But why don't we ever get a movie with an old person so saves the world? a person that could be as old, wise and powerful as someone like Yoda and then venture out in the world and meet other people from all kinds of ages with lots of cool different personalities and team up with them to then fight against a powerful being? could be a cool movie i guess.
First off I completely agree w u we need more stories about old ppl in general I feel bad for all the elderly actors that can only ever be grandparents,,, and second like you got a solid idea man go write it!!!
If you want an old man saving the world, there is an anime called Inuyashiki that is an anime series that is just exactly that. Not only that, but it even has an underaged boy as the villain.
i finally got around to watching this! i think there's something to be said about americas obsession with suffering for success and how aspects of that ideology presents itself in the media we consume. it feeds into the romanticization of past trauma making you "stronger". the pressure that comes with this expectation can be so damaging to survivors of trauma. if movie/tv show directors are okay with writing about the most earth-shattering traumatic events, they should also be okay with depicting them as such, rather than treating it as a regular tuesday. i loved this video and now want to watch that anime you spoke about lol
Thank u so much for watching man I’m rly glad u liked it!! I think we rly are seeing the tides shift in terms of diversity in a lot of ways and an accurate portrayal of trauma will come with that, the good thing is if you’re willing to look there are good examples now, and at the same time you *have* to look. The mainstream won’t understand until it’s in their face. Also good luck w evangelion it’s a trip
I really like the way you handle topics such as these. It provides so much insight on the kinds of things young people are put through and how it's romanticized and glorified. Personally, I think this kind of stuff should make us angry - why are we expecting kids to save the world at the expense of enduring so much trauma? And why do we praise it? Why are we not up in arms about the kinds of things kids are put through? Why are we not at society's throat for putting our children, younger siblings, their friends, etc. through so much horrible shit? Great video, as always!
Before I even watch the video. I'm just gonna throw in my coins and say that it's probably because the older generation know full well they've fragged us over, and now they're trying to help their own guilt by making and believing in the idea that we will make things work out in the end, which we probably will, but I can guarantee that its not gonna end with a happily ever after for everybody who deserves it like how the older generations want it to be
I actually feel like hunger games handled this topic in a great way every time i re-read the books, especially as i get older. A lot of the shitty tropes other ya dystopias take from it actually have a readon to be in hunger games. To me the example you gave about the scene with the carreers and the wasps shows very well that these kids might be trained for battle but as kids they'll never actually be prepared for these situations (and also that as they're being prepared they're taught to think of the hunger games like a game instead than as a serious life and death situation)
Why does this kinda apply to Pokémon protags too Like they kinda are relied on to defeat essentially Jesus or something when therss so many adults that can do it ??
Sword and Shield kinda got flack for the protags not being involved with the dynamax issues until the end of the game..... so I'm afraid the kids must save the world trope is gonna stay in Pokemon
I hate to break it to you because, even if unintentional it's quite nice, but the whole lifting doors for characters to pass through and everything like that, is an increasingly common trick of video games to hide loading screens when they prepare chunks of the map.
I’ve seen a variety of games where this features psychs you out and someone stops holding it or leaves you stranded (this happens in pt 1) so it was less of the mechanic itself and more of the ways it could’ve been perverted and the fact that it wasn’t
@@milesmemory The only time I see guys arguing that a child isn’t a child is because they have big breasts and therefore because the child as fully development huge breasts they are “mature” and treated like an adult. I’ve heard of this being a huge issue in some developing countries. The young teenager kills her rapist, but then gets tried as an adult because of the size of her breasts. So either that guy is just a troll or he lives in one of those countries where men there believe that.

Thank you so much for watching! You said that so eloquently and frankly something I wasn’t fully brave enough to say, we should be angrier
25:23 All right, I'm saying something. Can't wait for your essay on Filmaker's Catholic views and I hope to see a lot of Italian examples.
Yesss thank u coming right up!!! It’s mostly Pasolini and Rossellini

Have you watched similar mecha anime like the fafner series and bokurano? Curious to hear/read your comparison on these shows with Eva.

And Digimon too…The earlier season…Ken and all (being traumatized as fuck btw à la «evangelion freudian sauce » Huh.

The Digimon survive game literally has some of the kids DIE depending on your choices....
Hope you don’t mind me asking but what are your thoughts on Evangelion overall?
Yo The Last of Us is my favorite video game ever, and I’m deadass scared asf to play The Last of Us 2 cuz of all the mixed reviews I’ve heard lmao 😅

NEW GENERATIIN THE NEXT GENERATION KEEP PUTING OR HOPES INTO THE NEXT THING BABY BOY BABY LITTLE BOYS WILL SAVR US ALLLLLÑÑÑ!!
If we are being realistic Ellie saving Joel in Last of Us is total BS.
>Ellie
>Child
Ellie’s 14 in the 1st game, a child. We see how her childhood affected her in the 2nd game when she’s a young adult so I’m not sure of ur point here
@@milesmemory 14 isn't really a child and the thumbnail shows grownup ellie
@@user-mn8lz7gf6d I promise you 14 year olds are children, and I just liked that picture lol
