Wow, don't see these reacted to often, early Floyd is often not an easy listen but for those who do, it is a unique audio experience with psychedelia being a trait of Syd's music. The band just goes into new territory and are part of what made the late 60s such a vibrant time in music. More Pink Floyd please! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥
Not an easy listen for you, maybe. I love it. I find the stuff after WYWH, esp. post Wall 'not an easy listen'. Much of it I find pompous, utterly cynical, joyless, too much like generic 'classic rock', and even boring.
The american release of 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn" includes the great song "See Emily Play" which is a classic. I think it was left off the album because it was released as a single. On "Saucerful of Secrets" there was another Barret song recorded called " Vegetable Man" which is not on the album. It was released years later on a CD called Pink Floyd the Early Years. Interesting that "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" and "Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" were both recorded at the same time at EMI studios...two of the most amazing albums of all time. Great video as usual always love your passion for the music
Really great video. Awesome how you go into each track. Very in depth. I've loved early pink floyd since high school. 1992. Psychedelic floyd has always been my favorite.
Congratulations Amy on a fantastic dissection and explanation of Syd's lyrics and Floyd's musical interpretation of them. This is a video idea of the highest order , and as much as I love and admire David Gilmour , it's Roger Waters' lyrics and your video of his genius that I'll most look forward to. Thanks again Amy. 😍🎵🎵🤘
Wow… thank you so much! I loved making this video, this Pink Floyd Series is so important to me and the most exciting…Pink Floyd especially “Roger Waters” seducing my mind in so many creative ways. I know that sounds bizzare…but all the aspects in his music hit every note and feeling I want to feel in music. ✨🎶🤘🏼 Goodness, what I’d give to hold a conversation with Roger, our minds are so alike creatively, and I wonder if I could take his feet off the ground with my imagination as he could mine ✨🎶 except we all know these conversations would really lead to Philosophy 😁🤘🏼
Hi Amy it was worth the wait i really love this pink floyd video about piper and saucerful of secrets the albums syd barrett was involve in and i love these early albums and beautiful lyric's these albums have thank you for this video 👍🤘❤️
That was great Amy, I have always thought Jugband Blues to be sad, Syd just laying his life bare, you should listen to his solo albums too. You should listen to Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler writes very good songs with intelligent lyrics.
Yes, Syd Barrett solo’s are wonderful. I absolutely adore Dire Straits…I do need to spend some time with Mark knopfler, thank you for the recommendation. 🤘🏼🎶🎶🎵🎶
Chapter 24 was taken from/inspired by chapter 24 of the I Ching. Editing to add that I've always found it interesting when reactors find some of PFs more freeform sections of music creepy, eerie, or scary. I've always heard them as a sort of chaotic creatia or unformed chaos, those base elements of sound that can be morphed or evolved into what we think of as music. Parts of Saucerful of Secrets and the middle section of Echoes exemplify this, for me at least. Not that I don't understand that is the vibe those musical sections can give off, just that I think there's something deeper to the use of them in PFs music. Could have just been my state of mind when listening my first times 50 odd years ago too.
@@Amysvinylexperience amazing! 😻 you must be a big fan of the band and David :) heard Pulse? Their live album. It’s a great live album. Coming back to life has great meaningful lyrics
I love the appreciation for these 1st two albums. I get put off by supposed Floyd fanatics whose favorite album of theirs is "Animals" or "The Wall (or, yeesh, s/thing later), and dismiss their 1st 5 years of recordings. I find those ppl way too into 'serious music' & don't get how they can't appreciate the joy & experimentation of Piper-Obscured By Clouds. Barrett wrote the vast majority of the lyrics on "Piper...", but the music/sound/production was very much a collective act. Waters esp. was key to their sound decisions. Also, it's not pronounced or spelled 'domain'. It's "Astronomy Domine".
Oh my goodness I just explored that album about a week ago…I am just blown away in amazement…I’ve been hooked on this album all week! ✨ Thank is for the recommendation! And thank you for being here!
@@Amysvinylexperience It's a wild ride. "Barrett" is a smoother trip and "Opel" fills in the gaps with outtakes from the other two, including an amazing title track.
We made it through the Hurricane…our house is still standing strong, no damage. It’s the heartache for those who lost everything. It’s devastating…all we can do is love and support the people. Means a lot for you to check in Dean. Thank you!
I wish you had researched this a bit more. There are books that go into details that are too obscure to figure out by yourself almost 60 years later. Some of your guesses are inspired but...wrong. I think you would find the real stories even more fascinating. Truth is stranger than fiction.
Hi, welcome to the channel. Yes, these are my interpretations of the lyrics. But now you have my attention. Any suggestions where I can find that information. It’s so intriguing to explore Syd Barrett’s mind.
@@Amysvinylexperience There are a lot of books to choose from. Note that YT censor bots prohibit me from linking. Hi Amy, don't mean to be that guy but the name of the first track is Astronomy Domine not Domain. Domine meaning "lord" or "master"
