The fact that Belos killed his own brother and revived him only as a means to serve him over and over again shows how hypocritical he is when claiming witches are evil when stuff like this is 1000 times worse than anyone could do. His “quest” to defend humanity ultimately cost him his own humanity and left him as a monster
That’s why I see Philip and Belos as two separate beings Philip Wittabane was a man who wanted to be a hero in a world vest left in today’s history books Belos is a monster that embodies all of Philip’s own evil Philip died the very moment Belos killed his only friend, only remaining family, his care taker, his older brother Caleb Wittabane

Actually I agree because they appear to have the same features as Belos in some images but if clones that would mean he at one point as an villain engaged in some ancient cloning process, but the clones weren’t as evil or as smart as him as an villain…?!??
They almost give me the same vibe about clone troopers from Star Wars. Even after they died, they weren’t mourned greatly by those they protected and served and were only replaced soon after
It's a real shame we never got a full third season. We could have had a bit where Hunter formed a spiritual connection with the previous Golden Guards and Caleb, which could have been very interesting and dove more into their backstories. We could have seen Evelyn and really had some nice character moments.
I think this works better personally. There’s a horror in the unknown of not knowing what happened to any of the prior guards that fits Belos’s theme so well.
@@zxshadowxzI agree I use to think that “we were robbed of more content” but it makes it more freeing and leaves you more intrigue and sticks in your mind longer. It would have been awesome (yet depressing) if Hunter appeared in the in-between, when he tried to drown Belos, before Flapjack brought him back. The fact that there was SO many more golden guards then even all the golden guards in this video and they all died, most of them Hunter's age or perhaps even younger, is absolutely insane. This is great.

Im pretty sure he wouldve killed people still. BUT a part of me wanted to see what wouldve happened had he gone back to our world trying to call himself a hero? most normal people wouldve assumed he was weird or delusional. probably? we'll never know but I kinda want to
This video is weirdly unsettling. (Not a bad thing because I dig it!) For me it's the unsettling ambience combined with the golden guards' somber faces.... Anorher disturbing thing I found were some golden guards' descriptions. For example: "Guard 27: Killed during a failed prisonbreak from the conformatorium" "Guard 13: Drowned." First of all: all descriptions begin with a word tying to death. Like death was their beginning and their end Secondly: it's brutal how some, much like guard 27, have detailed descriptions while someone like guard 13 don't. Thirdly: I love how they're all just called guard __, it gives off the sense that they were all just numbers to belos but also that being the golden guard was all they knew. Fourthly: having Caleb front and centre was a BRILLIANT choice considering that it conveys how he was the source of their beginnings... Yet also their ends... Might I be spewing crap? Yes. But do I love how morbid some details are? YES! The art as well is gorgeous and the editing is brilliant! I'm glad i found this :D
Guard 13 is particular, since the water in the Boiling Isles is boiling, acidic, to "drown" you need a container of normal water, a container filled by someone... perhaps Philip surprised him in the bathtub and kept him under the surface of the water until the bubbles stopped... Now some context! Then guard 6= Belos: "That was an accident! A strange object came from the human world, how could I know that when used it would throw flames!" Guard 22= Belos: "I thought I'd just whip him... but then I thought the next one would be better" Guard 19= Belos: "That time the grimwalker did everything by itself... no one pushed him or anything, it was his conscious choice... weird" Claeb= Belos: "He slipped 37 times on my knife"
I'm curious about the golden guard before Hunter, who was Darius's mentor and friend. Cause Darius held him in high regard of admiration and respect. According to that memory in the fake hall of memories, Darius looked sad at Hunter's promotion as the golden guard, and Hunter wondered why he looked sad.
Mostly likely because the same day Hunter was promoted was also the same day, that Darius’s Mentor (the previous Golden Guard) died. 🙁 Darius probably only realized a little while later, that His Mentor died at the Hands of Belos. Which is why he chose to rebel against him secretly, by allying himself up with Rain and the Other Rebels.
What I think is really interesting is the implication in the show that, while Grimwalkers can age, the others were all made as adults. Hunter is the youngest golden guard ever, so Belos probably made him younger on purpose so he woukd be easier to manipulate
I like to believe despite them being biologically the same person they're all individually different people with each their own soul and not a soul recycled over and over.
This is absolutely amazing! Even after several minutes I'm still having chills all over. The amazing artwork, the different facial features and personalities of the golden guards, the chilling and powerful descriptions. The ending scene with Caleb appearing made my skin crawl. That was such a powerful moment to see him stand there with the knife above his head; to see him blink and his sad expression. All the golden guards were really well done.
