The Celebinator I think is based off of Perez Hilton. Tony Prince is based off of Steve Rubell, the co-owner of the former Studio 54 nightclub. There’s documentaries and movies about the late 70s New York club scene, And about him and Ian Schrager had the hottest club in Manhattan, But a lot of decadent stuff went down in there. Open public sex as well as drug use, they didn’t serve alcohol, but they had bartenders who served in their underwear and shirtless. The club made about $3 million in 1978, but they pay the IRS a measly eight grand, Rubell couldn’t help but run his mouth about all the money he was making. So they raided his apartment, and found Hefty bags with large sums of money hidden in the ceiling panels. Then, they ran through the ledgers he had, found a gram of cocaine, the detectives had a field test done, And sure enough, it was 100% cocaine, and Rubell and Schrager had to close in 1979 1980, and were off to prison. The popularity of studio 54 was made in part of catering to celebrity entertainers and who’s who’s, famous celebrities like Stallone, Cher, Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart, Halston, etc.
