  • The state put in new delineators in an effort to help ease the congestion at the intersection of Kamehameha Highway and Acacia Road in Pearl City, a well known spot for traffic. Issues have included the limited time for two lanes to make a left turn and drivers cutting in.

I think whoever put all the shopping centers in one place making that intersection the busiest!! Walmart, Foodland, longs, Sam’s, movies and all the other businesses makes that place busy not to mention Home Depot

The highway isn’t the problem, Americans and other foreigners flooding our shores and doubling the population as well as the “state” allowing one of the busiest shopping center on the island to be built there, is the problem.

There are always cockroaches trying to sneak in at the last minute everywhere, which makes the patient obeying drivers ticked off. Just sit in any rush hour traffic on the Freeway West bound in the afternoon. I sat in every route imaginable route to get home to Kapolei from town and Pearl Harbor snail pace on airport viaduct, Salt Lake, Aiea, to inch past Mililani/Waipahu to Kapolei. The only ones with a harder time were the Nanakuli, Waianae, Makaha, commuters, who had a longer route.

Why not add several U turns before the light. When the light turns green a lot more cars could go to Sam's Club or use the back road up to Walmart.

It's clear. The answer here is rezoning the parking lot for Home Depot and making it two lanes to turn left.

I was at that intersection yesterday and saw the new delineators. I thought, wow, this is cool. Maybe this will make it smoother, and at least cars won't cut me off.
Then, an SUV cut me off before the delineators. I wanted to throw a coconut at the driver.

Lousy drivers in Hawaii cutting in and thinking they have the right of way. They do not have the right of way. I had a driver flip the bird because I didn't let another driver cut in front.

that was Leslie Ws (retired anchor/reporter of KHON and KHET) pet peeve (even mines!).......you show ALOHA by giving the right of way to someone who wants to cut into the lane......AND, they DONT WAVE MAHALO...Thank you!!!!

@Waynes-xt9gr You need to go back to drivers ed. You do not just cut in front of someone. The person cutting in does not have the right of way.

Should have cameras for cars that cross solid line and cut in line so they will get fine.

You're not cutting in at the last minute to get in that lane. There's just not enough lane and too much congestion to begin with. Adding all the extra businesses on that road adds to the problem.

There's the rail stop right there. You can get dropped off either at Aloha Stadium or Kapolei, and then take the rail to that stop. Walk across that highway to all those shops and buy all you want. Then, go carry all those things back to the rail stop and go back to Kapolei or Aloha Stadium. Then, you don't have to deal with all that traffic. Plus you're helping the environment and make the world a better place.

It could have BEEN helpful if HART worked with PHLC (pearl highlands center) and build a bridge or make access to the mall closer that where its at......you notice that hump on Kam Hwy? thats so passengers can come off rail and walk across Kam Hwy safely to walk UP THE HILL to go into the mall. Folks with wheelchairs wont be able to do this!

No going make it worse cause people don't know how to use far left lane. Plus the light take long for change and the left turn only like 20 seconds.

how's about the "designer" who placed those rail stops at locations that passengers STILL have to walk to their stores/shops.
