Didn't realise it was an early kick off, missed the game, saw the result, and wasn't actually that bothered that I missed it haha! It was actually quite nice to accidentally come across the result and see that we'd won. Onto the next one.
Performance was grim, result was great... It was so easy for them to play through our midfield... Jones and szobo on the pitch at the same time doesn't work IMO
Half decent away performance, good overall result. Tough to break down Girona's low block, very deep and congested centrally. Don't think I've ever seen Gomez and VVD so high second half, squeezing them and tough to get out for Girona. Gave too many chances away 1st half, gained confidence from hitting us on the break and worked their game in from there. Good game for Ali, some nice saves getting those gloves warm again. Not our best game but job done, stonewall pen 2 fouls in one, left stands on Diaz heel right leg hooks around Diaz, nice pen from Salah. Doing the business takes pressure off now, allowing rotation which will benefit. Onwards and upwards
Agree with you about Allison. Kelleher has been tremendous, but Ali is world class and can just make that difference. Huge presence, makes it look easy. Critical component of a title and European challenge.
The team did not play well today so not surprised that Slot was unhappy with the performance. It was lucky that Alisson was good or else we would have been down early in the game. We need to do better this weekend as Fulham has been playing well.
That performance was nothing to be happy about he knows that's 2 poor performances in a row and that can't continue before you get beat that's why he is the manager that's why it's refreshing to hear this instead of pretending otherwise.
Hi David, Great vlog! We got the job done, they made it difficult, parked the bus at times! as you said the stats speak for themselves. But a win is a win.. Great to see Alisson back! World class!
David. Dave. Dai. Lynchy. I really appreciate your straight to the point factual analysis of the goings on. I know you're in an incredible position to give accurate takes. And thats down to your own dedication and hard work. Believe me, your analysis and oversite is much appreciated and very well received. Real, Raw, Original & Faffless. Eradicate the faff. Sadly he's not even fun anymore, used to terrify teams even if he didn't Finnish..now it's just bland. Real shame. Slott surely has to change his game or sell

