Your focus on ergonomics makes this massage therapist super happy!
Please have an interview with charles dowding =) i would love to know both of you discussing different climate zones and different ways of doing things.
i love your videos. you sound so much soft speakin and well mannered guy :) nice content
A classic video from Steven ! I just love the way he passionately explains everything in detail, the reasoning behind it and what do plants like ! Much appreciated from India Steven !
I’m able to grow almost year round here in Florida and my goal is to start seed every 1st Sunday of the month. So much knowledge n this video. Thank you!
god bless you for making this video ❤️
Thank you for this. I want to try soil blocks but all the videos I have seen make it so complicated. I believe I can do it with your method.
Another way to mark trays as to what's in em, is to write on the tape numbers or letters, then in a note book write down what's in flat ---- ( have to pick a number or letter or name for the flat and also put that on it somewhere ) and in rows____ , and can then also do " Row A :1- 4 is black cherry tom. ; 5-10 is Amish paste " for example , within the row . Of course then u need to be careful not to lose the notebook or get it wet or full of soil smears... :) . But this has been my go-to method and been working great for the few flats I've started most springs, as a home gardener ( I tended to direct sow everything possible, to avoid damping-off & hardening-off issues I've struggled with too often ) but that will change some as I plan to start more, sooner, for various reasons after we move onto our new place soon. Also, for anyone else not wishing to patronize Amazon as much as possible, I got my soil blocker from a seller on E-bay. Said it was a licensed seller of them for the maker & was well reviewed. I have it now, no problems, and have used it successfully once so far - so exciting !!! Also, thanks Steven & hope you guys are doing very well since your move !
Excellent detail, I use your soil block recipes all the time. My comfrey is coming back now and can't wait to make some tea using your method. Keep up the great work!
Great video!
I just had to do the maths on the germination rate and I'll leave it here if anyone cares.
Your probability of successful germination of at least one seed for a plant with 88% germination rate and using 2 seeds is 100*(1-(1-0.88))^2. ^ represents the power operator, so in this case is power 2 or the number in parenthesis squared. The end result is 98.56%, definitely good odds! using 3 seeds would result in 99.8%, so I agree that 3 is likely an overkill.
Keep it up!
Thank you for the videos. I live in KS & was worried I hadn't started my seedlings. I checked my zone, which is 6a, so I am good to go. I'm entering my 2nd year of gardening, your videos are helpful to me & I tell my other friends to watch & learn.
Nice Clista, hope you have a wonderful 2nd season! Thanks for sharing!
Steven you are awesome. Thanks for making such great videos.
It's that time of year again. Look forward to this year's content 😁
Anyone else reminiscing about mud-pies from childhood?
Thanks so much for sharing! Your channel is the best!
Welcome to TN! Looking forward to see how you grow here.
Thank you for teaching me to farm
This was great Steven! So many helpful tips! Thanks friend!
Thanks Wild Rebel glad you enjoyed :)
I really enjoy your videos. You have a wealth of information and I love your enthusiasm for gardening/homesteading and freedom to live life of your own choosing.
This is such a complete and easy to understand video! Thank you!
Thanks for the great advice!. I need to get my backup seedlings going. :)
I always like to plant out first of April. Sometimes I get away with it, sometimes I get a frost kill.
Thanks for being so informative. I've been trying to learn but I appreciate the detailed description of what to do!
Very encouraging!
This video is so helpful! Thank you for all your tips!
I actually made my own bio char the other day and it turned out great! I am chomping at the bit to start my garden, but it has been below zero at night.
Great video, i followed your dry potting mix but added too worm compost
I've never had luck with plug trays, soil blocks have been perfect every time. I think for me its the depth. Soil blockers have the dibble that makes the same depth every time. Just started sucession seeds today and am trying plugs again. Will see how it goes.
This is the very best seed mix! Love that you are sharing everything on how to grow seeds with all of us.. Thank you for taking the time to post all the sites for buying! WOW! what a great worth of knowledge we have in Steven. His videos are fantastic!
just purchased a soil blocker thanks for that it helps alot!
Thank you SO MUCH for making these videos!
Thanks for this!
Outstanding demonstration...I can tell that you learned the hard way, by the way you have streamlined the process. Great job, helpful to me as a 4 year gardener!
Great video man, thank you :)
Great info! In 1 of your videos you mentioned 800ml pots but I can't locate them. I did blocks from 1 1/2 pvc and want to go bigger when the time comes. Thx much.
Great job.....
Great channel!
I recycle used window mini blinds, just cut the strips into short pieces for plant tray markers. Just write on each one.
Nice good tip!
Great nice very instructively 👍👍
We are building the greenhouse.
The foundation is in place.
I can't wait for it to be finished :-)
How's your work going?
@@jakubmika6433
We cannot finish it, because we are missing a lot of aluminum profiles to put in the poly carbonate plates.
Now emailing the seller to get the missing parts.
And it is quite frustrating.
Because they want us to indicate which parts we are missing based on the construction drawing.
But that picture is very unclear.
Didn’t realize my horticulture teacher was making a propagation mix. Starting my garden and wishing I paid a little more attention in that class lol, but your videos are so great and informative thank you.
