opinion. I think downsized engines are what's popular these days. I personally like drinking Natually Aspirated engines, but cars are getting better and advanced everyday. I am even surprised that Korean cars (Hyundai and Kia) are so much better than before and now they have no problem competing with luxury german motors as well.
Thanks for watching the video. The acceleration is purely based on my personal feeling. It's not bad afterall considering it being 2.2 diesel. Hopefully the price is reasonable in Australia. Nobody likes getting ripped off :)
Yes, I agree on the interior trim. But it's a fair bet that all we in Oz will get is black trim across all variants, regardless of exterior colours. It's high time black is excluded from all luxury variants, no matter what make of car. Beige/light tan/cream leather trim is synonymous with luxurious interiors, giving an air of spaciousness, whereas black will always be associated with a closed in feeling, hot in summer, highlights dust, and a right bitch if you drop small items/coins, even in daylight, then using a flashlight to find it...

Is this diesel or petrol? My sister is discouraging me to get a diesel but it’s the only sorento offering in New Zealand. What do think? Any input?
Great review! Compared to the outgoing (US) model with a V6, what will the towing capacity be on this new model?
Thank you for watching the video.
I tried to find out the towing capacity everywhere, but unfortunately I wasn't able to find it yet. We are still trying to find it out and will let you know as soon as we get it. Thank you!

Great review, please what is the price of it in Korea , because it's didn't arrived yet in our country Iraq. Thanks alot..
Abdul...In Korea, this starts at 29 million won and goes up to 48 million fully loaded.
Oops, I ended up replying too long :)
Thanks for sharing your idea with us!!!
I am driving carnival 2.2 diesel ypkx 2017 the acceleration is fantastic. Not sure why sorento feels underpowered. Same engine?
Thanks for watching the video. It might be because I had drove Genesis GV80 before I test-drove the new Sorento. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really reach my expectation. Maybe my expectation was too high? lol However, it is a great car overall!
Nailed the review Sir. 👏
Thank you for watching the video.
Hopefully it was informative :)

Great review!
Thank you for watching the video. Your comment helps us make better reviews!
I think you forgot to turn the stop go mode. It makes a difference for beginning acceleration.
Thank you again!!!
how are the plastics and metals in the car? compared to mercedes or older kia? they look good on video but touch is another thing
Thanks for watching the video. To be honest, plastics are just platics. It all depends on how fancy they make. Mercedes are more expensive so it should be nicer than Kia, but you know what? they are all plastics afterall :)
The metal parts outside the car are not bad at all in quality wise, but I still don't know why they have added chrome pieces on the 3rd row window next to the C Pillar
Very good review..well done

Nice review, very thorough.
Thanks for watching the video, Steve. I hope the review was helpful to you!!

Great job! I just found your channel. Looks like a nice upgrade to the 2016 if you can get a V6!
Thanks for watching the video. What I tested, unfortunately, was 2.2 diesel. The price of gasoline is relatively expensive here in Korea, so people tend to drive diesels, but I am sure, like you said, it would be so much more fun to drive a V6

I love this video. Can you guess how much korean price? My boss (sajannim) have kia 3rd generation sorento. I also compared it. Wow amasing.
Thanks for watching the video. It really depends on the trims you want, but it looks like it goes about to 40m won(before tax, registration)

I wouldn't think you would expect reat acceleration with a diesel engine. The V6 will solve that problem
What's the top of the range sorento and does it differ in UK
Thanks for watching the Video.
I am not exactly sure what you are asking by the "top range" and if it is any differ in the U.K
Sorry, I cannot answer to your question.
P Lee...Don't worry. You guys will get the 2.5T. Lots of power and torque
In the USA we will get a nice turbo engine option.

I like this car too but it is BOLD to say you like this over GV80.
Personally I like the exterior of Sorento a lot better, but everything else GV80 wins. Of course, this is only my personal taste.

That interior is the bomb!
Thanks for watching the video. Even though some people did not like the interior, I think it is not bad at all. :)
The car of year
Thanks for watching the video. The 2021 Sorento is really awesome, but you know what? The 2021 New Sorento Hybrid was even better. The review will be uploaded very soon!
In America it should be offered with the Telluride's 3.8 liter v6.
Thanks for watching the video.
3.8L on new Sorento should be more than awesome!!
The US will get a 2.5T.
@@카티 3.8 LITER V6 is that top of the range for the sorento and can I get a 3.8 litre V6 IN THE UK....?
@@theG-reek-Cy1riot79 To my knowledge, no market in the world gets the 3.8 for the Sorento. Most markets that get the gas model, have the 3.3 as the top engine. I suspect that UK shoppers will have the same as options as we get here in Korea; 1.6T Hybrid, 2.2D, and the new 2.5T gas.
Great review thank you! I'd go hybrid.
Thank you for watching the video. I loved everything about 2.2diesel model except the power output from the engine. I am sure hybrid would be a lot more fun and efficient to drive!
The space isn't bigger the seats are just smaller.
As you said, I am not going to race in a SUV lol It's just that I expected a bit too much kekekeke

whats the estimated price please?
koopi123...In Korea, it goes from 29-48 million won.
Too bad there is no more V6 for this mid sized SUV The CAFE standards are killing them. 4 Cyl turbos are not great long term for these heavy vehicles.
It is a 2.2 Diesel. Diesel is not quick exceleration. Gas is better. Too much complaining about diesel that has good torque. You expect too much.
Thank you for watching the video. The car I tested and review before Sorento was GV80. Perhaps, that's why it felt relatively slower. :)
This comes to Australia in July. I hope they fix the acceleration. I also hope we have the cream/brown interior. But Australia always gets ripped off.