I imagine it was a little different behind closed doors but that's not OUR worry!! Cheers DL! 👍👍👍
just saw the highlights.... looked like Alisson needed to make a few decent saves. Not one way traffic... but a great result.... hopefully the next two CL games are for testing some of the squad...
Good result given the performance and circumstance of not being a super important match. Slot was right in being critical but I'll take 3 points all the time. Hopefully we will improve in our performances also.
Arne is brutally honest and I like it! No sugar coating just telling it like it is. That’s the kind of mentality that will make this team improve and become more consistent with the level of performance. Nunez will get a lot of criticism but he had 2 good shots on target, apart from Mo’s penalty I don’t remember him having a shot on target. Ali was definitely the MOTM and probably worked far more than expected. Robbo was a lot better than recent games so that’s a plus. No injuries, 3 points and a clean sheet too! We go again!
Good review as always David, I agree Jota will be best as centre forward with Darwen as backup. Arne not happy with the performance and is happy to admit that m. Much respect as others would give us a load of BS about a wonderful win. It’s a great win from a position in the table perspective but needed to be more aggressive in our approach. 😊
Lads we won. Just take that. Top of the champions league and Premier league. FSG give this man two quality players in January. Another Midfielder and a back. In case of injuries. Looks like we are going to have alot of games.
Poor endeavour but a result that we would always have taken before the match. Nuñez is so frustrating as a player, the lack of goals is a fact, but he works so hard, on and off the ball. Jury is Still out for me. I love that Slot is happy but not satisfied. We must beat Fulham so must improve. Great Vlog David. Thanks for your insight. Bring on Saturday. YNWA.
Its hard for Gomez and Quansah to come in and just perform without a run of games, however I feel since Konate has gone out we have missed him a lot in defensive situations. Quansah is very young and learning, Gomez best position is in the full back spots. A central defender with experience for a loan in January could be a good option. Depending on konate staying fit from January to may is a big risk. Matip experience and quality is a big loss and he was never replaced experience wise last summer. We just need another centre back for cover for the rest of the season. Too risky with the options we have, Gomez and Konate are injury prone unfortunately
Nunez gets all the criticism for his poor strike rate, but Diaz hasn't scored in the Prem since September. Both of them cost us last season at the business end with their misses.
If Diaz is causing trouble and working hard that’s fine but Nunez is not looking great his role seems to be a ball chaser but at number 9 position. If salah is not scoring we will look very ordinary. I think it’s time to move Nunez on and look for an another goal scorer. Jota when fit has a good strike rate but he’s injured most of the time.
The question is would we be better with Dans upfront as a sub. Diaz plays there in big games as well. I feel like Nunez could leave without hurting us to be honest.
Thanks David. For me,yeah, job done, but the lack of atmosphere spoilt it for me,due to not many travelling Kopites in attendance.I just couldnt get into it cos of this?Nice to see Alisson back,,he had a great game.👏👏👏Yeah,we better in 2nd half.YNWA❤🔴
11:38 on Nunez the team cannot afford to carry extra dead weight. We need to win trophys with operating legs. I sound harsh but two and half season is enough time for anyone to blend in .
hey David i have a question and i really hope you can make this more clearer, its about endo and the lack of playing time this season, he has been available all season but despite that he has only played 30 minutes in the pl and cl and questions must be asked, what is the reason for that? don't get me wrong, I don't mean that he should be regular but you have to agree with me that he dont deserve this
Endo's professional attitude is admirable, but I think Arne doesn't feel that Endo fits his system and that is why he's not really featuring this season from the start of games. As long as Arne feels that Gravenberch can do the business as he is doing so far, he will always be one of the first names on the team sheet. That's tough luck on Endo, because he was a solid performer under Klopp, but Arne's style of play is different to that of Jurgen, with the accent on patience and passing. Endo is all heart and tackling, but his distribution is not always the best and he can sometimes get caught in possession in dangerous positions.
Arne wants a ball playing defensive mid. Endo is ball stoping type we bought him because of the urgency to cover fabinhos postion. Liverpool almost always have the ball so the DM must be very good playing pass than blocking passes
Hi mate. It really is a case of the manager not feeling he suits his style. That was made clear to Endo over the summer but he wanted to stay and fight for his place, unfortunately there haven’t been many opportunities. I expect he will leave next summer but Slot could not have been more complimentary about his professionalism and attitude, even if he doesn’t fit what he needs in midfield.
They've lost some of their players to other clubs who did so well for them last season to qualify them for the UCL and aren't the same side this season as a consequence. And they played a low block, tonight, which we have always struggled to break down under our last three managers! Thankfully, Alisson is back and looked like he's going to slot seamlessly back in. He pulled off some trademark saves on his return to action. It's tough on Kelleher, but when Alisson is fit, he is Arne's first choice keeper. I don't think Gerona were negative in the way they played, we didn't allow them to play expansively, especially after we managed to get our noses in front on the scoreboard. 1-0 was enough for us and we just closed the game down.
Hi David, please ask Slot in one of the interviews if can change Darwin Nunez to a leftsided attacker because of his pace, power n directness other than being an outright striker. He flourishes more on the left than the middle. Let him turn Diaz into a a Bobby firminho( he's got the workrate and the trickery) gakpo/ Darwin n Diaz,/ Jota
Regarding Nuñez, I have finally taken to saying that for as long as he has a Liverbird on his shirt, he'll have my undying support. But come the day he leaves the club, I won't shed a tear.
Yes sell him I mean he only held the fort and played great when Allison was injured, but he's now put the door, your loyalty is mind blowing. Hope he goes to a good team who treat him with respect ,because fans like you obviously haven't
David, Darwin is the number 9 for Liverpool. The spotlight should be on him. Loads of effort and commitment but overall into his third season at the club overall he's been poor. Great result though. Up the mighty Reds.
Girona had two opportunities when a player was left completely on their own in the first half. Better finishers would have scored them. So no wonder Slot wasn’t happy, that has to be dealt with before the Fulham game. Didn’t see many shots on target either. The second half was better, I agree.
Not our best performance but a win is a win. Everyone goes in on Darwin, and while his consistency in finishing is frustrating as hell, he never gives up working hard for the team. It's clear that he'll never be that match-winner, but what he brings is that bit of chaos which can makes space for others. When Diogo comes back in, Darwin will be the man on the bench because Diogo is a more clinical finisher. Hopefully, Diogo will be back for the Fulham match!.
