Completely off topic but my budgie, Lily, apparently loves your voice. She just sits and whistles so sweetly along with your talking but stops if you stop 😂
Christy, I started binging your lovely videos shortly before you finished Project Teacup, just after finishing a narrative nonfiction manuscript of my own. Our query journeys have run parallel- and your honesty has been such a balm to my heart in the waiting. I had "the call" with an agent last week, and now I am hoping that the same happens for you! I and your other committed viewers believe in your persistance, passion, and skill. The right agent will too. ❤
I love talking about process, and your comment about your notebook was highly entertaining to me! Every time I get a fancy, beautiful notebook for stories, I end up being too intimidated to put anything in it, or too conservative about _what_ I put in it, in case I mess it up! My go-to notebook for starting a new novel is an 80-page, 3x5-inch spiral bound memo pad that costs 80 cents and can fit in my purse! 😅 What a beautiful example of how different writers think differently, and how completely personal the whole journey to find your process can be!
I'm pouring my heart and soul into transforming myself into a full-time content creator and writer. Battling anxiety and fears, the subscriber count may be slow, but I believe in the power of my work and passion to propel me forward. You are one of my profound inspirations. Your authenticity gives hope to aspiring writers like me. Thank you for being a guiding light in this journey.
I just hit 10,000 words in my current WIP, and watching your writing vlogs are always so comforting and exciting! Congratulations on finishing project teacup & for your progress on project spiegeltent!
It’s so funny hearing the name of the project being called ‘spiegeltent’ because originally, it’s a Dutch word and I’m from The Netherlands :) Very excited to see the new vlogs on this project!!
I think it's a Belgian invention, from the Flemish area which is why the name is Dutch. I randomly went down a bit of a Spiegeltent internet wormhole recently. 😂 It sounds like there was quite a lot of fun queerness and gender-bendiness at the peak of Spiegeltents touring Europe in the 20s and 30s. Lots of famous artists performed in them too, like Marlene Dietrich (a queer and gender-bendy icon 😉).
I'm so proud to see how far you've come. I remember following you back when you just uploaded some simple art videos and nothing else, and now you have over 200K. Such a great journey, keep up the good work!
I’m so glad I’ve found your channel this year. I am also a writer (it’s difficult when it’s difficult and it’s fun when it’s fun and it’s easy when it’s easy - I had no idea what to expect starting this journey.) I’m very new to the writing life and your videos are so soothing, inspiring and beautifully done. Thank you for sharing a little bit of your life and projects with us. 🥰

I love drafting while you were in the process of editing only to jump into the process of editing while you're jumping into drafting. These writing vlogs are some of my favorites that you do--so excited to see how Project Spiegeltent goes (that s-pie-gel-tent mnemonic *is* super helpful)
I'm in process of finishing my firt novel and its in first person , so excited, u're videos are so inspiring, you're like a virtual friend sharing same experience
I'm finally committing to finishing my manuscript and have the goal to have it in "pitching" condition by the end of 2024. Your writing vlogs and writing routine videos have been an INVALUABLE resource for me as I'm working on my own craft. Also my LAMY is coming in the mail soon and I am HYPED! tldr: THANKS GIRLIE ILY ❤🔥
It's so refreshing hearing that you mix typing and writing and that the process of writing a first draft does change a lot. I think the mystery of writing sometimes makes things seem like someone just writes a masterpiece outright.
It's the most ridiculous thing to focus on but as a German, catching German words in English terms always trips me up for a moment. (Also Spiegel is *technically* pronounced like the sp is a shp) But I also can't wait to see you on this new journey!
I love it when authors talk about second and third manuscripts. Right now I'm researching and planning the second draft of my horror/dark fantasy novel and I'm enjoying the process even more than writing the first draft. I know the characters a lot more, I know how the story is going to develop and most importantly: Why I want to write it. Sure, writing a first draft can be scary and exciting, you're still just meeting the world that you've created and it's always going to be a little bit weak compared to the evolution of the tale; but in the second draft I find I'm a lot more attached to the characters and overall, writing improves a lot more. Plus, the feeling of nostalgia and missing that world after letting it rest is just extremely powerfull in order to write it better. Good luck with Proyect Spiegeltent!!
I love your videos so much. Your passion for the writers path just always comes thru and resonates. I’m Australian too and enjoying these inward sombre rainy days we’re having here in Sydney too, perfect for novel writing and reading books. I wish it was always like this. I’ve started writing a little circus novel too.
I love that you’re working on a new manuscript, too! I’m doing this, too, especially as I start querying my other novel later this year. Congratulations on that and again on getting a literary agent! It’s so exciting to watch your journey. 💜

This is the kind of work I'd love to be doing full-time but I don't know how to get started. I don't have a lot of subscribers/friends that I can talk about my writing with. the only one i really talk to is my boyfriend
Editing is writing but it's not pulling out that initial thread of story. So I don't count it as writing in the same way in such a situation as doing a vlog about "Writing using the habits of Stephen King" ....because you don't have to sit there and wonder what happens next, because you have the draft there
So, if you use that logic, does it not count as writing if you have a plot outline? I think we all have different processes which are of equal value. All that matters in the end is that you find what works for you personally
@@christy-anne-jones. I assume you're saying that all parts of the process are of equal value, therefore they are all "writing" generally. But by this logic you could have woken at 5 am and done dot point plot outlines for WIP's.... The various processes use a different part of the brain, so waking up early "in the habit of Stephen King" (for example, who writes in one draft) to engage imagination for storytelling a draft is completely different to waking up and plotting or editing, worldbuilding, etc. I think you were referring to me in this video though, when you mentioned it, but I had been referring to the writing habit vlogs specifically, so it was out of context. Anyway....glad to see that you are working on another WIP while querying. I hope you get some good news soon. ✨
@@starklingspars8956 Nope, not referring to anyone specifically. I've gotten the comment a few times. And I think there's a general misunderstanding from a lot of people new to writing that the first draft is 99% of the work. For me, it's only the first 20%. That's my main point. For me, editing is no different to writing the first draft--it's all creative, imaginative hard work. Especially because I rewrote every draft for Project Tea Cup from scratch.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate your support. Take care and all the best with your writing 💛
@@christy-anne-jones Ok not specifically directed at me. I'm not a new writer lol. This draft is book 4 for me, but the second one I'll query. Just for the record. ✨

@@starklingspars8956 No worries. I didn't assume you were. But a lot of people who watch my videos and make the comments I'm referring to are 💛
Where is your Patreon
i'm so happy to see you doing a writing vlog again.
Do you think you could do a J.K Rowling writing routine?

"project teacup had a lot of time to brew" I see what you did there 🫖