My biggest problem is having to start indoors because its below freezing outside, but I dont have enough space/light indoors to start my seeds. We live in a tiny house.
Thank you .
Thank you - Subbed
I make compost from my rabbits’ droppings and wasted hay! It’s so easy. The only thing is that I can only find organic pellet feed, not hay... I will have to figure out something! :)
I found organic hay by Oxbow and Blue Mountain, both on amazon. :)
It took forever for my basil to germinate last year lol but patience I recommend as well
That looks like good stuff the mushroom compost I found was pretty much sand pretty un impressive unless u needed the texture
Ya it seems the quality can vary a lot. I was really happy with this stuff, biology looked good under microscope.
If you need compost fast, it can be done rapidly with the 18-day system!
Thank you Steven for timely reminders. Not sure where in Tenn you are but tune into Ryan Hall Ya'll on youtube for weather info, he has it going on and is saving lives. A concerned sub and looking out for your safety. 👍💚
Thank you for the excellent and informative video!. Could you please share where you purchased the mushroom compost? I’m in southeast Tenn
It was just a guy I found on Facebook but he lost access to that mushroom farm. Apparently they switched to only allowing huge semi trucks to take away loads and not smaller guys otherwise I'd hook you up. I haven't looked for another since I have such a stockpile and make my own.
San Diego planting zone 10b checking in 🌱👩🌾🍅
If I reuse old 102- trays with soil blocks do I need to put drain holes in them?
Great video! What are you using the yarrow for? Have you tried using it as a biodynamic preparation?
Beneficials, pollination, beauty and great as a liquid fertilizer.
Thanks for the video. I’m in San Diego. Where did you find that cow/rabbit compost?
I got the same question.
He lives in Tennessee now
👈👈👈 Also in San Diego and would like a good compost connection around here. Many thanks!
@@n-richedacreshomestead6348 yes, but he mentioned that he had a good compost connection here in SD...
Was just gonna ask the same.. I'm in Pine Valley, San Diego County
If you're using JADAM and KFN processes, is the Azomite, Kelp, and Fish fertilizer still recommended?
I was going to try using the JNF, LABS, and FPJ. Thoughts?
Being in between 10a and 10b I’ve been able to doing pretty much anything and things just grow. Makes me want to stay in the Bay Area 🤔
Could someone more professional &/or experienced than I , add some tips for ways to avoid the just-planted trays from drying out during the day while your away at work or something ? The things I know are for them to be out of direct sunlight ( esp. for those which don't need light to germinate) , cover with a humidity dome/up-turned plastic bin , or a layer of that garden frost-protection fabric laying over it all. That or boards for carrots in the garden.
Where in San Diego can we get the rabbit chicken manure?
I live near Chattanooga where can I get some Mushroom compost?
Most garden seeds germinate best at 68 °F
I'm in San Diego and would love to know where you got your compost from here for 35$ a yard. Please let me know

Have you checked out the Epid Seed trays from Paperpot/epic gardening? They are very similar to the Winstrip trays but in 6 cell trays instead of a 72 or whatever the Winstrip is. And anything Diego makes is super high quality as well
Those look great!
@@NaturesAlwaysRight they really are!
Who's your compost connection in San Diego? Also what different business licenses did you need to sell from your farm in San Diego?
Please tell us where to get the same watering wand. Thank you.
Here's the one I used in the video, amzn.to/3fEs5vr
the soil blocks seem too close to each other, dont you lose the air pruning effect like this?
Where did you get your compost in San Diego?
👈👈👈 Also in San Diego and would like a good compost connection around here. Many thanks!
are you still using this method or just using the seeder now?
What kind of gloves are you wearing?
Who knew Fernando Alonso was a gardener!
Dude.. save yourself the expense & hassle & just use finished compost sifted through your 1/4" screen--it is all your seeds need for starting. Put your $ into your planting bed as that is where your plants will spend most of their time.
p.s.: depending on your compost, you may need to add a bit of nitrogen to your pile (this is common in hot climates in southern US locations). You can do that with fertilizer, manure, or even urine. Given that you have pigs, I'd just compost their manure in your compost pile. Chicken manure works great too!
Why do my seedlings in my soil blocks keep damping off? Is it the compost in using?
try covering the blocks with a thin layer of perlite or vermiculite and see if that cures it
Hi.
Hello 👋
you should get a concrete mixer. less physical labor.
That plug tray has a poor design with no bottom. I would think everything would easily wash out or fall through. I thought about soil blocking, but realized they would be to fiddly considering I have tons of tray inserts that I reuse for years at a time. Some might think this is heresy, but I think perlite offers no benefit other than being a filler. I found some really sturdy trays at Lowes before they sold out. They were made for plantation products by Landmark plastics, but they like to hide that fact. It always makes sense to use a web tray under all 10x20 trays to protect them and give more support.
Ok, why is a bag of perlite that only covers 4 cubic feet cost 50 bucks? some places cost 44 bucks but still. Why is it so expensive? All it is is styrofoam balls?
I just received my 'Grow your own food.' Tee shirt a day or two ago... How about making one that says 'Green Lives Matter!'?
Your eyebrows. Determinate or indeterminate?