I see that the EUFA website have results simulator that generates league table and the bracket stage. Looking at that I agree that the league table is so mixed up the only thing to worry about is finishing in top 8 to avoid extra round of matches. As it currently stands as top ranked team our first opponents in knockout stage would be winner of Benfica vs Atletico Madrid or AC Milan vs Real Madrid. Not sure any route looks easier but my "gut feel" is looking at current simulation would prefer to be 5th or 6th ranked team.
How bad was Trent yet again....I invite you to watch the game again with your "Trent-cam" head on. Potential Ballon d'Or winners simply don't EVER put in sloppy performances like that, let alone as often as Trent does!
Spot on! He wandered all over the pitch, one minute Left back next centre midfield next just behind the strikers, giving the ball away most times to boot. for me he totally de stabilises the team. He's got a great right peg but a head full of magic dust if he thinks that that's team work. He needs to be more disciplined and realise his role is a right back.
Am I the only one who is seeing the lethargy. Old habits of passing to distraction. Hope it’s not complacency. I think we gonna need a couple of additions in Jan. Not 10 as most want, we have a business to run, but one in midfield to cover Ryan G and one in the backline who can play CB and on the left. Fund through sale of Nunez.
They should have plenty of money in the bank to spend. A couple of signings like you suggest would be great. Difficulty is getting your no.1 targets mid-seasom though.
You are right about the parade of passing in front on goal. That signals to me a need to have more direct run on goal and reliance on drop crosses into their box to mess them up.
Abit late to this video but we need our striker to start performing. Nunez especially but jota also hasn’t lit the world up when he did play this season. If Mo has 2-3 games in a row where he doesn’t score I am worried. And 2-3 games can change a title race
And also seeing this game confirms Alisson is the best keeper. Kelleher is an amazing keeper but I’m convinced we don’t concede 1-2 goals we did vs Newcastle if we had Ali in goal
we cannot play the he would or would not have made a specific save. we have the best keeper in the world and a back up who could start on any squad in the world
MOTM was won by Andy Robertson but once again he is highlighted by the UCL and missed out by LFC. TAA was invisible most of the match so obviously you don't want to highlight a good full back when Trent underperforms again. Just like the focus on assists. Robertson was leading until a few weeks ago but since TAA got slightly ahead he gets all the plaudits. I hope Robertson leaves and LFC get the wake up call they need.
Poor performance tbh Darwin looks like he's evolving backwards... Didn't see much of Trent's line breaking passing Winning by PK is not confidence inspiring One positive is that Alisson was great! Didnt miss a beat!
When are we just going to acknowledge that Nunez is just not good enough and should leave at the end of this season (or january). He gives me andy caroll vibes and he played when liverpool were nowhere near winning trophies. Nunez is absolutely horrendous to play for a team that wants to win trophies.
Id ship Nunez out in the upcoming window. The club and Slot wont do that though, they'll wait until the summer but that is going to be costly because our number 9 keeps missing chances, banging it straight at the keeper of laughably, completely mistiming his head. Get rid and stop the flippin' 'Nunez, Nunez' chants at Anfield!
David, are you suggesting that the games against Lille and PSV are just two dead rubber games? No way because the more wins you have in the UCL the more money and revenue the club generates. Let's NOT pretend that money does not matter. I think Slot will try to win these last two group matches and keep up the momentum with a strong line - up
We need a striker, it's all clear that Nunez is not good enough and Jota is not available most of the season, if we get a striker in January we can guarantee the league.
Don’t understand this at all. Reminds me a lot of the Keita situation, another player we weren’t allowed to mention wasn’t playing well. For me, Nunez sticks out like a sore thumb in this squad/team, and it’s very likely he’ll be moved on this summer. There’s not some deeper agenda at play, he’s just not of the level. As I say, though, he can play a role this season and is needed to.
@@davidlynchlfc Of course you can mention a player not doing well but whether you mean it or not you come across more negatively to him than anyone else
@DavidLynch: What - for you personally - has more value: PL title or CL title? And I mean it like: if you played for LFC, what title would you be more happy about to win (not what gives you more money or stuff).
If I was a player, then I imagine I would consider the Champions League the most prestigious of the two. BUT, from my point of view, I’d most like to see them win the Premier League this season. I was one of the very lucky few who was in Anfield the night they lifted it last, but it still feels like such a shame that fans weren’t able to witness it. Putting that right by winning it this year would be amazing.
Hey David, As usual you nailed it in your analysis. 3 highlights for me today: 1) watching the game, 2) watching Arne's post match press conference--talk about a straight shooter, eh? and 3) your wrap up! YNWA.
IMO we should try to make Nunez into a Firmino 2.0. He is not a goalsetter but he is fast, he could press and give good assists. Just take the pressure away from him that he is measured by goals.
What did you make of Liverpool's performance against Girona?
Didn't realise it was an early kick off, missed the game, saw the result, and wasn't actually that bothered that I missed it haha! It was actually quite nice to accidentally come across the result and see that we'd won. Onto the next one.
I was kind of surprised that they didn’t play with more energy. I was hoping to see more goals.
Performance was grim, result was great... It was so easy for them to play through our midfield... Jones and szobo on the pitch at the same time doesn't work IMO
Thought David remarkably sanguine about Nunez. Agree. It's not worked. Useful last twenty sub for rest of season, then farewell.
Half decent away performance, good overall result. Tough to break down Girona's low block, very deep and congested centrally. Don't think I've ever seen Gomez and VVD so high second half, squeezing them and tough to get out for Girona. Love Arne’s criticism in the press conference. He was not happy with our performance. But winning when you dont play well is great so we will take it!
3 points and no injuries. Never going to complain.
Hope we come out swinging Saturday!
6 wins in 6..
And he's not happy.. ❤
Perfectionist!
It was below standard. It can easily turn into a run of bad form. Still can win with bad form, but only so long before bing found out.
That performance was nothing to be happy about he knows that's 2 poor performances in a row and that can't continue before you get beat that's why he is the manager that's why it's refreshing to hear this instead of pretending otherwise.
job done 6/10 but that's what you have to do. need to play Endo more to rest Grav...
True people forget we were leading the league last season with him at 6.
We can rest Gravenberch and a lot of other starters in the next two Champions League matches.
Controlled the game from 30 minutes. Reminded me of European away games in the 70s 80s
Hi David, Great vlog! We got the job done, they made it difficult, parked the bus at times! as you said the stats speak for themselves. But a win is a win.. Great to see Alisson back! World class!
Insane that we've only conceded once in the Champions League
Really is ridiculous. Over 500 minutes since they last did as well now.
Love your channel David up the mighty red men
Thanks mate!
Important win for Liverpool ❤

