- Turtles are fascinating creatures that have been around for more than 200 million years, making them one of the oldest reptile groups on Earth. Their evolution is remarkable, having survived through mass extinctions and drastic environmental changes. Turtles are unique for their protective shells, which have evolved to provide defense against predators. Despite their ancient resilience, modern turtles face significant threats due to human activities, including habitat destruction, pollution, and poaching. Today, many turtle species are endangered, highlighting the urgent need for conservation efforts to ensure their survival for future generations.
