I work on a fair amount of bicycles but have never painted before. I live in an apartment so that is definately a no-go. Perhaps someday idk. Would like to strip a frame somehow and have it powder coated.Good job on the rebuild!
Interesting idea for a crown race setter. I just installed one the other day and wish I had thought about using a big washer. I have the pipe and everything just used a plastic tool for installing.
Lovely build, I still have to find my childhood bike and upgrade it. Here's some notes I took while watching: Oh even the original Giant stickers were really cheap ones.... Give your stickers a clear coat I say. I love the new coulors, they fit the 90s very well. Good call on putting in a ahead-adapter. Lovely chainring. I'd have skipped the Acera RD and looked for the most vintage 8 speed XT or XTR, splash half the budget on the RD I say :D Lastly, I'm pretty sure there are colour-matching bolts for the bottle cages, somewhere.
Thanks my friend for your nice comment, will definitely if I can find vintage drive chain at right price. It seems any nice condition xt xtr stuff is as much as new 11 speed. All the best good luck with the search.👍
There really is something satisfying seeing an old bike get a new lease of life. Did an A-Grade job on this one. Hope you are well my good friend and you are enjoying the weekend down there. If you are out and about make sure you drink plenty, it looks like its going to be a warm one :-)
Thanks mate yeah it came out far better than I thought it would , haven’t resprayed a bike for 20 years the whole process I keep thinking it was a waste of time I didn’t like the colour when the paint dried, but as soon as it was all built up stood back and looked at it was like a butterfly coming out of the chrysalis . Took it out rides great nice light frame feels really good 😊. Love it. Thanks my friend appreciate you commenting hope you have a wonderful weekend all the best.
@@JAYZWORKSHOP I know what you mean mate, that mid stage questioning :-) Its always worth the testing for trial and error and for sure this really did come out lovely. Its got a lot of style and character to it. To add to your collection or for others to really enjoy is both sweet. We do alot of dabbling with our different projects but this one definetly looks like when you see it then it would give a lot of piece of mind knowing you did a good job on it. Well worth keeping an eye for others to do the same, really is great to see it morph. My very best my friend, hope everyone is well and you have had a good one down there :-)
This was a great build! I'm thinking of doing a similar remodel of a 1992 giant rincon a friend gave me. It currently has 26x1.5 tires. Do you think I could fit 26x1.95 on there instead? I'd prefer a all terrain tire as I live around a lot of dirt roads. Thanks!
Great video enjoyed it. Bike came out looking amazing the paint job is very reminiscent of that era for Giant. Why did you not go for V brakes?? Just curious. Cheers

Any idea on seatpost diameter on this frame? What size did you end up using? Thanks.
What size headset did you use? I’m redoing one of these currently