Really kind comment, Dan, nice one!
Another, in our mad schedule, nice break before the next match. Harvey and Allison back. The window to catch us is closing.
Nunez is never going to be what we want him to be. Another terrible shift tonight. I'd sell in a heartbeat.
200%
Sadly he's not even fun anymore, used to terrify teams even if he didn't Finnish..now it's just bland. Real shame. Slott surely has to change his game or sell
It’s mad because if you look at him at Benefica he looks unplayable. It’s just not worked out for whatever reason.
I think 'the big picture' is one of doing whatever's necessary to get the best results and that was what we did. Not pretty or even exciting at times but we won, and that's what matters.

LFC is already sure of approximately Euro 60 million income out of UCL. The CFO will be happy.
Our award of a penalty similar to R Madrid’s at Anfield #TopoftheLeague 👍
Lads we won.
Just take that.
Top of the champions league and Premier league.
FSG give this man two quality players in January.
Another Midfielder and a back.
In case of injuries.
Looks like we are going to have alot of games.
80million for a super sub is quite ridiculous
Super subs score, this fool does bugger all
Poor endeavour but a result that we would always have taken before the match.

This is why one rotates. Hungrier players. We should have the quality to deal with these sides
Nunez gets all the criticism for his poor strike rate, but Diaz hasn't scored in the Prem since September. Both of them cost us last season at the business end with their misses.
Diaz created the last 2 penalties, and his work rate is twice of Darwin.
I agree we need fit Jota soon. Nunez just ain't cutting it
yep both of them & jota are below the standard. at least gakpo is young. worth selling all 3 and buying two elite in the summer
If Diaz is causing trouble and working hard that’s fine but Nunez is not looking great his role seems to be a ball chaser but at number 9 position. If salah is not scoring we will look very ordinary. GOOD AFTERNOON GREETINGS FROM THE HEATHROW AIRPORT AREA OF WEST LONDON DAVID ✌🏽
Could you ask Arne about Nunez? Does he seem as part of his future plans?
not our best game but 3 points is all that matters
We really need to get a midfielder in January - also someone who can play LB & LCH would be nice

I felt for the fans who never miss aways but had to miss out on this one because the tickets were so limited. They didn’t miss a classic at least!
If only Nunez could improve by 1% every month at least 😢
CATCH US IF YOU CAN!!

