  • Hydro Plunge is a ProSlide water coaster at Great Wolf Lodge Poconos. This was an early Rocket slide, using high speed conveyor belts to push riders uphill. While there are several Great Wolf Lodges across the country, these indoor water parks rarely feature water coasters, so this was a nice treat. This was the first water coaster in the Poconos, but how does it stack up to the newer ones? Find out in this review.

With the water coaster at the Ohio kalahari being retired a few years ago, I can’t help but think if the others in the chain will also be retired

I always loved riding Niagara Rapids Run at Great Wolf Lodge Niagara Falls as a kid. I haven’t ridden it in a really long time so it probably wouldn’t feel the same if I went back and rode it.

I remember that one riding similarly.

With Sixflags New Englands water coaster it hasn’t been open all year so maybe putting those magnetic water jets into the ride. Or just a whole refurb on it.

That could be a solution to give it more uptime and longevity.

If I ask you about Hydro Plunge's final score, Canobie Coaster would say:
So what would I rate Hydro Plunge? I would give this water coaster a 5 out of 10. This is a fun water coaster. It's heck of a lot better than most water slides, but that ranking compares to the other water coasters out there. It has good length, especially for an indoor slide. I also like Hydro Plunge's placement high in the air and a few of the drops are enjoyable. While most drops don't give airtime like newer water coasters, that double down is a really good element. I just wish the uphill ascents were better. I know it's a product of when this slide was built, but it just doesn't hold up compared to the slides built over the past decade.
Compared to the other water coasters in the Poconos, I would take Storm Chaser over this one. That slide is smoother and a bit punchier. But I would definitely take Hydro Plunge over...

Compared to the other water coasters in the Poconos, I would take Storm Chaser over this one. That slide is smoother and a bit punchier. But I would definitely take Hydro Plunge over Anaconda. The latter may have the faster ascents, but...
    A) It has shallower drops giving weaker airtime.
    B) It's bumpy and absolutely no airtime whatsoever.
