      it's not erosion, it's surrender. The generation that is taught to not care is the one that is defeated. If people raised their own children instead of letting authoritarian governments indoctrinate them in daytime elementary prisons--i mean schools.... we wouldn't have generations of sheep.

    So there is basically a lack of filtering or processing truth or the cost of filtering truth has now flipped the cost of producing truth. An authoritarian “my truth” is a lot less complex and therefore faster than the liberal version trying to find the “general truth”. So how do you account for that variable without a dystopian ministry of truth while still being competitive to the authoritarian version? Decentralization could be an option.

    There is no equilibrium... policy choices try to patch immediate situations... those policies create temporary solutions and inevitably... a new situation arises. The question is really time scale and who gets to choose.

    fukuyama was obviously wrong - technological change will always lead to fundamental changes in politics, and we need to keep fighting to ensure that whatever comes next is still free enough, if not freer
    markets will one day be either obsolete or unrecognizable (i.e. just exchanging of energy and raw matter) as automation makes fewer and fewer things scarce - either we should accept that some things are limitless now (like allowing free copying of information), or the alternative is violently enforcing scarcity (like sending people to prison for piracy - which is just sharing numbers)
    which one is more freedom-preserving?

    why dont eth devs and community spend time creating product market fit instead of wasting brain power on rubbish. Decentralisation is priority, but at the same time applaud and push the ETF?? ETH community are confused and going through identity crisis. Is all this to replace the deflationary catalyst that has now been squashed? ETH is moving in the same direction as Cardano now....really not sure this will end well.

    I've been saying for years: we just to need to pick a direction. This episode reminds me of that. It's not just that we're floundering because it takes us longer to decide, it's that allies as well as enemies are proactively using information to keep us off balance. My only hope is that we're the bleeding edge of this conflict. Nature always finds a balance, which implies we will evolve first, ahead of the authoritarians. The next few generations will grow inside this tension and they will either develop immunity or we will all be lost. Also, it follows that the arguments here are why blockchain technology is the most dangerous technology maybe ever, more dangerous than even AI. But, possibly, also the most liberal ever.

    • @IRLC
      @IRLC 3 месяца назад +2

      That feeling you have that we just need to pick a direction is actually the feeling that pushes you towards selecting a dictator over freedom. Not saying I don’t relate, but it’s not the sign you follow. It’s the warning sign you read and stop before going off a cliff.