Darwin has to go. Sorry but there’s no hope.
11:38 on Nunez the team cannot afford to carry extra dead weight. We need to win trophys with operating legs.

Need to step up for Fulham on Saturday .
Gerona looked decent but they were too negative especially being the home team
They got beat 3-0 by Real at the weekend!

@christineduffy3113 bro we bought a keeper already
No time for sentiment, Kelleher got a league and champions league medal and played for liverpool
David, Darwin is the number 9 for Liverpool. The spotlight should be on him. Loads of effort and commitment but overall into his third season at the club overall he's been poor. Great result though. Up the mighty Reds.
Professional second half
Girona had two opportunities when a player was left completely on their own in the first half. Better finishers would have scored them. So no wonder Slot wasn’t happy, that has to be dealt with before the Fulham game. Didn’t see many shots on target either. The second half was better, I agree.

Bottom 10 clubs should drop to the Europa . Top 2 in the latter should play in last 16 of the C L .
If nunez plays like this i hardly think we can deliver anything in the 2nd half
we cannot play the he would or would not have made a specific save. we have the best keeper in the world and a back up who could start on any squad in the world
Liverpool needs an enforcerer like Jota. Nunez, Diaz, Gakpo all good players but Jota makes those goals Nunez will always fail to make.
They were better than I expected. ‘Smallish stadium’. lol. We have high school football programs here in Texas that seat more then 14600
Yeah they don’t have to pay the athletes so they can build stadiums lol
Bit concerned about our reliance on Salah
stonewall penalty, if a tackle is late thats also not intended, it does not matter if the did not plan to step on the heels
I’ve praised Robertson loads recently, particularly after Villa if I recall. I don’t have agendas 👍
Poor performance tbh
Darwin looks like he's evolving backwards...
Didn't see much of Trent's line breaking passing
Winning by PK is not confidence inspiring
One positive is that Alisson was great!
Jota’s return can only help him.
J OTA ALSO POOR IF NOT SCORING. OFF THE BALL NUNEZ IS WAY BETTER.
David, are you suggesting that the games against Lille and PSV are just two dead rubber games? No way because the more wins you have in the UCL the more money and revenue the club generates. Let's NOT pretend that money does not matter. I think Slot will try to win these last two group matches and keep up the momentum with a strong line - up
They’re worth money but if there’s any doubt over a key player’s fitness or fatigue then they won’t be involved. That’s a nice position to be in.
We need a striker, it's all clear that Nunez is not good enough and Jota is not available most of the season, if we get a striker in January we can guarantee the league.
Agree that nunez hasn't been great recently but yourself and some of echo reports seemingly can't wait to have a real dig at him. Its really not neded
@@danielramwell9764 That's because he's arguably the worst performing player in the squad with the biggest question marks over him.
the funny thing is that you really think slot will rotate in the last two games, he will not because personal records matters more to him
I think Slot would know that the most important personal record he could get is winning the Prem in his first year.
Putting that right by winning it this year would be amazing.
nunez and jota can go,xavi simons and danns CF's next season
but jota has been regularly injured for past 3 seasons
I was hoping that this would be Darwin’s breakthrough year. Sadly, not so.
Hey David, As usual you nailed it in your analysis. 3 highlights for me today: 1) watching the game, 2) watching Arne's post match press conference--talk about a straight shooter, eh? and 3) your wrap up! YNWA.
Nice one Mark! Hope you’re well mate.
Nunez is good of the bench but he is not good enough to start
Hii
Usual negative moaners in the comments as perusal ffs 🙄
You look like Chiesa
Wish I was as good at football.
Huge win, crap show again, we ain’t going to get away eventually in pl.
They needed to play quicker. I thought Trent and Salah were crap tonight.
IMO we should try to make Nunez into a Firmino 2.0. He is not a goalsetter but he is fast, he could press and give good assists. Just take the pressure away from him that he is measured by goals.
