This is awesome. I was the guy getting pulled on the skateboard by my friend. Selling stickers and looking for a ticket. I'll have to share this with her.
@@mishima611 I don't have a family member named Shannon, but knew someone from OH named Shannon, and considered him my brother. I wish I knew how to contact him. I did spend time in VA and a lot of other places while on tour.
He was waiting for his ride when they told him to leave he politely said it's my friends truck and when he gets here we're gone but they weren't having any of it
My first show was Greensboro N.C. early 80 82 or 83 still in highschool. Young deadheads. I was in the black T-shirt with the white piece sign I ordered out of the back of rolling Stone now it's Billy strings
Absolutely. They Harmonize so well. When I hear them doing this I wish that My Dad was alive so I could have turned Him on to it. My Dad was a Barbershop Quartet Singer from the 60s and 70s and He would always sing and harmonize when the would practice on Tuesday nites. Great memories for Me. I remember he would get Me and My older Late Brother Michael ( A Huge Beatles Fan ) to Sing the Beatles song , “Something “ and do the harmony part in our kitchen. A memory I cherish to this Day. God Bless them All. 🙏
Sweet stuff, so awesome to be able to see those long ago times once again...man there was nothing like a super cool lot scene to get you totally stoked for the coming show. Thanks for sharing
@@johnjaco5544 lol I'm sure, but its difficult for someone who was 2 years old in 1969 to get to the show so I'll have to blame my parents for not being dead heads, lol. Have a Grate day my brother... we can't stop that train so we gotta let roll on. Peace

The Dead used to play the Henry Kaiser auditorium in Oakland just about every year. The Deadheads would come early to camp out, trash the neighborhood, then leave without bothering to clean anything up. So much for peace, love and understanding.
That's how it ended up but that's not how it started. When the TV cameras showed up in 86 I told Mr. Willie, this will kill it. He looked at me like I was crazy but three years later no more Dead shows at Kaiser. But hey, it sold commercials!
@@jimpowell6789 that's the same story over & over it seems.. too much exposure to the outside world tended to bring in too many people who didn't know too fast. The same thing happened with Rainbow Gatherings. They started listing them on MTV's "Top 10 Places to Go This Summer" and that was it.
Shit.... we're all getting old now. Never had such a good time! Sometimes I still dream about it.

04:35 Super cool! You made a sale too.
@@earthshineshadow Yeah that is so funny. The best thing is I do still keep in touch with my friend who was pulling me around. Good times!

by any chance is this Shannon's brother Tony that spent some time in Virginia in early 90s?

I got sober October 6, 1989. Saw GD 1981-1992. ❤️ it. 32 years sober. What a strange trip it’s been. 56 years old and 20 years on Kauai, HI.
I love trying to find my kid self in all these old lot scene video's..lol
Thankyou. Those were nirvana, halcyon days for me. The music just took me away and to be in company with my fellow brothers and sisters
Best days of my life
The Super 8 makes it feel more like 1969.
Let's dedicate this video to Patrick, the UCSB freshman strangled by LAPD at these shows.

Hey man. My first show was Greensboro N. C. In 1989.
I enjoyed this video 👍🇺🇸
Sorry I had to replace the soundtrack using youtube music. Copyright and all that. Use your own soundtrack if you like.

Long ago? Yeah, OK. The scene was over by '73. It was all scripted nonsense after that. Then the second generation posers and junkies got involved.
Love it ! Thanks for sharing this
"Attica!" Just kidding! I was there!( No...not Attica) thanx4 posting this really chill relic!4R4R! Still there in many ways#❄️🌎❄️❣️🤣👌❣️
This is so fun thanks for bring back the memories
Love the 89 bird song
The year I entered the bus...RFK, all that rain, and the amorphous being
Payphones - what a concept.
89 was sublime musically but on a social level that's when shit started getting really weird around the lots with multiple deadheads dying on tour
I was at thIs show. That was a pretty good video !!!
In 89 it was all about the super bright colored tie dye
Very cool
YesAH very kewl ✌🏼😎
I wonder if any of those people ever tried pot
24/7 French toast served out of a School bus!
Thank you best tour year since 1985

Yes to the rabbit ears.
The first set of tie dyes were ones that the kids mom and I made Ralph and Diane

Por qué este video no está en color?
