I remember this really well back in 2020 based in Shropshire! When it turns really dark, the wind suddenly started gusting and saw a great big flash and heard a great big bang!!!💥
So so miss 2020 summer was absolutely amazing for all weather especially thunderstorms!!!! I had about 30 thunderstorms or more that summer here in Warwickshire! This summer has been absolutely shite for storms this year
I would love another 2020, plenty of storms and local too. I didn't have to travel far that year to see them! This year has been the mirror opposite, only a very few storms and all of them have been miles away. I'm hoping for better in August. Otherwise this year will have been one of the quietest I can recall.
The storm in Shropshire the night before was the best I'd ever seen, and I've seen storms in the US and Australia. Considering I have a phobia of thunder, I find storms amazing to watch.
I was just north of Shropshire on the night before. There were some fantastic storms during the August heatwave. Fantastic depending on your view of storms of course 😀
I randomly came across your channel and... I'm impressed with your videos! 😄👍 I'm a stargazer and an astrophotographer, but I'm also a weather and storm hunter too! 🔭🌃🌦⛈ Great video! 👌
Storms were blowing up like crazy from late afternoon and into the evening on that day. We ended up under a big MCS on the Western side of the UK. Where I was in North East Wales (the western side of the MCS) - the storms degenerated into a mass of electrically dead moderate rain while further east where you were things remained a lot more active.
Some of the thundercloud tops on these storms throughout not just August but the start of summer, we’re way exceeding the normal height of the anvils we would normally get here (which I’m guessing is anywhere between 30-35,000ft). They were growing so fast with lightning so bright in the late afternoon and evening that you could see it every second. I presume the tops must have got to at least 45,000ft in a lot of places, because they never ended up flattening out at the tops into an anvil until they started dying out hours later. Lots of bright Red lightning as well. Most photogenic storms in a generation!
It was definitely a loud bang, made me jump! If it was then I think the strike would have been just behind the building I was sheltering under. However, I did not actually see any CG's in this storm.
Very nice video! > Had some epic storms overnight 11th-12th here in Central Scotland. Widely 50-100mm fell overnight , a few places saw 150mm locally. There was approx 30k strikes from the stalled MCS like feature. But lighting continued from 9pm and 06:30 the next day. Never seen anything like it.
There were a lot of very strong storm over Scotland during the early part of the last thundery spell. I saw videos and reports of the flooding. If Scotland was closer I would have been there. 150mm is an insane amount of rain for the UK, no surprise there was flooding.
I'd say the rain went on for about 2 hours, but not with that level of intensity. I cannot find anywhere with rainfall data so I can check how much fell. I'd be interested to know myself.
There have been a few more uploads since this one. But I think it will be next year before I can upload any more thunderstorms now. We don't really get many thunderstorms in the UK outside of May to September, and this year there hasn't been much since the end of July

There were some big storms over the 11th and 12th August 2020, especially around the Midlands 👍

40:40 has a bit of a positivey feel to it, despite the distant flickering after the bright flash

Yeah, that explosive thunder sounds like it was from a positive strike.
These are the type of storm chasing videos I like to watch as I work. It’s always about tornadoes but this is actually just storms
That’s I called severe thunderstorm.
Keep going... I enjoyed watching the rain
Wonderful filming
Excited for new rain video
Love you from Dubai

There are few if any thunderstorms between November and March. I will hopefully be back in April/May 2022 👍
Very nice video!
