Our rankings are so very different 😂 Son of Slappy near the bottom??? there are way worse Slappy books out there in my opinion, lol. Revenge of the Living Dummy and Slappy Birthday both come to mind. Son of Slappy is the best modern Living Dummy entry I've read so far - though I admit I haven't read many of the Slappyworld ones. And how in the heck did Dr. Maniac and Trick or Trap make it so high?? Those books were nearly abysmal, for me, lol Great video bro! I agree that Wanted the Haunted Mask is probably the best. Frankenstein's Dog is also a fun one and has the best cover, I think.
Nice to finally see your ranking video Michael! I’m currently on a hiatus from Most Wanted because they all tend to frustrate me in their own ways. I’m about 9/15 completed, so far I’ve read (and I’ll rank from greatest to least): 1. Zombie Halloween 2. Son Of Slappy 3. Here Comes The Shaggedy 4. Wanted The Haunted Mask 5. The Haunter 6. Trick Or Trap 7. The Lizard Of Oz 8. How I Met My Monster 9. Night Of The Puppet People I still need to read: Planet Of The Lawn Gnomes Frankenstein’s Dog Dr. Maniac Will See You Now Creature Teacher: The Final Exam A Nightmare On Clown Street The 12 Screams Of Christmas Based on what’s left, I don’t have high hopes for this series. It’s most likely going to end up my least favorite of all time. Now, I’ve been waiting and waiting for you to finally get around Hall Of Horrors so I can’t wait to see those reviews! God Bless you Michael, great video!
I got nothing big to say but great video yet again. I really appreciate how engaged you are with your fans and how much you really care. It shows. I LOVE the goosebumps RUclips community. You, completionist, and monster blood are all excellent creators and people.
Hey, Michael. Great video review, and I must admit that the Son of Slappy cover really did catch me off guard, even though I enjoyed reading it to my Nanny. Also, yes Jim Kerry would make an amazing Dr Maniac! 😁👍💯💙
The top few are hard to rank but here they are. This is my least favorite of the series as there's not as many heavy hitters and most tend to waste some solid ideas. That said, here's my rough ranking. MEH: Dr. Maniac Will See You Now (Just sucks, fun idea but gets too jumbled and the stuff with the parents was just sad instead of funny,l the ending is the nail in the coffin, for a goofy comedy it's more likely to make kids feel bad lol, the worst by far) Lizard of Oz (Decent idea that gets explored better in the 2ndf half but it's generic and dad sucks big time) Planet of the Lawn Gnomes (A mess in every way but it's so odd that I like it ironically, I've never known what to make of it, not bad at it at all, more middling but too weird to rate higher but kinda fun) Wanted The Haunted Mask (I don't know why this exists as it is. The stories are okay on their own and the prologue is pretty neat but it feels half assed with the ending being so clunky. There's nothing especially bad in here but as a whole story it just crumbles, feels clearly like stuff smashed together without much thought. Shame, weakest Haunted Mask by far) AVERAGE: Trick or Trap (Weak. Has very little plot despite long so it has a lot of filler. Scott is annoying, writing is off, and while the idea is cool it barely explores it. It gets weaker as time goes on, just feels half assed and low effort for the most part) Night of the Puppet People (I keep forgetting this one exists. I like the turning into puppet stuff but that's the 2nd half, so another one that takes forever to explore a fine idea/. Most of it is just rather dull and generic, gets more fun later on but it can't quite make up for the rest being dull. Not bad but middle of the road as you can get) Zombie Halloween (Eh. I like a lot here and there, the prologue is cool, and Grandpa Mo is a solid character is rather tragic. The problem is the story meanders with a weak subplot with Tevor but the ending could have redeemed it, but it drops the ball with Mo's deal being undercooked. It has creepy stuff going for it, but like most of the special editions it feels too padded. It's just okay) DECENT: The Haunter (Fine. The idea is cool but it takes forever to get to it so the pacing is off despite being a longer book. Still, some creepy stuff in there, some interesting ideas, picks up when the premise kicks in later on and I like the twist. Nothing too bad, nothing great, feels undercooked but it's passable) Here Comes the Shaggedy (Fine, cool idea that isn't fully explored. The setting is enough to make a decent read but it's not a higher tier one by any means. Kelli sucks and the pacing is off but as a whole, it's fine) How I Met my Monster (Another fine one, with an idea that isn't fully explored but it's predictable. Passable. Even the typical twist is fine. Nothing special but it's fine, just a bit wonky at times) GOOD: Frankenstein’s Dog (Typical in a lot of ways and doesn't quite become a standout but it's a solid idea that was done well enough. Doesn't drop the ball too bad, just feels kinda standard and the title is just baffling lol. Still, it's fine, it gets higher as there's not much I disliked per say) Creature Teacher: The Final Exam (Pretty good, easily the most balanced, there's problems but nothing that bad and everything works. Not on the level of the first but it has the same themes which I like. Ending works better. Not a standout but for this series it gets points for being solid) Son of Slappy (Solid, finally a fresh Slappy book after so long. It's flawed and not as good as the premise but the idea here is pretty cool as a nice kid gets ruined by Slappy. The twist is enjoyably cruel but little problems do stack up and make it not as great as it could have been. Slappy's power is cool but doesn't make sense. Could be better but it's good. One of the better Slappy's) A Nightmare on Clown Street (This one was pretty solid, fun and silly with the clown gags and an interesting mystery with a cool villain that has a neat idea tied to him. Mixes some dark comedy in there that I liked. Some parts were contrived and the climax could be better but otherwise it's pretty solid and more interesting than I expected from the start) The 12 Screams of Christmas (Don't have an easy favorite but I went with this as I think it did a better job with the premise than most. It didn't waste the good idea, as the villains were pretty creepy and sympathetic. Even has a nice moment at the end. It drags in the middle and things like that drag it down but overall it's pretty solid and easily on the high end for these) Yeah, pretty different ranking but whatever lol. Not a great series but it has its moments.
I appreciate these ranking videos for the various eras of Goosebumps books. I'm reading the original 62 and enjoying them, but I think I'm going to limit myself with how much I read from series beyond the 90s. Your top three choices all sounded great so I'll be reading those for sure.
So far I read almost all of them I read Dr. maniac will see you now, nightmare on clown street, night of the puppet people, and How I met my monster. I like all of them except one because I haven't read it yet. All the others I haven't gotten yet. So I can't wait to read it. Thanks Michael.
The Most Wanted series is great so far! At least the books I read (which are the first 2-3). I love the way stories are displayed and overall enjoy it. One opinion that isn't really popular but i stick to it is that Son of Slappy was a pretty good read. Also, I would love for Stine to bring back the gnomes in a future book lol. I literally had a marathon watching your videos now lol. I missed out on a lot of them because this was a pretty important and a busy year for me regarding education... Since it's summer am finally back to GB hahaha
I just finished up Frankenstein's Dog wrapping up the Most Wanted series for me and enjoyed it. I feel like its a more gritty and violent series/era out of all the books although it tends to be one of my least favourite series, but i'll rank them from greatest to least. 1. Wanted The Haunted Mask 2. Zombie Halloween 3. Here Comes the Shaggedy 4. Frankensteins Dog 5. Son of Slappy 6. Trick or Trap 7. The Haunter 8. Creature Teacher: The Final Exam 9. 12 Screams of Christmas 10. How I Met My Monster 11. A Nightmare on Clown St. 12.. Dr Maniac Will See You Now 13. Night of the Puppet People 14. Planet of the Lawn Gnomes
@@GiuseppeDeRosa2001 So it’s the fourth book, but it also kind of more of a standalone. I absolutely love it, and it might even be my favorite Haunted Mask book hahah. If you haven’t read it yet, definitely try it out. Just be weary if you’re squeamish, because it’s probably the goriest, grossest Goosebumps book ever 😂
Hey bro i am big fan of u just because you give attention to goosebumps I love the books but i live in India so i can't get many books we indians tick twice before buying thanks for the review😊❤
There is so much potential for the modern Goosebumps books to get its own TV series, and i don't mean what Disney+ is doing, i mean something more along the lines of The Haunting Hour from The Hub, i'd watch it to death and i don't even watch television anymore.
My only real issue with the Most Wanted series is the formatting, with Stine introducing the story. With Slappy World being it's own series, going full Crypt Keeper with the dummy. Makes visiting Stine in his spooky office while atmospheric, just feels now like a beta or half baked idea.

Feeling personally offended that you didn't like the 12 Screams of Christmas lol. I thought the prologue was so eerie. Gave me vibes of "The Ring."

Not a huge fan of Dr. Maniac. But if he’s in the new series and Jim Carrey plays him, it will be great.
Honestly, Dr Maniac could of just been another DCEU movie
In what book does dr maniac is in
“Dr maniac will see you” is the name of the book featuring Dr maniac
I realized he’s not as passionate about this series as he is about the originals… I guess the originals really are just a one of a kind…
There’s definitely some truth to that, even though Wanted: The Haunted Mask is in my top three of all time lol

Yeah maybe the writers of The Haunting Hour could do that
